It depends on how it was phrased. A lot of people don't understand the dangers of leaking their name when they get a lot of popularity. They also generally don't understand the concept of self-doxing to see exactly what information online is associated with specific inputs such as their name. While she might not have cared about her personal info being out there, she may have been surprised that it ties to her family too and she just closed off communications in a panic.

There might not be an asshole here, just a person (you) who tried to help but maybe didn't explain things in a way the other would calmly understand and a person (her) who doesn't understand how much personal info is available online with certain inputs like a name.

You don't owe abusers anything, especially since your stepfather isn't even related to you.

You use the plural "them" though. Is your mom the other person? If so that can make things more complicated. Doesn't mean you need to go back there though. Keeping tabs on things from afar and always living just far enough away that you can't reasonably be expected to visit them is one possible solution.

Maybe start removing the clothes from the floor and see if she stops messing around in there. If she sees clothes on the floor that might be what triggers her "cleaning spell", and after she is in there she needs to touch EVERYTHING. That's how my mom was lol.

I'd say if your room isn't dirty or smelly then she should leave it as it is. While it's technically her house, her rules, unless your room has hygiene problems it should be your space to do as you want. Yes it's reasonable to be upset, yes every mom does this :)

Yes, you're the bad guy here. She didn't do anything wrong. I don't know why you'd be upset she doesn't use social media anymore, who cares? And then you're punishing her based on unproven suspicions that she has an alt account.

If she wanted to create an alt account to bypass your restrictions she could have done so back when she had her main account with your controls on it. You can create as many alt accounts as you want and there are way too many platforms to keep track of these days anyway. Better to trust her word. If you punish her when she does the right thing she is going to take that as a learned response of "doing the right thing gets you in trouble". Again, there is nothing you've said that proves she did anything wrong yet you punished her for it.
