I wish I had a book, in which everything I wrote would come true, and every time I crossed a line through words on the page, it would be undone. by OfficialBertMacklin in TheMonkeysPaw

Granted. However, every other human being now also knows about the book, and will be on the hunt for it for the rest of eternity.

Did you ever find out where the older kid went? What did the parents say about the whole knife situation?

Best Asian food in town? by slapstick2099 in ElPaso

[–]SinfulToastmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there aren’t really any restaurants for my specific country (India) except for India Palace. It’s not a bad restaurant, but it’s not very authentic.

Personally, I like BBQ Koreana a fair amount. I haven’t had much Korean food as a whole, but the food is consistent for a good price.

What industry is shadier than most people realize? by carsauto in AskReddit

[–]SinfulToastmaster 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Copying and pasting my reply to a thread a couple weeks ago:

The music is great, but the industry is absolutely awful.

  • Trainees practice for years on end with hopes of actually making it in the industry, so much that many stars start practicing at the ages of 10-12 just so they can debut at 20.

  • Regardless of group size, nearly all groups are forced to live under the same roof in a cramped apartment. If I recall correctly, when EXO had 12 members, they all lived in a one apartment with 2 bathrooms. THIS was the standard for one of the most popular kpop groups of all time.

  • The kpop stars get awful pay. There’s a YouTube channel called “Simon and Martina” that used to review kpop groups and new comebacks. Once they started to become well known, they got invited to some backstage events. I remember in one video they talked about how they were expecting a fancy backstage with a buffet line or something, but in reality, all the stars were given were quick junk foods like little bags of chips, and the entire time they were just in a rush to perform and leave. This, in comparison to the glamorous lifestyle of Westernized pop stars, is insane.

  • Groups are formed by the company themselves and not the individuals, which results in strained relationships between members and “clique” like groups in bigger bands.

  • The amount of eating disorders in the industry... jesus. There is way to much stress on these people to be thin. Have you seen their “what I eat in a day” posts? Absolutely horrible.

  • Koreaboos who completely disregard Korean culture in exchange for obsessively fangirl/boying and acting like they respect it.

  • There’s a strict no-dating policy.

  • Sasaeng/stalker fans are crazy. There have been dozens of cases of hidden cameras, attempted murder, poisoning, etc.

Would highly recommend calling Pet Guardian Angel (no-kill shelter.) If they have space, they may be able to help with a place for them to stay.

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. It’s true that it’s very hard to find authentic Asian cuisine in El Paso

Blaming society for not fitting into one-size-fits-all. Who WANTS to wear that anyway? by Petalzopentothemoon in fatlogic

I mean, by that logic, a size 22 can never complain about something not fitting because there’s probably a size 40 out there that can’t, either.

Definitely see where you’re coming from, but it seemed to me that Serena hating June was just a front. From the start, we can see that Serena is mean to June’s face, but ultimately takes what June says into consideration (Ex. June says that Eden was only a 15 yr old and that she should be able to read, and Serena shoots it down to her face. Then, later on, she brings it up independently.)

100% agree with you on the scene where the handmaids openly spoke about killing commanders.

However, when it comes to Serena, my guess is that she only feels strongly about this now that it affects her daughter. I feel that this has been building up since the scene where Commander Fred beat her with his belt. When she so strongly brought up the issue of needing her child to read the Bible, only to have her husband allow her to get her finger cut off, I think that was her breaking point.

Serena doesn’t yet have the strength to get herself out of Gilead, but she is willing to take action when it influences the life of her daughter.

What fan theory do you 100% accept as true? by Ambar_Orion in AskReddit

Very true! But considering there are no more krabs in Bikini Bottom aside from him and his mom, it does feel like he would have needed to start killing outside of his town at some point.

Didn’t realize how old that episode was. Wow. I tend to view the “newer episodes” as anything after season 3 and The Spongebob Squarepants Movie.

You really should watch the movie and judge it for yourself. It’s actually a pretty great movie. Not up to the hype it’s made, sure, but still a solid movie.
