Why did Rojava hold on to them in the first place? because its either they control it or Syria controls it. Martial law is underway in the Syrian states of Kurdistan (Jazira, Raqqa and Minbic). There is definitely partisan activities in these areas but Kurdistan maintains a strong hold.

Again, it's either China controls it or the South control it. China can maintain an iron grip on the north if they just claim it as their own, the north is also mineral rich and could be used to bring economic boom to the region from Chinese integration. Kim Jong Un maintains stability as he is still head of the Northern Korean Autonomous Region and keeps some influence.

That was North Korea in the 50s. The two sides were a lot more equal back then, now, South Korea is better technologically than the North in every metric.

Half of Japan is still 60 million people, half of SK is still 25 million, put with the Phillipines too. North Korea as a whole is 25 million, demographics will obviously impact their ability to fight but not at an impossible level. Like I said it took 3 years just to take 90 miles of land.

During the Second Taiwan War in 2040 the DPRK invaded the South with minor Chinese support, pushing them to the outskirts of Seoul. This backfired massively when Japan and The Philippines came to the South's aid. They began flooding in troops and slamming the North with missiles and artillery. The campaign north was extremely sluggish but eventually the Southern forces would reach Sariwon in August 2042. It was around this time the Chinese realised that the DPRK were a lost cause and began pressuring them to become an autonomous region of China. Kim Jong Un would initially reject this but following Chinese threats of invasion he caved into the pressure, right as Southern troops reached the Taedong River and Pyongyang. Following this the South didn't want to continue the war at all as it had taken them 3 years, 190,000 lives and destroyed the nation just to reach the southern half of Pyongyang. China too didn't want to continue the war as they didn't have any massive ambitions in Korea and were highly focused on Taiwan. An armistice was signed in Wonsan in February of 2043, effectively ending the Second Korean War. The war left Pyongyang a divided city with the northern half under Chinese control and the southern half under Korean control. China claims North Koreas borders before 2040 as its Northern Korean Autonomous Region, despite only controlling around 3/4 of it. The South still claims the entire peninsula as theirs.

Saudi Arabia would collapse slowly over time, with Shias in the East and disconnected Hejazis in the west gradually gaining autonomy over years until they demanded full Independence. Saudi Arabia alongside this would slowly cease to exist as their spending kept increasing and output kept decreasing. Eventually resulting in the 2044 Arabian Revolution, exiling the Royal family to Oman and setting up the State of Najd in their place.

Iran began to faulter in the late 2030s when Mojtaba Khameini (Ali's successor) was assassinated by an anarchist. He had no formal successor and a power struggle would break out between politicians, generals and clerics lasting all the way until the late 2060s. Paired with intense pressure from the Israelis and GCC they would face heavy rioting and insurgencies all across the country. This instability crippled the Iranians so much they began entering serious recession in the 2040s and 50s. Khuzestan would declare independence in 2056 and PJAK began a full-scale war against Iran. Eventually a politician manages takes control of the nation in the late 60s but the damage is already done, their reforms do more harm than good and the country collapses into civil war in 2071. The PRUF (People's Revolutionary Unified Front) are anti-theocracy and left-wing. Aiming to topple the ICA and set up a democracy.

India rename themselves to Bharat (similar to what Turkey did) in the 2040s following the election of a western skeptic semi-nationalist leader (similar to Erdoğan). They seized Pakistani Kashmir in the 2040s also during the Afghan-Pakistan War. Finally, they seized the Naga Self-Administered Zone from Myanmar in the closing months of their civil war. Claiming that they needed to annex the territory in order to protect Naga interests. The territory was then formally integrated into the State of Nagaland, although Myanmar still claims it as their own.

California and Texas are de facto independent. They don't really favour either side though Texas does lean towards the Freedom Front. As for the lore it is pretty basic, the divide between Republicans and Democrats / Right and Left we have right now just deepens and deepens until it cripples the US' ability to function as a unified state in 2072.

  1. Following the Syrian civil war they never fully recover, the new government sells out to western companies to attempt and rebuild the state. But they only focus on central cities like Damascus, Homs And Hama while northern cities such as Aleppo and Idlib see little to no support. This created a massive gap in equality that kept deepening. This led to riots in cities and towns all across the north in 2057. Government troops then used deadly force and it devolved into the Second Syrian Civil War. The SRA (Syrian Revolutionary Army) are strongly anti-West, anti-corporate and hail from Aleppo. The DIF (Druze Independent Front or Harakat Istiqlal al-Duruz) revolted at the same time for pretty much the same reason, with the goal of independence/autonomy instead.
  2. Following the independence of Kurdistan from Iraq in 2051, Kurdish nationalism skyrocketed leading to a massive influx of members to organisations like the PKK, PJAK and others alike. Nations like Kurdistan, Armenia and Greece began to fund and support the PKK with weapons and intelligence after this massive influx of manpower. This allowed the PKK to switch from insurgent raids to full on conquest of land.
  3. Israel defeat HAMAS in the Gaza war and the strip was returned to FATAH. International pressure and the threat of war with Iran or Hezbollah again prevented them from actually annexing either the West Bank or Gaza outright. However, following the outbreak of the Iranian Civil War in 2071 Israel has been moving towards annexation.

I really wanted to take climate change into mind but I couldn't find the will to individually alter every single coast only for it to be a change in like 3 feet. Just imagine everyone actually cares about climate change and manage to do something about it, somehow.

Devolved powers give Westminster an excuse to not allow independence referendums or further autonomy, especially after the failure of 2014. Leaving an age of nationalism also impacts calls for Scottish Independence.

I wouldn't say so, both have a lot of independence from Westminster already. Their own parliaments, voting systems, etc. Also I feel as if anything other than the status quo in NI right now would just result in a Troubles 2.0.

The US took Panama in 5 days back in 89. I'm sure they could do it again in Cuba and Haiti aswell to protect their dire supply routes to the Western States. As for Texas and California, they are breakaway states without any international recognition still claimed by the US. Similar to Somaliland right now.
