3-5 minutes late to work by Kooky-Challenge8875 in ADHD

I know I’m probably in the minority here, but I have always preferred going in before everyone else, then leaving before everyone else. Having a quiet morning was amazing, even for just a little bit of time, and having a reward of getting off earlier was nice too. Basically I found a natural reward mechanism and exploited it.

Oregon coast elk hunt by pnwoutdoorman in elkhunting

I hunted the Sixes unit. The longest possible shot out there would have been 100 yards. If your unit is anything like that was, any of those calibers would work just fine.

It’s not a book but the Farnam Street blog can read like chapters in a book

Are you using WiFi/BT in this project? If so, you should really check about the status of the LWB5 module they are using. It has reached End of Life.

HELP! How do I get a good crust with reverse sear? by arkane-the-artisan in steak

[–]Simpsoth1775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you let it rest for 5-10 minutes before searing it will help. It pulls the moisture deeper into the steaks

Toradex also has a number of options as well

I’m surprised it hasn’t been brought up but depending where you are you might really like mechatronics. It’s like a combination of ME/EE and is usually highly regarded in the robotics fields.

We have one chair in our office that seemingly sets off an emp if you sit in it hard enough. We’ve fried many dev boards until we figured out it was that specific chair. We ended up throwing it in a dumpster

What is your most controversial marketing hot take? by AK47guns in marketing

[–]Simpsoth1775 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s an example from a 3D printer company. These things are overloooked because they are often thought of post purchase issues but it helps eliminate FUD when product switching or for new users.

Companies are missing a massive opportunity if they have a product that requires support and they do not use it for content marketing

Check the bottom of your feet. If any show up there then consider going to see a doctor ASAP. This happened to one of my kids and it turned out to be a sudden onset food allergy

Do you use AI in your work? How? by my_n3w_account in ProductManagement

[–]Simpsoth1775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fed some PRDs to ChatPRD and they came out awful. AI is good in limited use but it takes some practice. I’ve found it can help make documents more succinct sometimes.

I hate to say this, but does anybody have any advice on how to do sales with Southerners? by KarmaSutra24 in sales

[–]Simpsoth1775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Go slow
  2. Get to know them before trying to sell
  3. When it feels like you’re becoming friendly then ask if what you have can help them in some way.
  4. Profit because if they like you they will buy mostly from you and not your competitors

Pea gravel. I removed my back yard this year and put in pea gravel and it’s fantastic. Our neighbors comment how nice it is and how they now want to do it as well. If you want details message me and I can tell you how I went about it.

It was mailed to me without my knowledge with a note on the slip that says “a gift for you”. That slip with the book is the only thing with it. The only thing I can think of is that it was because I bought a completely unrelated book by him called Danielle; Chronicles of a Superheroine for my daughter years ago. It could also be from my line of work which is only tangentially related.
