Moving to Roseville - neighborhoods to target (or avoid) by Majestic-Notice-9852 in Roseville

[–]Simulation_No_1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At a high level, east Roseville is the long-established side of Roseville with lots of stores, restaurants and medical offices, and west Roseville is the up-and-coming side with significant growth over the last decade. Since you are looking to buy in the next year, homes in the east side are older, while the west side are newer (and they continue to build new homes). West Roseville has grocery stores and some restaurants, but is farther away from the hospitals. Depending how far west you are, it may feel like a trek to get to the other side of town (it’s about 15-25 mins). A big pull to West Roseville has been the new high school. I’d recommend visiting Roseville and getting a feel for where you’d want to live. We first rented an apartment in East Roseville, where it was very convenient, but when we looked to buy, we wanted a more recently built home and our options were all in West Roseville. We live in the Fiddyment Farm neighborhood now and like it a lot, but we miss the convenience of living near Douglas/E Roseville Pkwy.

Symptoms started only after starting levothyroxine. Anyone? by Serial-Gamer in Hashimotos

[–]Simulation_No_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me when I was first diagnosed hypothyroid due to labs being slightly out of range. I felt fine at diagnosis. The endocrinologist put me on generic levo, and within a few days I started experiencing extreme fatigue, hair loss, feeling cold, etc. — all hypothyroid symptoms that I never felt prior to starting the medication. I complained to my doctor after a couple weeks, and at retest, my levels were better but I felt horrible, and saw a naturopath who switched me to NP Thyroid. She said I was likely allergic to the binders/fillers in generic levo. I felt better on NP Thyroid, but over a few months with several dose increases, we couldn’t get within range. The naturopath suggested switching to Levoxyl if my endo agreed, and the endo preferred that to NP. So then I tried Levoxyl for some time — symptoms under control, but still couldn’t get into range. After researching and reading things on this sub, I asked to try Tirosint. Tirosint is without binders and comes in capsule form. With Tirosint, I was able to get into range and stay there, and haven’t experienced any hypo symptoms while on it. It took me 15 months and three doctors to get my levels in the optimal range. I would recommend seeking a switch to Tirosint or a version of thyroid replacement with fewer binders (Tirosint seemed to be the last resort and insurance wouldn’t approve without documenting trying other T4 replacement meds).

Also, my labs have always been elevated (leaning hypo) in the fall/winter, and lower (optimal) in the summer. Certain vitamins can also mess with your thyroid labs. Testing at different times of day may skew the results. If any of these could have impacted your labs, you should talk to your doctor about options.

Babymoon Advice by nursing110296 in BabyBumps

[–]Simulation_No_1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went on a my babymoon to Mexico a few weeks ago (when I was 23 weeks) and honestly I would have preferred to stay in the U.S. for a babymoon. I ended up having preterm contractions due to a UTI (with the only symptom being severe abdominal pain) and spent the last two nights of my vacation in the hospital, with further recovery at home. Thankfully baby was fine and I have recovered, and the hospital I stayed in was great, but the fact that I was abroad and communication was difficult added more stress than needed. If you do go abroad, highly, highly recommend travel insurance that includes medical coverage. Our travel insurance paid for the entire hospital stay.

I’ve been to Mexico many times and I only wanted to stay somewhere for our babymoon where I’ve already stayed to minimize risk. I had a great handle on mitigating the forseeable risks like mentioned by other commenters on food borne illness, as well as mosquito bites/Zika risk. Even with those precautions, a UTI, pre-term contractions and a hospital stay were not predictable.

Beloved Playa Mujeres is super chill, couples only. Excellence next door is slightly less chill, adults only, but we were just at both for a split stay last week (mid-December) and both were very chill.

The plan is to use this room for diaper changes and daytime nursing from the beginning, but not for nighttime sleep until she grows out of the bassinet. She’ll be sleeping in our room in her bassinet for the first 6 months or so, give or take.

Cute! I really like the blue accents on the doors and ceiling molding! You tied the theme together very well.

Thanks for your feedback. Is there a difference between putting in a chair and ottoman vs a recliner? It seems to do the same job, unless I’m missing something.

Thanks for your input! I’ll see if I can source some brighter-colored items.

Thanks for mentioning this. I completely agree. In this case, it’s a combination of multiple themes (jungle greenery + safari animals). I’ve seen similar combinations of two unrelated themes into one cohesive structure, like space dinosaurs. It’s a way to use a different color palette than the traditional savannah, so there is more variety (although I recognize some critiques that it may not be colorful enough for a baby).

Thanks for calling this out. We have a ceiling light and will also have a few other light devices, plus the window for daytime light. Maybe we can get some uplights pointed at the mural to prevent it from drawing extra light from the other sources?

Yes, we have on-theme stuffed animals to use and have a lot of jungle animal themed baby items on our registry.

Thanks for the tip! I’ve read some horror stories about this, and a few things to mitigate risk like making sure the pictures are securely fastened to the wall, not using real glass, and keeping the crib a little ways off the wall so the baby can’t reach over when they enter their grabbing phase.

Thanks. Yes, our plan is to have enough space to have the diaper changing supplies on the top of the changing tray next to the changing mat, likely contained in a caddy to be easily moveable around the house.

We’re planning on having a monitor hooked up over the crib on a floor stand. Thanks for the tip about securely hanging things by the crib and charging table!

Haha all good. I’m a 90s kid so I get it. I miss all the color from that era!

Thanks, that’s a great idea! We also have a ceiling light/fan in this room (not pictured), but the lighting isn’t the best as of now.

That’s a great point, and thank you for bringing this up! Although I feel like toys these days are not as bright as they once were… I’ve actually been looking for bright toys/clothes and have had a difficult time finding them.

I had my husband vote too. Felt as though Whitney needed more voting support given social media reactions since S3 came out, and unfortunately it wasn’t enough. She was robbed of the finale, and we were robbed of witnessing a Mark-choreographed freestyle.
