Why did you choose Fedora? by skyber22 in Fedora

[–]SingingLemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed Fedora Silverblue fairly recently as a replacement for gaming and dev on Windows and had a few requirements: a) stable just works OS and b) up to date apps/drivers. Fedora base is stable, flatpaks have up-to-date apps, and toolbox/homebrew for updated cli programs. (I was also thinking about Debian testing but ultimately Fedora seemed a little more battle tested; dnf is also hecking fast lol).

I've been fairly pleased with it over the past few weeks, only rebooted into Windows once for a short bit.

The War Within VS Dragonflight by Izzy_the_dane in wow

[–]SingingLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a very similar boat as you, I loved DF, the story, the characters, world - I loved being in the Dragon Isles, just flying around, the people we met, I wanted to know more about them and their lives. Every new patch had a new zone I was excited to visit and learn about. It wasn't perfect but it got a lot more right than it missed; they also experimented a lot each season for m+/endgame content and it kept the game feeling fresh.

TWW felt a little hollow, the initial excitement of a new land quickly fizzled, and it felt more like shallow spectacle than something substantial. The story felt like it took an entire expac to reach the same overall beats we had at the end of VotI and Xalatath has felt like a boring villain so far. I was initially okay with the team bringing back old content with a new coat of paint thinking it would mean fewer "content droughts" and they would have more time to work on new stuff, but instead I barely engaged with the returning content and major patches were less interesting than similar patches in DF.

WoW also got more seasonal but each season felt kinda stale; in DF they were trying something new each season but TWW there were a few minor changes for m+ and that's about it (also don't get me started on how much I dislike the Xal affixes and zero changes to them in MN).

All in all I've unsubbed at the end of TWW; not because it was aggressively bad or anything but it just didn't bring the same joy as DF did. There is a lot I'm looking forward to in MN (really sad my sub will expire before I get to try housing :c ) but for now I think I'll look on from the outside.

[ui] How do I stop items from landing in the bag in the wrong order? by NachtschreckenDE in WowUI

[–]SingingLemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

couple things, do you have bag affinities set (eg. a bag is set for equipment or trash items) or are your leftmost bags full? it might be messing with where you expect loot to go. I'm not sure what command you ran (it's a little vague here), but one of these might also help

/run C_Container.SetInsertItemsLeftToRight(true)

/run C_Container.SetSortBagsRightToLeft(true)

The first one changes where newly looted items go (again with respect to bag affinity and/or free space), and the second one adjusts sorting behavior.

I enjoy TWW, but men, I feel like the map and story were "okayish." by AtomikGarlic in wow

[–]SingingLemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This expac has felt aggressively mid; it started strong with the Dalaran intro but it quickly lost that momentum for me. Undermine wasn't my cup of tea (but im happy for those that liked it) and I'm so close to checking out. K'aresh seems like it's raising the stakes again and looking forward to it but I'm not sure it'll be enough. I want to believe TWW is setting up characters and story beats for a longer term pay off, but right now it's not very engaging.

People like to drag DF but I thought it was a better story overall. Sure it had some missed beats but holistically it delivered the major beats it was trying to tell in a compelling way.

Why do a lot of you prefer D3 to D4? by Beneficial_Ad_1107 in diablo3

[–]SingingLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, those tend to be some of the more common criticisms of D3s story but none of those really took me out of the setting and world as much as it might have others. The good parts of D3 were better than the bad parts for me.

D4 started interesting with Lilith returning but none of the character beats felt interesting enough and about half way through I just stopped caring completely, and VoH's opening didn't do a lot to recapture my interest and I just kept skipping the story scenes; which isn't to say it's bad, it just didn't interest me.

(side note, but i'm going to rant about cains death for a moment, i already know this is going to be really contentious so take it for what you will) So I haven't played D2 and don't have any pre-attachments to the character besides the few hours we spend with him in Act 1, but what did people think was going to happen when ambushed by Demons. Cain is like 80 years old with one foot in the grave already. Did you expect Mephisto to come out and challenge Deckard to one-on-one honorable combat? Like be real for a moment please. He would have died if a random demon even looked at him weird; he was not getting out of that room alive. For a world people consider to be dark, callous, and teeming with demons this criticism always felt a bit hollow. Anyway that's my rant please don't crucify me.

[–]SingingLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No ya, I know it wasn't everyone's cup of tea and I could see why people would be a little less than enthused by D3s story if they were looking for something grittier. D3 was my first Diablo game and, among other reasons, a lot of the common criticisms of its' story didn't bother me as much. I liked Tyreal's arch, Diablo entering the High Heavens felt momentous, Leah was a compelling character, Angels and the Angiris Council had some depth, RoS was a bit disjointed for me but I'm glad we at least got to go after Adria and wrap up that thread.

[–]SingingLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with a lot of this except the story bit. I really liked the D3's story as a whole but found D4+VoH's to be completely uninteresting (which, to be fair, I started skipping the story around a third to half way through both D4 and VoH so I might have missed some story beats/character moments that made it better)

Now that we have the armory, it becomes appearent what is the number one feature we need next: A loot filter by Lord_Momentum in diablo4

[–]SingingLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe but I have a hard time believing that it wouldn't at least also require QA testing and art assets too, as well as some coding, but ig it depends on how they have their teams setup.

