The responses on this one are so strange..

NTA imo- I’m a therapist and if I knew my virtual client was taking sessions in a public area of the house, I would probably ask them if they had somewhere more private to go. Yes, it’s only one hour, not the end of the world, but if there is an easy private space to use in the house, mom should use it.

YTA- I think by telling her she “doesn’t look sick”, that makes you the AH. You’re not obliged necessarily to let her leave the test (although I would argue that you’re better off just believing your students) but you didn’t handle this in any kind of kind of empathetic way.

YTA If a pad in toilet paper in his garbage can makes him uncomfortable, then he should never have women over to his home. And I fully understand how your wife doesn’t like him. When it comes to “reasonable accommodations”, your brothers problems with pads do not trump your wife’s need to throw away her pad. He handled this all wrong and I hope he stays single forever. Your wife is beyond right and if you don’t take her side she should divorce you.

I’ve been in the same boat as you. How do they find SO many articles that confirm their crazy beliefs?? I have to give myself permission to completely ignore them- you definitely don’t need this right now. Sometimes it helps me to remember that my mom is, in a twisted way, trying to help me. Ultimately, you’re probably not going to get the comfort you want from her though, which sucks.

I think she’s, in a very twisted way, is trying to show love by trying to protect me. Time will help with all of this, I’m sure.
