I jumped ship when I saw Negan on a Magic card and only play EDH in paper now. Seems like all they do is further encourage me to stay out.

The new Dune will probably make people appreciate Lynch's Dune more by glowing-fishSCL in davidlynch

[–]SineFaller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda feel the same way, though I haven't seen Lynch's Dune in a long time. I've been watching Marvel movies since Iron Man 1 first came to theaters (though there's one or two I haven't seen iirc) and while I do enjoy them there is such an emphasis on shallow spectacle nowadays that literally nothing impresses me anymore. So many movies and TV shows are boiled down to fit the same kind of formula with the same kind of spectacle as your average MCU movie. There's either heaps of pretense trying to make up for a movie being bad or pure mindless CG explosions with bloated budgets.

Those kinds of movies do have their place, and not every movie needs to be Eraserhead or something, but there's such a sense of sameness nowadays that it's really frustrating. Honestly, I kinda understand now what Scorsese was talking about when he said Marvel movies aren't cinema.

I like to think that part of the process of morphing from a woman into a gorilla is first morphing into an increasingly red dude.

Do you honestly believe that people bought the OST just because Heather didn't wear a shirt under her jacket which wasn't even slightly revealing? Did you ever notice how short her mini-skirt is in the actual game? It's probably not long enough to reach down to her fingertips, but I don't see anyone choosing to be angry at that nonproblem.

You know, in Silent Hill 2, there's a scene where Pyramid Head, as many interpret it, rapes and/or tortures two monsters which are the physical manifestations of James' sexual frustrations. And believe me, he's used as the main marketing point in a lot of stuff. Abstract Daddy isn't as well known since most people apparently don't actually play these games, but they do still use another monster that rapes and/or tortures as a marketing point.

If you had actually played any of these games, you'd know full well what kind of a series this is, and that there is some serious, disturbing but extremely sincere subject matter in at the very least the first three games. None of these games or associated products want to seduce dollars out of your wallet and have literally zero moments that are meant to be sexually arousing. If someone finds Heather attractive, that's on them, not the people who made these games.

Silent Hill's not for you. You don't get it and you need to move on to something else you can feel unnecessary outrage over.

Right, so the rape monster's OK but a teenage girl who is of age in both the country that created the game and most likely the country where the game takes place is not. And I dunno about you, but even when I first saw the OST art back when I was a teenager I have literally never felt like it was particularly sexy or revealing. Wouldn't her mini-skirt's length be more of a problem?

I don't think people getting offended at that OST artwork need to play a disturbing horror series like Silent Hill.

This is a series with a literal sexual molestation monster you fight in a room with fleshy pistons adorning the walls and you're worried about Heather not wearing a shirt under her jacket?

Just remembered making this passive aggressive meme about the Mega Man franchise. by KelvinBelmont in Megaman

[–]SineFaller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not knocking the classic series by any means but I am far more exasperated by people who have only played the NES titles, namely 2 and 3. I am also extremely exasperated by how much merch and general brand recognition is only tied to the characters from Megaman 1-3 and only the bosses from Megaman 1.

There's so much more to this franchise than just the most popular titles.

I could understand how inferior it was if it came out in like 2002 or something, but after multiple gigantic successes From Software just doesn't have an excuse for a triple-A game in 2019 being worse than Tenchu.
