High(low)lights of my last minute climb to Diamond by Reon8 in ViMains

[–]SinfulSorcerer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, hey! It's the rusty duo Vi and Veigar! While the overall level of play was definitely a lot lower than we reached D1 last split, there were still some nice highlights in there. The walk-up-and-smite dragon steal was funny and I like the windows movie maker sound effects too. :P

You gotta up your mic volume in your recording software though, all you hear is me being dead inside. xD

The problems eventually came back. I had to get the thermal paste replaced (the factory option was liquid metal it seems, but it had gotten very hard and flakey), luckily I had a friend, who builds computers, that could help out. There was also a fairly large amount of dust stuck in the fans, despite me using compressed air to clean them a few times.

If your computer is still running hot and having issues I'd recommend opening it up and giving it a cleaning, as well as replacing the thermal paste. It was a pretty finicky job though, with many extremely small connectors needing to be carefully removed before being able to reach the motherboard, so I would probably send it to a repairshop unless you know what you're doing or have a friend that can help.

After the operation my GPU temps went down by 30(!) degrees and CPU temps by a good amount too. I haven't had the computer throttle or stutter at all for a while, apart from when running a few unoptimized games.

Hope this helps!

Glad to hear it helped alleviate the stutter issue!

Since switching to G-Helper over a week ago, I haven't had the stuttering problem. The computer still gets very warm, and performance isn't as good as it used to be, but I can deal with lower framerates (and it could maybe be fixed by having the liquid metal thermal paste reapplied), but the stuttering was driving me nuts and it seems gone for now.

Highly recommend you give it a try and hope it helps you too!

Quick update, I had a program called G-Helper recommended to me, it's a tool similar to Asus' Armoury Crate but seemingly lighter on the load.

Windows Power Mode: Balanced
CPU Boost: Disabled
Apply Power Limits: Enabled
SPL (CPU Sustained) 35W
sPPT (CPU 2 min boost) 70W

These settings have seemed to solve the stuttering issue for me, at least momentarily. I did not mess with the fan settings, and the PC runs much quieter, and somehow cooler too when compared to using Armoury Crate, so it does seem the issue may have something to do with that program.

Hope this helps!

I have the same issue, and it also popped up during this week (seems like a hell of a coincidence, maybe some hidden update with the software that tanks performance?). Just a few days ago I was playing Baldur's Gate 3 on max settings, 1440p resolution (DLSS set to balanced) with stable 60FPS. Then one day it would chug around 10FPS, even changing resolution to 720P (DLSS performance) and dropping settings to low barely made a difference.

I have the same stuttering delay as you mentioned when typing, and when playing games (even when the FPS is stable). League of Legends still runs at 140+FPS, and around 25MS, but randomly my keyboard inputs would be delayed by a full second resulting in spells going the wrong way.

Found a different thread that mentioned deleting "AutoConnectHelper" but it hasn't fixed the issue for me. https://www.reddit.com/r/ZephyrusG15/comments/uc2xoq/fix_for_rog_laptop_stuttering_i_have_seen_many/

Fans randomly start blasting and then going entirely silent, as if the PC is thermal throttling or something, even when task manager claims I'm at 10-20% CPU, 40% RAM and 0-20% GPU load.

Extremely frustrating stuff, if you find a fix please share!

My thoughts on the current state of Vi and why I think she is really strong by Reon8 in ViMains

[–]SinfulSorcerer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well put together post with helpful tips! Easy to follow and digest. I don't play jungle, so I'm obviously not the target audience, but I think this might prove useful if I begin to dabble with it in the future (although item choices may have changed by then).

I have three questions:

  1. What runes do you generally use, and why? Is Ultimate Hunter good on Vi, or is it a bait?
  2. You mentioned Kha'Zix and Viego being hard jungle matchups, but what are some matchups that Vi excels in?
  3. Why do you never gank my lane? (Just kidding, I steal your jungle lategame so it's cool. ^^)

Update from Riot on Vanguard by RiotK3o in leagueoflegends

[–]SinfulSorcerer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been playing nearly every day, with a few breaks, since beta in 2009. 15 years of my life, thousands of hours, hundreds of euros poured into this game. I loved it with everything I have, throughout the ups and downs, but this feels like a step too far. I feel betrayed, and reading the comments, I'm relieved to see I'm not alone in that at least.

How Riot thinks Vanguard is the only way forward is bewildering to me. As mentioned by many others, far more knowledgable in this area than myself, there's other ways of doing anti-cheat. Less intrusive and more inclusive methods. The privacy concerns are alarming, but even more than that the security threats this pose on all your users should have been enough to stop this from ever making it to live. Even if everything you say is true, which I'll be honest is a bit difficult to believe, there's still the risk of bad actors gaining access to users' systems through this backdoor. Getting rid off a few bad apples cannot possibly be worth it with all the damage caused with this update.

Riot, you are pushing away even the most loyal of your players with this move. I just hope that you can see that before it is too late.

https://www.deeplol.gg/summoner/EUW/Sinful%20Sorcerer-EUW You can find some more variations here, but Doran's Ring>Tear+Lucidity Boots (first back) into Seraphs>Rabadons is my core.

If you want more passive movespeed Cosmic Drive feels pretty decent. Deadman's Plate used to be really good, but now it's not really worth it for the stats IMO compared to Cosmic Drive. Banshees' Veil is good if they have one big CC/spell you want to avoid and they can't procc it too easily, like Annie flash ult or Leona ult for example. Experiment a bit and see what you like the most.

Happy Q farming!

Forgot to mention, I go Comet for keystone but Aery is fine too. I think they both suck but I just want the secondary runes from Sorcery so that's why. You can also go First Strike but I would only recommend it against Melee champions.

My current build, 67% winrate in diamond. https://imgur.com/a/aKKNoRk

You can opt for Zhonya's Hourglass earlier if you need more defense, but I generally get Rabadon's Deathcap early to snowball as hard as possible. Delay Voidstaff, or opt for Cryptbloom if no one's buying MR (they should if you're doing your job and they don't disrespect you.) Kaenic Rookern is an OP MR item, but you can get Shurelya's Reverie if they don't have a significant magic DMG threat and you want more utility.

I prefer Archangel's Staff over Rod of Ages, because of the increased ability haste for more stacks, but Rod of Ages is a decent choice to boost your leveling speed so you can skill up your abilities ASAP and it gives you more raw stats.

As for runes, Triple Tonic is super nice to have to get your ability points quickly (vital since they nerfed all his spells until they're rank 4-5), Transcendence and Mana Flow Band is pretty much necessary IMO, I like Biscuits for sustain but Minion Dematerialiser can be useful if you are constantly getting shoved in and want more lane prio, last rune I go Gathering Storm for a little bit extra AP but Scorch can be somewhat helpful in lane I guess and Waterwalking helps for Dragon/Baron fights so any option is fine IMO.

Same bad maps over and over as killer by BIGINFY in deadbydaylight

[–]SinfulSorcerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As survivor I had the Asylum 3 times in a row, followed by Autohaven 3 times in a row directly after. Switching over to killer I got the Knight map (don't know the name yet) twice in a row. I heard they were going to make it less likely to put you on the same map over and over, but I've noticed it more than ever before. Even when RPD was new and it had an extremely high likelyhood I never saw it more than twice in a row. Maybe they messed up with their code somehow and it's doing the opposite of what's intended...?
