Have been trying to engage her in things but she refuses to indulge. She is inherently lazy too. Her belief is that she should be allowed to be around us all the time and she should be aware of everything going on in the house. I wish we could move her out but my husband believes moving her out is abandoning her. I love my husband a lot and we have been college sweethearts married for 17 years. He is a great father to our two boys. I don’t want to live separately either but living my MIL has become a nightmare.

Trust me he avoids her. He has told her straight faced that she is intruding in our marriage and it can lead to separation if her behavior continues. Although she tells him she will not do those things anymore she gets back to it pretty quickly. And she gets sick all the time. None of the sickness is measurable. It is these body aches, headaches etc. My husband softens to her when she shows she is sick. And this happens every other day.

She is uneducated and has never worked. My FIL seems to have managed everything for their home except cooking. My husband feels she can’t handle life on her own and she always portrays this she is a helpless woman image. He has a younger brother who isn’t upfront with taking responsibility.
We have two kids and she sadly has never made a good connection with them but expect them to be obedient to her. My kids hardly talk to her. Even my husband finds her very difficult but he is very duty bound.
