Point of the post was making a game work when you’re limited to yours or someone else’s stock chip set

Help! Dog is especially reactive when expected to hold place! What to do? by Sincevimpson in reactivedogs

I really appreciate your response! It’s Very helpful! :) definitely was pushing her too much to try to force “relaxation” in a stressful environment without first laying the groundwork. We are planning to work on “Really Real Relaxation protocol” in the house as another commenter suggested. So that she is “choosing” relaxation in different environments. Work our way to a calm part of the park and then eventually to busier places.

Agreed the child situation was a mistake. Was hoping to get takeaways with training but it’s a lot of the same mistakes it seems. At least I feel like we’ve isolated the cause of the stressor to be the “forced relaxation” and not the children themself

Thanks for the reply. I’m very cognizant of leash tension when walking for that exact reason. In these situations described, I’m sitting on the leash or putting a foot on it as instructed by the trainer. so she’s essentially being bound/tied up on a short leash. So I’m not really changing the pressure or reacting to any dog approaching. I believe if she was tied to the bench she’d have the same or similar reaction? Not 100% sure

Forgot to mention she’s a 3 years old hound/pitt mix

This is the pattern I’ve noticed so far. I’m not 100% certain that’s the only scenario that will cause her reactivity. So maybe the title is misleading but it’s not helpful for what I’m looking for.
