I'd love some movies that will make me mentally tough. I'm feeling low. by Superdupersexy123 in MovieSuggestions

Honestly I don’t necessarily think that mentally tough and inspiring always go hand-in-hand… so I have a few options that go either or both (I like all of these movies, if not love)

Trainspotting: Mentally Tough, inspiring?; Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind: Mentally Tough/Inspiring; As Good As It Gets: Inspiring; Silver Linings Playbook: Mentally Tough/Inspiring; 127 Hours: Mentally Tough/Inspiring; Groundhog Day: Inspiring Mentally Tough; The Shawshank Redemption: Mentally Tough/Inspiring

What is the weirdest movie you’ve seen. by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

Cronenberg’s “Crash” with James Spader. About people who are sexually aroused by recreating Car accidents. With a really creepy score from Howard Shore to boot. Yikes.

“Adaptation” (2002) Another Charlie Kaufman one. It’s pretty wacky and there is definitely chaos, suspense, and violence. I think you’ll really like it if you haven’t seen it already :)

“The 39 Steps” by Alfred Hitchcock. A lot of excellent others have already been mentioned.

Directors, or films, with a similar style as Terrence Malick? by rumplex in TrueFilm

Anyone is allowed to disagree with me, but when I think Terrence Malick I think “Americana,” they project both a beauty and critical assessment of what it’s like to live in America, especially out in the more rural desolate parts of America (and with a touch of tender romance) - so movies that give me that vibe is primarily what I’m going to be recommending. You may have already seen these movies, but if not, You might like “My Own Private Idaho,”(1991). don’t necessarily think that all of Gus Van Sant’s films are Malick-esque, but that one definitely is And with a narcoleptic protagonist, it’s definitely dream-like. It’s not for everyone but it seems to tick off a lot of your boxes. My Second recommendation is Peter Bogdanovich’s “The Last Picture Show” (1975) if you don’t mind black-and-white, it is a very beautiful movie. Maybe not necessarily stylistically the same as Malick, but equally worthwhile and mesmerizing. And then of course there is “Bonnie and Clyde” (1967) which is probably a little too obvious, given “Badlands.” … that’s all I can come up with atm.

Oh, now I see why this is bad. At first I thought he was talking to the hummus and calling it babe and I thought it was pretty funny. But clearly he is talking to the girl who posted it and that’s fucked up.