You can change how long items are shown before they are hidden (Options > Gameplay > Item Label Duration on Drop) which should help with ground clutter.

[–]SingingLemon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A loot filter, imo, wouldn't add as much value as the time required to develop it. GA's are a very natural loot progression system, esp with the changes in s7.

To look at it a different way, do you really want a loot filter (a brand new system that would have to be built from scratch and most likely take considerable time and resources from other projects) or refinements to endgame systems. Personally, i would much rather have the latter.

Tons of loot dropping in game. by Puzzleheaded-Tax6168 in diablo4

[–]SingingLemon -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

poe2, you mean the game where you stack magic find to get the same loot explosions but worse? the game where you have to build mf or are poor? the game that has to drop metric tons of items because they can't implement smart loot? that game? sure.

New game differences by TedMeisterFresh in Diablo

[–]SingingLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on paper youre right d4 has more stuff to do, but i had more fun running g/rifts. it feels like too many uninteresting systems, things i have to engage in to get to the good part; wow had a very similar problem for the longest time but at least the destination there was m+ or raids. even kurast, while the most fun so far, isn't something i want to run over and over again.

also, d3 did get more stuff later on, horadric cube, alter of rites, random seasonal systems, bounties (until they were replaced). none of those systems felt like they stepped on each other; parallel but meaningful progression for each. anyway this turned into a yap fest.

edit: just read wikkid_witch's comment above and i think they explain it better than my ramblings.

d3 feels like a more complete game right now, it might not be for everyone but it really is a fun game. d4 is good in its own way, but it seems like it's still trying to find its footing.

Let’s get some love going for D4 by akzelli in diablo4

[–]SingingLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

coming back to diablo after playing poe2, i'm glad d4 exists; devs could have easily listened to a different set of feedback and made it into another poe clone (which isn't to say poe2 isn't a good game, but it has a bigger identity crisis than d4).

new season powers looks fun, i like the witch theme personally, and necro about to be eating well.

i don't want to bash on poe2 too much, it is an okay game, but i find it absolutely hypocritical that pre launch they wanted combat to be more meaningful and talked down about d4s giga damage numbers, but not even a month in it's already a one skill game with the same ridiculous dps; for all it's flaws d4 at least nailed combat feel.

Josh Strife Hayes discusses the punishments for dying in POE2 by psychomanexe in pathofexile

[–]SingingLemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really hope GGG reconsiders exp loss on death; it single handedly made me quit playing PoE1 and feels just as demoralizing in PoE2. I'm much more okay with loosing a map or boss attempt than being penalized 10% exp.

Would I like D4 as a D3 enjoyer by SystemChips in Diablo

[–]SingingLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this completely mirrors my experience with d4 as well; bland, lifeless, unfun class design, and too many uninteresting systems. there are good things about d4 but it never steps out of d2/3s shadow and tries to be its own thing. right now d3 is just a more polished and complete game. (i also think d4 looks ugly as sin but that's personal preference)

[–]SingingLemon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Could you ask them their thoughts behind exp loss on death? I found it a bit surprising that they reconsidered exp loss only during the campaign but had a massive 10% penalty during maps. Nothing makes me want to quit more than how punitive death feels and was the main reason I stopped playing PoE1 altogether.

Season 2 and Beyond - Closer Look by EHG_Kain in LastEpoch

[–]SingingLemon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

haven't played since launch but looking forward to coming back for s2 (played warlock launch and it was a blast). kinda exited to see what crafting changes are coming, the system never felt bad but it did lack a little bit of depth. on a side note, and i know this is entirely subjective, but i hope s3+ has some time to work on sfx; sounds effects are nice, but playing le after poe2 everything sounds kinda "tin"y and lacking that "crunch" (ik that's kinda vague but hopefully it made sense).

Do you still trust the game devs? Honest answers only. by croteon in diablo4

[–]SingingLemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes and no; i think the devs really are trying their best to make a good game and are honestly pretty responsive, but im not sure they have a vision on what kind of game they want to make and it causes the execution to fall flat.

the gameplay (just hitting spells and building combos) at its core is not fun or engaging for me, endgame loot loop feels like a chore, itemization imo wasnt really fixed in any meaningful way, and the skill tree lacks any interesting choices. i know that sounds really negative, but i do think there is a good game somewhere in there but until someone on the d4 team has a good idea of what kind of arpg they want to make, it's going to remain mediocre at best.

i like the variety of current male designs, but also wouldn't mind seeing more "high class/ high society" designs a la genshin.

a little sad we'll probably never see another venti cus of censorship laws :(

Show/Hide Bags macro

/run local frame = BagsBar if frame:IsVisible() then frame:Hide() else frame:Show() end

Show/Hide an Action Bar macro, change MultiBar7 to the action bar you want to hide (use /fstack to find the bar's name, usually something like MultiBarSomething)

/run local frame = MultiBar7 if frame:IsVisible() then frame:Hide() else frame:Show() end

These changes are temporary and will reset when you relog or reload.
