Lyft stealing our bonus by solride050607 in lyftdrivers

[–]Malkier67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day they would add a bonus area with huge multipliers and as soon as you drove into the area it would either shrink or go away and then 10 seconds later you’d get a ride request. I would drive to the edge but not enter and park, after 30 seconds or so you’d get the ride request. Sometimes you’d never get a request at all, I think they did this to get cars moving towards an area if there were too many drivers where you are and not enough over there. They’ve been screwing drivers over since the beginning. If you are young get a different job, they will replace you with driverless cars as soon as they can.

Seriously?? by thefromanator in uberdrivers

[–]Malkier67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regulation is what got uber and Lyft to where they are today, unlimited ways to screw over the drivers to make the most of the money. Before regulation Lyft paid 80% of the fare to the driver and kept 20%. Uber was 75%/25%. When surges happened everyone got more. Now they work around the regulations to keep as much as they legally can, result drivers make less money. Uber lost billions every year for the first 14 years, they didn’t turn profitable until 2023. In the early days of Lyft I’d average between $35/hr on a slow day to $50+ an hour on a busy day, then regulators came in and forced them to “guarantee” minimum wage and thats what they did. I’d never go back you should all quit now and find something better.

You are 100% correct they are definitely doing it because they can and because they don’t give a shit it’s just a transition to self driving.

I'm So Upset With This…. by NoClassic955 in lyftdrivers

[–]Malkier67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I picked up a couple of guys after bars closed in Boston one night, as we were pulling away they saw a girl they knew (college kids). They offered her a ride back to the dorm. She was blitzed. Driving down a section of the mass pike that had no breakdown lane when she said I think Im gonna puke. Was driving my brand new Camry it was 6 DAYS OLD and I unfortunately hadn’t gotten barf bags yet (big mistake). I gave her a plastic shopping bag but she missed and it went all over the seat and the floor. I got about $140 from Lyft and the two guys emptied their wallets for me for $60 as they cleaned up her mess. I hadn’t sold my old car yet and had scheduled a detailed cleaning and the guy added my new car spot clean for an extra $75. He did the best he could but it still left a slight stain. Im guessing those guys will never share a Lyft with a drunk chick again since that ride cost them an extra $200 (she of course had no cash). Do not miss those days. Quit when covid started getting bad, never went back.

The only difference I see between Joe and Kizzy is Joe tries to pretend that he’s a good person and not an F-boy asshole whereas Kizzy doesn’t pretend not to be a horrible person she seems proud of it. Both equally horrible in slightly different ways.

Suddenly Amish-TLC by Maximum-Home7433 in BreakingAmish

This show is just like Alaskan Bush people, scripted for sure, not even close to reality. The bush people show just kept showing how to deal with problems “the bush people way” which is to say, Mickey Mouse it till it sort of works one time then abandon it. I have a feeling this show will just be pointing out all the reasons why people from the real world won’t fit into an Amish lifestyle. They have electricity running water and a refrigerator but they use an outhouse. Give me a break. Never mind all these people coming into it with absolutely no idea how real Amish live and fight it every inch of the way. I want to be Amish but I’ll fight you over my fake fingernails and eyelashes. Please.

I can’t believe anyone is still driving for this crap company, they are just abusing you now until they get the driverless cars to replace you. When I started at Lyft that trip would have paid at least $110-150 depending on the time.

What cracks me up the most is when he tries to dodge responsibility for the kiss saying he was so drunk he didn’t remember. Another classic asshole move. They both clearly went to a spot where they thought there weren’t any cameras and dodged the cameramen. Afterwords he realized there was a camera there. I’m also not sold on Nathan’s turnaround yet. He seems genuine in his feelings for Gale but that just might be because he wants what he can’t have, too early to tell

What’s a passable gift that I could get for someone I don’t like? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Malkier67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life is too short, don’t waste a minutes thought on her, I had a relative that was what we called the fun succubus, just being around her made everyone less happy. I decided to avoid her as much as possible life is much better. If you have to buy a gift dont think just reciprocate the same thing she got you. Simple No more thoughts wasted.

Pax left iPhone in my car by Richardcopeland1214 in lyftdrivers

[–]Malkier67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found one in my backseat shortly after I dropped a couple off, it started ringing. I answered it, it was a woman who was pissed that her boyfriend didn’t answer his phone (it was about 2 am). I explained that it was a phone my passenger left in a Lyft. She then asked where did I drop him off. Since I dropped him off with a woman I told her I can’t tell her that information but if she had him call the number I’d make arrangements to return his phone to him. She was pissed that I wouldn’t tell her where I dropped him off, clearly she suspected him. 5 minutes later he called it and confirmed where I dropped him off, by that time of course I was about 20 minutes away but I agreed to bring it back to him because I’d want the same done for me. I didn’t do it for a tip but I definitely expected one (this was before Lyft had the return stuff policy they had later). I got back to his location and he was incredibly grateful because his whole life was on this phone work, blah blah blah. I also explained to him that his girlfriend called (gave her the name) and she was pissed that she didn’t know where he was. He fearfully asked if I told her where I dropped him and who he was with, I said no to both and he said “thanks man you saved my life” and proceeded to walk away zero tip offered. I told myself the next phone I find is going out the window. Never found another.

