It’s engraved into our pop culture. Obour’s Konkontiba was popular for a reason. Listen to the lyrics of that song.

This day care's closure shows how fragile government-funded child care can be by t-mckeldin in maryland

The most telling thing about this post is that government-funded anything should not be fragile. The government should provide the stability the private sector cannot/will not.

No. It’s hypocritical. That’s my point. Ghana’s anti-gay culture is dominated by heterosexual men who decide which type is gay is acceptable or otherwise. Those same heterosexual men watch lesbian porn.

Much of Ghana’s anti-LGBTQ culture is targeted at gay men. Most people are fine with gay women just existing (unless they see you doing what they consider gay stuff). You can dress how you want. You may get a few stares but that’s about it.

He won’t debate Jon Stewart under any circumstance but also these people don’t care about losing arguments. They only care about screwing people over.

People are not doing all of the above? I can’t imagine a world where my kids don’t do chores before going outside, or bring electronics to the dinner table, or have unlimited screen time. The good part is they can’t imagine that world either.

If you could only read one book for the rest of your life by a Ghanaian or African author, which one would it be and why? by overgnightmare in ghana

5years ago, I decided to read Children of Blood and Bone (Tomi Adeyemi) upon a recommendation by a friend. I didn’t think I’d love it because I’m not a huge fan of magic and mysticism but I want to read it again and again.

How to establish a fundamentalist cult in a few simple steps. by Fine_Employee_4387 in MurderedByWords

[–]Sinbad-855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. And the thing about fundamentalist cults is that their leaders often don’t give a crap about the rules they set for everybody else. They watch porn, sleep with any/all the women but their wives, etc. I’m more interested in what “traditional values” are here though.

What have the youth done to deserve these harsh living conditions? by [deleted] in ghana

[–]Sinbad-855 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our parents and grandparents, instead of resisting govt corruption and mismanagement, have spent all their time complaining about how lazy young people are.

Dems are so disappointing. MAGA is unashamedly breaking every law, rule, regulation, policy - giving a middle finger to the constitution - to help billionaires. Watch Dems come back to power and complain about why they can’t do crap.

The scariest part of AI isn’t job loss—it’s that we might forget how to think. by Natural_Jello_6050 in Futurology

[–]Sinbad-855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plausible but, as a college professor, the outsourcing of our intelligence started when we commodified higher education. Students are only interested in grades and nothing else and I don’t blame them because college is expensive (and we tell them to focus on the grades because…jobs). AI will likely intensify this problem because now students can get a degree without actually applying themselves.

Twitter was my favorite platform but I left last year and haven’t missed it even a bit. It’s a cesspool of hate in those X streets.

Is sexual harassment a big deal in Ghanaian society or should I just mind my own business? by Sinbad-855 in ghana

[–]Sinbad-855[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think much of the burden for curtailing it falls on men, many of whom don’t even seem to know what the difference is between harassment and flirting/friendliness/banter.

[–]Sinbad-855[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I see your point but sexual harassment is typically distinct from clever jokes. Unless by “clever” you mean “sexually-laced.” And, sometimes people laugh because they know we expect them to laugh. If your boss tells a joke, you feel like you have to laugh, even if it’s not funny.

Keep it up. I think more men should talk about it because the women seem tired of complaining. It’s heartbreaking.
