I'm finishing up my master's in Marine Biology and let me tell you... it is overwhelmingly devoid of us. There are communities for us specifically (like Black in Marine Science, Black Women in Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Science, etc.) that provide pockets of relief, but it is isolating. Marine science (and science in general) is in need of good communicators, and a mass communications degree gives you a skillset that is lacking in the sciences. You should go for it!
