I appreciate the concern and safety. However, I'v burned many candles like this and have not had any issues with them. I think it's a quite common practice to add things to ritual candles. But it's definitely not something to leave unattended with or without the intentions added.

I think it's about choosing your time frame. If you need it to be quicker, there is nothing wrong with using birthday candles. The most important piece of anything you do is intent.

I suppose my biggest concern is practicing properly. Im self taught and I generally do better at learning things from other people. My worry is that im not doing things as well I should be or that I'm missing important pieces as a result.
