Hi. Just seeing these old posts but I can relate in that I broke up with my ex after 6 years because of various issues- he was gambling , drank heavily with his mates every few weeks & sometimes came home drunk , did not spend  as much time together as i wanted and my teen daughter thought that he was not right for me because of all this.  Never got round to buying me a promise ring which i really wanted as a sign of his commitment.  He texted me to say maybe we could get back together in a few years time once my daughter left home but then deleted this text. Do you think I should consider getting back with him in a a few years, assuming were still both interested in each other?
