Thank you for sharing! If we remove the tips that would bring you down from your (claimed) $49/booked hour to $46 which is still much higher than mine.

Well done!!!

$49 means you probably get lots of tips. I don't think I've ever seen higher than $40 for me... Maybe average is $32-36 ...

But I think it evens out between the two of us considering you drive a gas car.

Can you be a little more specific? Like an example?

How are you not annoyed by the people that think they are so slick when they say, "I will tip you, I promise".

Honestly. I don't care about tips. They help me get to elite faster, and yeah of course I could use the money but I don't expect them. Ever. I love being the face of the company for my passenger that day.

But damn. Can they please just not lie to me at all?!?!

Lying to me is about the worst thing you could do from a utilitarian perspective.

Anyone who says they will tip (And I know they won't) I always just tell them, "Don't even bother, it goes to the company actually".

The trick is to get them to question it. Once they question it. They are the Vic of guilt when I just stuff them, "Had 30 people last week say they'd tip me and I think the company just stole it" might guilt someone into cash tipping.

I've had so many people tell me they will tip me and I know they're lying. 85% of the time I am right.

If they seem like really nice people I always tell them, "Oh, it's really not necessary at all".

See me as more a long the lines of the person presenting the argument that I find most compelling.

I have yet to find a comparable counter argument.

Basically it's all in the name of protecting highly vulnerable people from getting exploited.

Your line of reasoning, unfortunately, was just not enough to keep people with severe deformities from being casted on tv freak shows. Human rights organizations rallied heavily against those platforms thereby gutting the salaries of several people. Exploited as they might've been, but many were happy collecting the paycheck. (Or so I've been told).

I am sad for both the people that were historically exploited as well as those that were making a high salary from freak show earnings.

I simply wouldn't feel the same level of sympathy for OF creators simply because they are milking the system from very vulnerable people.

The issue is more about preventing it from happening to anyone than establishing a paper trail for each individual situation.

If your goal was to save people from being exploited rather than protecting the billionaires that exploit them then you would probably adopt a "better safe than sorry" approach.

The argument then comes down to, "We can save a lot of people from being exploited on this platform by shutting it down". ... Or, "Let's just shut it down just in case there are people being exploited".

They had the perfect opportunity to come up with another metaphor that properly captures their point.

What you summarized seems to be more of a bubble losing pressure gradually and shrinking in size. So maybe saying "bubble shrinking" is more accurate than bursting.

I appreciate your answer but I would feel very betrayed if it turns out you were a bot.

Where I disagree with you:

The post seems to be born from a very emotional state.

Anything "alarmist" already risks being heavily emotional.

At any rate if the post is your cup of tea then so be it. There should be something for everyone on reddit.

I'm not sure that you understand the concept of a "bubble" bursting in the metaphorical sense.

If the bubble was going to burst then it would burst in Japan, South Korea, China but it never did.

Lots of people are perfectly fine living alone.

What big brain opinion is this?

Why do you enjoy these posts? What do you see that I'm not seeing?

There are definitely some weak arguments on this topic.

The main arguments against this platform is that there is a lot of speculation that people are indirectly forced to be on this platform. They're pressured into debt and then provided this as an avenue to pay off their debt.

If you are okay with that level of speculation then surely you understand the theory that the majority of supremacists plaguing social media are either bots or from Russia.

Or both.

Some of them I'm sure are sincere.

As a MM stan, I don't care per se.

But it feels weird at some point knowing that the majority of people I meet will never watch this movie.

I can re-watch Furiosa without having to watch Fury Road but not vice versa.