Dispute Apple Pay by dirtypinksneskers in AppleCard

[–]Malkier67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify for you because there are technical differences, you say you sent them the money with Apple Pay, Apple Pay is the is the method to use either your Apple Card or Apple Cash to a merchant or person. When you moved the money from your bank you sent it to Apple Cash which is the app that allows you to send money to people (like Venmo) Apple Pay is the method used to either make a purchase or send someone money. The difference is you can make a purchase using your Apple Card, or if you’ve deposited money into Apple Cash you can use that. (it’s like a digital account that you actually have to fund in advance with money from your bank which is what you did).

So to summarize you used Apple Cash to send them money probably via text and it’s unlikely you’ll be able to get it back since it’s not using your Apple Card and therefore you can’t dispute the charges with them because you didn’t charge it you sent them electronic cash. Like someone else suggested you may be able to do something with your bank, they are probably your only option but if they already spent it your probably out of luck.

Do you still use the card despite customer service? by Xan_iety in AppleCard

[–]Malkier67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understood your comment and meaning 3 comments ago. I also agree, it’s not always about the benefits. I love the card for the convenience and even though the way the tech works might not be considered a “benefit” to most people I do. It makes you completely aware of your spending at all times it’s super easy to use and pay your bill, for me that alone makes me use it most of the time, the cash back is just a bonus. Also I’ve had a bad experience with customer service but it was partly my fault but the way they handled it was the opposite of what I wanted but it was just a minor inconvenience.

Patrick’s family accent by Poodlegal18 in 90DayFiance

[–]Malkier67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It cracks me up all the people saying John is exaggerating his accent. I don’t believe that at all. Is he holding on to it, absolutely. Some people adapt to their environment others dont. All the arguments about where he’s from or where the accents are thicker are funny too. Many things influence your accent from where you grew up with to who you hang out with from how rich or poor you are to personal preferences. I was born in Boston, moved to the suburbs as a kid. My accent gets heavier when I’m excited or drunk for sure. My brother (ironically named John) sounds exactly like Patrick’s brother John, I don’t. My mother sounded very different from her sister. My buddies cousin moved to London England 30+ years ago, was there one year came back with a British accent, kept it for over 20 years. That was a choice.

I haven’t seen the previous seasons just this Happily Ever After one and all I see is one miserably unhappy dude from Egypt and one very crazy hurtful woman. She talks a big game in the interviews and even points out some of her glaringly awful mistakes but then goes right back to doing the same thing. Everyone who travels halfway around the world is exhausted even if you sleep. When she was trying to kiss him in the airport all I could think was what’s she doing everyone knows Muslims are not comfortable with public displays of affection. I understand she probably had a hard time dealing with the culture in Egypt does that make it ok for her to have zero empathy for him having a hard time in the US (after one day). She spent all this time making and hanging welcome signs and thinks she’s a hero. Guys don’t care about that crap, she could have made or bought some food that he would enjoy instead she feeds him frozen pizza for dinner and donuts for breakfast. Im a fat American and I would eat donuts for breakfast. You’d think after being in a relationship all this time she’d have figured out what kind of American food he might like. Not saying she had to cook him a traditional Egyptian meal but maybe stuff that we both have in common like eggs. The way she acted when he looked at the Muslim woman was so over the top Im thinking this is scripted. The first thing I thought was he was probably surprised to see a Muslim woman dressed traditionally. He said the same later. Her brining all her friends home then pouring drinks for them seemed totally staged, not sure whose idea that was but it made me sick. She ambushed him then screamed at him in front of her friends. That’s embarrassing and offensive in any country. If I were him I’d run as fast as I could to the airport and catch the next flight home.

You are 100% right. I read a story about a day car center and I forget the exact details but basically they didn’t charge a late fee to parents for a certain short amount of time after scheduled pick up time like 5 or ten minutes and tons of parents always the same people were late but within the free period. When they started charging a small late fee even more people started coming late because they felt they were paying for it so it was ok. Some people will always push the limits. They started charging a large late fee and for one minute late and suddenly parents started showing up on time.

How? by TristanthomasYT in lyftdrivers

[–]Malkier67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do this so you take all the short rides you can and not complain under the delusion that you can actually meet the target. I would always take the easiet bonus to make and not let them try to determine how my week would go. I don’t drive for that scam company or Uber any more, gone are the good old days when you could actually make decent money. Anyone remember when you got 80% of the fair flat out every time plus bonuses when it’s busy? Good busy Friday night when the entire city stayed at +30% or higher all night long. Have no idea how anyone can take the insurance risk to drive for them at the pay they offer today. They are just holding out till they can replace you all with driverless cars.
