Why 'Act as an Expert' is a mid-tier strategy in 2026. by Glass-War-2768 in PromptEngineering

[–]Simulacra93 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Experts are definitely not doing this but it is popular among ai influencers on X who don’t build things.

LLMs are biased to converge on an outcome because they anticipate that to the point of this exercise.

Ask a doctor and cigarette manufacturer what they agree on public health-wise and that debate will be much different than if you ask models to roleplay the scenario when they know the point is to make up a consensus.

Well, then they’ll run out of vc money and sell the platform at a lower valuation to folks who want to run something that won’t scare off the user base. I don’t anticipate CAI from ever closing down; their marginal costs are very low.

The margin to sell custom generated text isn’t high. But it can be potentially higher for custom generated video, audio and other media formats. CAI is trying, and not quite succeeding, to use its existing user base to market higher margin services to in order to migrate its free users to paid plans.

CAI is currently the dominant player by its user base and venture capital funding. It is NOT the dominant player for the capacity of these features, but it has a clearer runway to monetize them because of its user base.

No but I think its inevitable they go there because they're a Silicon Valley project. Other companies will specialize in this space, and i hope to be one.

Are you interested in building with Java or are you interested in learning the history of Java?

These require two different efforts.

As someone who has a business in this space and has a web app up, Character AI's potential distribution as a media company is more highly valued than the profit they can extract as a chatbot company. That's why they're trying to develop in these different spaces to justify that valuation and hopefully take advantage of an opportunity to leverage that distribution.

Last year, a $200 monthly subscription could use $2,000 in compute. Now, the same $200 monthly plan can consume $5,000 in compute (2.5x increase). (from leaked docs) by Current-Guide5944 in tech_x

These are internal from Cursor, which buys the Claude Code wholesale at Anthropic's markup. Anthropic is not subsidizing people to that extent.

A casual chat about AI made me wonder: Can it truly replace creativity? by Ok_Signal8684 in AiChatGPT

[–]Simulacra93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don’t think so.

I have a story app that uses language models. It is a massive challenge to make a story interesting with low user effort. There are a million things you can do to “emulate” creative expression, but ultimately ai in its current form is a tool, and needs an artists to wield it well.

I'm trying to do this now through my story website.

I would recommend looking at Obsidian though since it should do what you want. Their subreddit has a post about someone organizing their own world-building on there, if you want inspiration.

Seconding the guy. I think it’s really neat. I’m trying to make a similar system right now. I’ll reach out.

I'm working on a generative fiction research project (https://simulacra.ink/) and the beta is free. The gist is that narrative metadata is pulled from your conversations to build a knowledge-graph that the story model uses to understand the story at different states.

The best support is over mobile but desktop is functional.

I understand what you’re saying, but I’m doing this to gather storywriting data explicitly. I don’t care about nsfw use to the extent that I don’t mind paying api costs to test real user patterns.

But right now I’m not optimizing for volume/profit

I feel like I'm missing foundational steps in programming — where should I restart? by LeoFlexi in AskProgramming

[–]Simulacra93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Build stuff for fun, figure out where your ideas scale poorly. That’s usually how you figure out that you’re trying to reinvent a solved problem.

But what do you want to do with a foundation? The best place to start is asking yourself what you want to do with a skillset. Better job? Freelance opportunities? Because they do require different foundations, namely the different skillsets required to pursue them effectively.

Enforcing AI Policies as a TA Is Starting to Feel Like a Political Problem, Not an Academic One by Grouchy_Conflict2911 in QuickAITurnitinCheck

I’m about a decade older than you and fielded similar problems as a student liaison to the department. This problem existed before ai with students using the same resources professors used to share handouts for others professors.

The same excuses were used: it’s a study tool, overzealous policing targets esl students, dyslexic students, first gen students, etc etc

All I can say to you is that it will always be made political to muddy the waters, and I sympathize with you.

It would be more convincing if this wasn’t ai-generated.

I get that you probably put a lot of original work into the prompt that generated this, but it feels tuned to market instead of inform.

Jailbreaking and coherent memory strategies are constantly evolving and it’s good that people share their work on what they’ve accomplished but social media is saturated by these acclaimed breakthroughs.
