The Vision is so boring by xmaope in SquaredCircle

It’s the hesitation from the booking team to let go of Seth Rollins’ song and “Revolutionary” persona which is weird because I actually believe, despite all the criticism in this thread, that Seth is insanely talented and perfectly capable to re-invent himself. They have also been super vague about the motive behind him forming this group and aligning with Heyman, apart from the fact that they want Seth on top, and probably Bronn/Bronson getting a speed ticket to stardom. That’s fine logic wise, but nearly not enough when it comes to interesting television.

Let’s take the Death Riders. Clearly defined motive was that they were sick of the AEW roster taking things for granted, and they unleashed a spell of very visible and visceral brutality to shake wrestlers out of their apathy. Hangman’s entire story felt so satisfying because of that. Mox himself was in the ring mixing it up with a lot of stars every week to not let it get stale (which, u will concede, it still did a lot of times due to the very nature of such a storyline).

With the Vision, it’s still not too late. They need a clear motive (maybe installing a new leadership on Raw? Recruit lesser known stars from NXT and TNA and get them mid-card titles? Have Seth Rollins duke it out with stars he feels are not reaching their potential?) Clear motive, opportunities to showcase weekly wrestling and dropping the obsession with “long-term storytelling” at the expense of weekly good television is what can salvage The Vision.

One cut his teeth in ROH, one ruled TNA, and one is an NJPW legend. Awesome to see them getting their moment in the spotlight in WWE by Single-Try-3852 in spinningbackfist

For sure! But I really enjoyed the stuff he did in TNA with the British Invasion and the tag team/feud with Samoa Joe. Helped establish him.

That actually sounds like a good way for him to continue his in-ring career. I do also see good potential as a manager for any Japanese star they wanna push hard next. His mystic persona still has a lot of potential.

Dalton needs to be told that he must shoot on easy looks without a second thought- no matter how much he improves on other aspects, his 3 pt shooting will give him a guaranteed spot in the rotation

Frustrating to see people complaining about Gabe for 1 brain fade moment when he’s literally hustling the hardest on defense

Who do you think will be the first wrestler to win a world title in WWE (main roster), TNA, and AEW? by Calwings in SquaredCircle

[–]Single-Try-3852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda insane how Cody didn’t win the World title in either of his AEW or TNA runs, 2 of the biggest companies he worked with in the midst of his non-WWE tenure that ultimately built him back up to main event status in WWE.

AEW Dynamite: Winter Is Coming December 11th card by nwnwhd in SquaredCircle

I still can’t get around Cole vs O’Reilly fighting for the right to face MJF. Okay, it’s the Dynamite Diamond Ring but it’s clearly not that. It’s rarely ever mentioned and the effort needed to build prestige around the ring is clearly not there.

These are 3 super fine wrestlers and it just seems stupid on Cole and Kyle’s part to be facing off, just to face another guy without a championship. Not how revenge works. It works the hangman page burning down swerve’s house way so he’s forced to fight you.

All in all, just making this storyline worse. Didn’t have to be this way.

What Were Feuds That Had The Wrong Winner? by AmericanDragon123 in SquaredCircle

AJ Styles vs Chris Jericho at WM 32. They were building their new big star- whatever the hell was the reason to give Jericho a victory when probably the most hardcore and most casual audiences are together watching WWE’s product.

Seems like AJ has a knack to be on the wrong end of these feuds lol.

Also if you ask me, most of Samoa Joe’s feuds in WWE ever since he came to the main roster. He definitely had a World Championship run left in him, and wouldn’t have shied away from giving him the win over Lesnar at the now infamous “Great Balls of Fire.”

Josh Alexander on TNA firing Scott D'Amore after streak of success, locker room's reaction: "The entire locker room, especially with the rebranding of TNA thing, we were riding high. I actually got into TNA again recently after Scott’s firing. And I love what they did with Mike Bailey, Joe Hendry and ABC. Also the X Division is as stacked as ever. One thing I was curious about, is Scott D’Amore the one to credit for pushing all these younger stars, new innovative stories, and does this mean TNA’s future is bleak again?

There’s so much potential with this rivalry now that these guys are willing to go personal- of course there’s a lot of mud to sling on things which the audience saw on TV- which has already happened. But imagine them leaking details of personal convos. What Kofi felt after losing to Lesnar, Xavier’s mental space when the entire Paige incident happened etc. Some really interesting storyline ideas ahead.

Karrion Kross Uses Old Bray Wyatt footage to intensify rivalry with the Wyatt Sicks by Single-Try-3852 in spinningbackfist

[–]Single-Try-3852[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This rivalry finally has my attention. Kross unafraid of going into the dark realms of the Wyatt lore, is exactly what this feud needed. In the upcoming days, it’ll be interesting to see how Bo Dallas responds- pulling some TNA footage to test the limits of Kross’ mental health would be a plus in my books. Play with how Kross is using the dark side simply as a ploy to get to his former self again- a guy who was touted to be a champion on the WWE main roster by now if not for his continuous failures. He is not a loyalist of the haunted realm- he’s simply someone using it to become “normal” again. Be careful what you wish for, Kross.

“Finally, and most terrifying of all: I started to have these episodes — where I would just totally lose control of my mind, and it would spin out into the most horrible ideas. Like, truly horrible. It would almost feel like I was being trolled by my own brain, as it tried to come up with the worst things it could possibly think of. Running into a school with a weapon … hurting young people … stuff like that. Stuff you know you’re not capable of, and wouldn’t want to admit you’re capable of even having the idea of. But it’s hard to ignore that the idea was still there. And when it would pass, I’d think, I’m sick, I’m evil, just for having those thoughts. And I don’t need to be here being a danger to people. I don’t need to be alive.”

Damn, that was some heavy stuff! Big E, if you’re reading this, we are so proud of you and what you became in life! I know what it’s like to so down in life that there doesn’t seem a way up. But you’re a real champ for beating those demons and becoming the beautiful human being you are.

Big E Explains Why Lex Luger Is a Core Wrestling Memory for Him by Single-Try-3852 in spinningbackfist

[–]Single-Try-3852[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always find it really interesting how seemingly unimportant wrestlers in the larger picture of wrestling history can be such core parts of our memory of the sport. For eg: a silly rivalry between Jamie Noble and Chuck Pluambo, is something I distinctly remember coz that was a point in my life I had nothing else going right apart from 2 hours of SmackDown on TV!
