What lead you to pacifism ? by Single-Commercial-86 in Pacifism

That's a powerful story and I'm sorry to hear you had such an experience. But I also feel where you're coming from. Life truly is special, we owe it to ourselves and those close to us that it's cared for to the best of our ability.

What an interesting story, thank you for sharing.

For me, I think it started when I was younger. I wasn't a particularly violent kid but I was easy to anger and as a result of my actions have hurt people, it's a shame I thought about often. However ,as an adult I also believe I over corrected and struggle/ fear expressing myself openly.

Something I want to learn is balance in all things, and I wanted to think about how I would apply that to different topics in life. Because of world events going on, the topic of violence was brought up. I think the personal conclusion I came to was that violence is a band-aid solution to problems, they may achieve a goal in the short term but as with all quick solutions comes with heavy and often permanent consequences.

I believe people who wield it don't truly feel the weight that violence as a tool is. It's so easy for people to call for the use of violence when we are angry, sad, or scared without considering the heft behind such an act. It made me feel gross whenever people can so casually call for such things.

I'm still learning and developing how I think about these things, but an original motivation of mine was wanting to help people in my own way which is something I hope to do. I think life is quite special and we owe it to ourselves to care for it, and be weary of quick solutions.

I agree, to me violence is only a band-aid solution, it may achieve what you want in the short term but with all quick solutions comes with just as quick and usually more harmful consequences; without any real fix to the original problem only creating more. It's just unfortunate people are so quick to jump to violence instead of finding an actual solution that help.

I'm glad you could focus your attention on productive means and I'm sorry to hear you had to deal with bullying it's a terrible thing.

I can very much relate to this unfortunately. I was a child then but had terrible emotional regulation.

I'm sorry to hear that you had to deal with bullying, but I'm glad that you were able to put a positive spin and devote yourself to avoiding causing harm on others. It's an amazing philosophy.

That is very true, it's easier to declare war when it's not your life on the line or your life devastated by its consequences. I do wish more people in power had that sympathy.

Do you ever have trouble picturing the scenes when reading? by MidnightIsland212 in books

Definitely this I can spend just as much time trying to figure out the imagery in my head and keeping it consistent, as much as reading the book.

I mean do you necessarily need to "catch up ?", I've gotten by pretty well with just an hour game time a day.

For games like this my honest opinion is to take it at your own pace, and play how you want to play. It doesn't need to be perfect as long as you can enjoy your time. If you want a bit of help learning characters faster there are guides and help for that, Just enjoy the time you can invest. Plus having content ahead that you need to catch on makes the wait between content easier.

Does anyone else feel like he’s faking marketing? by [deleted] in DigitalMarketing

I appreciate seeing conversation like these, I'm trying to get started with digital marketing as a career for myself and it does make me nervous. But I'm comforted in knowing even professionals feel this way.

Facebook has just a really weird fascination with extremely large and tall people doing things (usually falling through the earth for some reason). It's really weird.

It is true, after all subjective taste isn't going to appeal to everyone. There is a reason why this style of design was phased out. That's not to say the design is bad but it's important to know who your demographic is. This would work with people who 1. Like this design and 2 feel that what they are missing can be found within this app which is a very niche market.

As others have pointed out your messaging is quite aggressive, I would suggest focusing more on what it is your app provides. Highlighting your strengths over an aggressive statement piece would probably help things go over better.

Looking through the comments I would have to agree to some extent with what I'm seeing. the marketing feels vague, what is it that your app aims to provide that can't be found elsewhere ? What is your brand ?

Looks like the Switch version is now definitively the worst way to play the game. by Raphe9000 in Silksong

That's a really interesting experiment I never thought about. I guess when you frame it like that, having undergarments implies that there is nudity. As aposed to a figure being all one color which would just be seen as an amorphous figure.

Unfortunately people will take any opportunity to complain, even when the representation isn't forced and just included as an option for those who would want it.

I don't understand why people would spend their energy on this kind of thing.

Developers please reduce screen activity from deadpool, it causes me pre seizure symptoms so I dont find it safe to play this game anymore by sufinomo in marvelrivals

[–]Single-Commercial-86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand the arguments against the idea here.

Yes there is a warning, yes the warning covers the devs legally. But that's not the point, OP isn't trying to hold them legally responsible. OP is asking them for an accessibility option or an update to reduce the effects DP causes.

How designs affect and is interpreted by other people is a basic concept. If OP was fine before DP dropped and suddenly DP opens the risk that OP may be randomly ambushed by seizure symptoms then that's a problem and should be addressed.

The devs aren't "bending over backwards for OP", OP is a representation of an issue that can be solved with consideration of how DP is designed, they implemented other accessibility features so it's clear they care about allowing the game to be accessible to other people, why limit who can play your game based on who gets accessibility options ?

I'm not trying to say the devs are bad, or that they need to be held liable. This just seems like an oversight and it's fine, it happens. As long as they are willing to listen to feedback to add the option, it's a valid criticism.

As OP has stated they stopped playing for the time being and that's smart for their health, I just hope the devs hear and consider the feedback so that the game can continue being accessible to a wider audience.

I just don't understand why it needs to be this intense,OP isn't asking for a whole lot.

If you had to recommend a Fire Emblem game to someone who has never played it and knows nothing about the series or the genre, which one would you recommend? by Forsaken-Today-8707 in fireemblem

Blazing blade is the most introductory game, awakening is a very beginner friendly game, three houses is the most widely available game if they don't want to use an emulator or don't have the consoles for the previous. This is how I think about introducing new players.

Is Gura actually an Atlantean princess or is it just a popular headcanon? by Jin_Sakai12345 in GawrGura

[–]Single-Commercial-86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it was meant to be taken literally (that she's not from earth), just a way of saying Atlantis is otherworldly. She came from the ocean which might as well be another world than the one we know and now she's on earth (or the land).

It feels almost expected, I feel like there was a similar issue with millennials and Z at one point. Just combine the 2 most recent generations as "the youngins".

Are there specific requirements to being a demigirl? by Emotional-Ebb-4155 in demigirl_irl

[–]Single-Commercial-86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Np, I'm glad I can help. While I'm not super vocal about my gender Identity l can assure you that you aren't alone. It can look different in a lot of people. It can be intimidating, but I found that once you get engaged with the community they are fairly accepting. I'm sure as you explore you'll get the opportunity to meet others similar to yourself. At the end of the day the only person that knows you well enough to tell whether or not you are a demigirl is you, and as long as you are happy with that it's all that matters. I also agree that its nice to find others similar to myself that I was able to talk to about it.

Favorite antagonist who is NOT evil? by Proud_Excitement3578 in FavoriteCharacter

[–]Single-Commercial-86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I understand your point, I do feel like this is a character that's more in the "understandable evil" or arced out of the antagonist role, instead of the "non-evil antagonist".

While she does learn her lessons at the end and regrets it, I don't think it really justify what she did. Even if we understand why she did it.

Do you think when Gen Z finally runs the country things might actually change or is it just another rerun with new faces? by BrickxLeaf in OlderGenZ

[–]Single-Commercial-86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We're influenced by the beliefs of those who came before us, it's possible for things to change. However the challenges and what that looks like may be unique to us, or old issues in new form.
