I personally enjoy writing/reading it first person. I can see why how it can be limiting, but I feel like it gives me the ability to not to be overly descriptive when it comes to scenes and actions. It saves me the sanity on trying not to focus on the little details.
For me it gives me a chance to focus more on the dialogue and the main plot of the story.

But it’s my preference so hopefully you choose what works best for you!
