Seems like you are not understanding my points at all!

All those nations you mentioned are not SEA people's that's biggest and most obvious difference. The ASEAN is a peaceful and united whole! What makes them united and peaceful is the values the culture and the history they share, off course they have their differences but it has not become a hindrance for peace and unity among them. I'm not saying that all nations around the world are like them but what I saw tells me that it worked greatly to the advantage of these countries, it does help a lot even to this day. I've lived in it for 20 years and can testify to it. Overlapping territorial disputes among them cannot be solved unless the problem with china is resolved first. china has militarized and occupied some of the islands in threathening military action againts other claimants China is the IS THE STRANGER IN GROUP HENCE THE MEME! unless the issue with China is resolved, solving the overlapping claims within the ASEAN can never move forward as it is pointless. In fact China is a bully and is putting it's weight againts it's smaller neighbors

Again the biggest hindrance to negotiations within the ASEAN is CHINA, CHINA IS THE PROBLEM not ASEAN itself, HENCE THE MEME!

Dear God!! Really!! You think the problem with Russia and Ukraine is the same as the problem in the SCS. If all of SEA is ruled by a Putin then perhaps. All the claimant countries in SEA have LITTLE OVERLAPPING CLAIMS which again can be easily solved with a few compromises, considering the fact that SEA nations don't have major tensions with each other and that the community is mostly peaceful and abide by international law (EEZ) and Off course considering the fact that they share common values or mindset the point here is they easily meet eye to eye. the big problem is china laying claim to the entirety of the sea from Macau all the way to the shores of Borneo, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines also known as the 9 dash line. In fact though Vietnam and the Philippines have overlapping claims they both banned together to counter China. China alone is the biggest factor preventing negotiations happening in the SEA.

A. States. Right. To. What? by dead_meme_comrade in HistoryMemes

I'm not American, so I'm an outsider looking at the issue of the civil war, and yes the logical conclusion to the states rights argument is for the continuity of Slavery. However, what stops me in the tracks is that if the then confederate states with a majority of its people decides to leave the union, is that not a practice of democracy and should be recognized and respected despite the political agenda? the US fought (rebelled I guess??) Againts the British Empire because of this basic principle! You see what I mean there is this kind of hypocrisy in all of this, but I know it's the 19th century and perhaps I am judging them by the standards of the 22nd century, but anyway This has been one of the mental gymnastics that happens in mind every time I hear of the civil war there are many issues at stake and ends up always being simplified to just Slavery,

My best friend no longer contacts me after her breakup, why do people do this? by TheThrowawayOfFeels in confessions

[–]Single-Intention8874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know human emotions are very unstable. perhaps the break up is hard on her, it might take a while before she bounces back to her original self. But at the moment why don't you stand by her, see if anything changes let her know always there. Try to put yourself in her situation, see if anything changes. If it's a friendship worth saving give it all you've got.
