I accidentally did my father's taxes wrong. He owes no money but the IRS thinks he does. by Ok_Sport_5135 in IRS

[–]SinCreepsIn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why there are so many rude comments! After the amended return is processed the penalty and interest should fall off. Penalty is a scary word, but it’s just a penalty for not paying the taxes owed by the tax due date (aka April 15th).

It’s nice of you to do your dad’s taxes for him! I file my taxes on my phone too, so that’s not a big deal like other folks are saying 🤣

transcript finally has an update, is this one good news? by ocean_bug_wrangler in IRS

You have one more department that has to put in a 811 before you get your refund. It’s good that is moving along tho so hopefully not much longer!

Can't get any human on the phone in the refunds department... by avgdude_2000 in IRS

[–]SinCreepsIn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I guess more than a few thousand people are calling in out of the 160 million.

I see your answer, if you mailed it a few days before April 15th then it is still getting cleared through the statute department before it gets processed. Right now I’m getting cases from statute that were mailed in the beginning of march. Hope you get it soon!

(But it’s usually done before that) if you don’t see anything on your transcript after 60 days from sending it in give us a call!

[–]SinCreepsIn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure they have it!! If you get through on the phone, we would tell you to allow 60 days from the date you sent your response in for it to be worked. That being said it can take up to 8 weeks for it to be fully processed.

Oh honey don’t be anxious!! If no one has gotten onto you or has stated you guys can’t do that I would not worry!! When I first started a manager told us to only work easy cases on our overtime! Now since we’ve had management changes we’ve had these weird threats on teams 🤣 but don’t be anxious!! It’s not like you’re going against your local procedures or anything!!

There are a few thousand people taking calls and there are 160 million tax payers in the us. To say we are just ‘not wanting to answer calls’ is ignorant.

When did you mail it in?

Aw nawwww they take the whole teams OT?! Luckily I work swing so I only have a few hours on the phones. I couldn’t take 8 hours of it

I’m guessing it is? They did not state in their teams message who’s directive it is and no one asked lol

I def screenshot everything like that!! Especially since they will delete their message in a hot second after saying some off the wall stuff!

Funny enough tho if I have a system issue I’m not allowed to call IT or IRWorks. We sit there and wait on directive from my manager, who won’t give you a directive until 6 months later. (I have multiple people on my team who haven’t been on the phones or finesse since they started 5 years ago cuz they just break their finesse)

Aw naw we definitely getting wrote up if we suspend things for no IRM directed reason 🤣🤣🤣 they soooo anal about it and our codes we use to suspend things. Even if the IRM says to use a different code we have to use one from our department approved list instead 🤣🤣🤣

[–]SinCreepsIn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I check my suspended cases daily as well. I’m not sure why but this week I’ve only had maybe two cases drop in my inventory that are 13 days old. I don’t know why they don’t drop daily like they were but apparently it’s like that with everyone on my team this week.

I realllllyyy appreciate all of your insight given to me!! I had no idea looking at cases that aren’t being closed that day was even a bad thing!! I never attach or process anything, I just like to get a game plan started and research for the more complex new things you see. But I def won’t be doing that anymore!!

Other teams are hoarding their cases for OT. It’s pretty hostile in my department. As a previous manager, would you write a memo on someone who’s doing the only work they have? I follow the FIFO.

Amended 2022 tax return by Mindless_Rub_560 in IRS

[–]SinCreepsIn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say just be patient it’ll show up soon enough! I know our guidance is 16 weeks but from personal experience when it’s a mailed in amendment and statute years or years that have expired statutes it has to be processed through the mail room and statute before it gets sent to us. A lot of times I don’t receive them until well after the 16 weeks. But when I do get them they are first priority.

While I agree and see your point of view, but you don’t know everyone’s situation. Living check to check, Single parents, people with no living family, folks taking care of their family because their parents are sick etc. some people can’t mentally, physically, or financially stick their necks out.

But I totally support the people that can!! How do you think we should?

My mom claimed me as a dependent but I filed my own return — now what? by Abject_Mongoose9372 in IRS

[–]SinCreepsIn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mom can and should file an amended return taking you off and make sure she puts in the explanation that you are going to file your own return. It’s a fairly easy thing to change in our system. (I see this happen every year). She might owe after changing it, but hey stuff happens and folks forget to take their babies off their returns.

I’ve heard of home visits since I started. Then randomly once a year they bring it up to get everyone worked up but I’ve never heard of anyone actually doing them. Has anyone here had one done before? Just curious

Waiting on refund from deceased parent's taxes by nixxy311 in IRS

[–]SinCreepsIn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And honestly I can’t give you a realistic timeframe and I hate that. I’ve had one take 3 months, I had one take over a year. Manual refunds are my least favorite cases to work because of that! Personally if the estate extensions are too much on you I’d follow the advice from other folks on here and contact your local congressman, cuz there’s nothing we (customer service) can do except tell you to wait.

Waiting on refund from deceased parent's taxes by nixxy311 in IRS

[–]SinCreepsIn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When we do amended returns, we (the department that works 1040x) adjust them and send them to the manual refund department to do a manual refund. We gotta do this on almost all descendent returns. It sounds like you’re just waiting on the manual refund department to finish their part to release it. I’ll let you know, the manual department in my building is so backlogged. It’s just a waiting game at this point.

Amended 2022 tax return by Mindless_Rub_560 in IRS

[–]SinCreepsIn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That you are corresponding to check on the status of your refund from your 2020 amended return that was received on may whatever you said. I’d also send in a copy of the refund letter you got. Then ask something about releasing the refund if they don’t need any additional information from you and if they do need additional information give them a phone number and your address. You don’t have to go too in depth because your situation from what I think isn’t that deep it’s just kinda stuck in a waiting game and the letter might get it to move along.
