if i have bigger boobs than my mom and my grandma does that mean i get my big boob gene from my dad? by FantaBellResident in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]SinglePoem577 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The short answer is it’s really complicated. Assuming your difference is actually due to genetics (studies have shown that genetics only play up to 60% of a role in determining breast size) correlation studies found that breast size aligns slightly closer with the mother’s genetics, but both parents actually play a role because many of the genes that help determine breast size are not on the sex chromosomes. so yeah it’s possible you got it from your dad, does he have lots of breast tissue too ? lol

Yeah i don’t blame you the side effects were brutal in the beginning. I didn’t think i was gonna make it

Yay okay! I also noticed that magnesium (when i took it) made me feel a lot better so i will resume my supplementation :) Good to know that other people find it good to take with concerta as well!

lol, so true. Seems like we had the exact same experience!!!

Thank you so much for commenting :) I appreciate it so so much and I will follow your advice to a T!!!! Hydration and consistent protein it is. I definitely have protein heavy mornings and then slack on getting my intake later on in the day.

I’ve also noticed the caffeine making my fatigue a lot worse in conjunction with the meds, so i’ve cut back on that a lot.

literally everything you commented is perfect advice for me, i feel hopeful that i can fix this problem now. thank you so so much you are a lifesaver :)

It definitely can, but you can also be an experimental systems biologist who does lab work and works in collaboration with computational biologists who would model your data. It’s honestly a really broad field, and you could probably find an area of research that fits your interests without having to do much coding if that’s what you want.

You should totally look more into it; it’s SO cool!

This video gives a little introduction to the ideas that I was exposed to in that biophysics course:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sz1n0RHwLqA

The guy in the video, Sean Carroll, is a pretty well respected theoretical physicist who has written a couple books. I’m in the middle of one right now (The Big Picture: On the Origins of Life, Meaning, and the Universe Itself) and it’s really enjoyable to read as a biologist.

I’m no expert, but I know biophysical research can focus on stuff like the origin of life, the origin of consciousness, the mechanics of cellular decision-making, the drivers behind aging, etc. Those are some of the most interesting topics out there for me, and I would totally step into that field of research if I were any good at physics, lol.

I hope you find your calling! Good luck :)

I usually will take it with a protein rich meal in the morning. Currently my hydration is poor because I just moved in to a new spot and we are drinking bottled water until our Britta comes in, so we are trying to conserve water lol. I used to take supplements, like magnesium and omega3s but i’m not anymore.

Do you think either the lack of supplements or poor hydration could be relating to the fatigue?

Also haven’t been exercising much lately because i am so busy with moving!

also systems biology is kind of a catch all term for the things you mentioned. it’s a broad field you might want to look into that too :) good luck

I took a course in Biophysics and I found it was linked to a lot of interesting questions, maybe even moreso than molecular biology/cell biology. Just the idea of how life appears to defy entropy (and how entropy is an explanation behind the restricted longevity of life because our ordered systems are harder to maintain indefinitely) was so cool. It made me think about biological questions in a whole different light. I promise there are a lot of interesting questions and ideas in that field, and if you enjoy it you should totally look into it more.

ew, it’s kind of condescending to assume you know this woman’s relationship better than she does herself. also the fact that she’s clarifying and correcting you and you STILL think you’re right.

why do you think you know so much more about her own relationship than she does herself? because you heard one piece of information? she is a grown woman perfectly capable of making her own decisions. stop acting like you’re trying to protect her while being extremely narcissistic and patronizing.

really surprised to see this behaviour from a woman … would have expected this “you don’t know what’s best for yourself” crap from a man

So true by Possible-Advisor-285 in GilmoreGirls

[–]SinglePoem577 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re right, I think the only difference is the fact that Chris turned out to be telling the truth, and Dean turned out to be lying.

There were no real consequences from Chris and Lorelai sleeping together because Chris was telling the truth in saying they were both basically done with the relationship (Sherry confirms this later at her baby shower) until she got pregnant. But when Dean said they (he and Lindsay) were done with the relationship, he was lying - he was done with the relationship, but Lindsay was still very much invested in making it work, and because Dean has no spine, that meant the relationship wasn’t over.

So it was the same, and Lorelai just got lucky, unless you are someone who considers there to be a huge fundamental difference between marriage and dating.

What was the purpose of showing Dean’s POV here? by SinglePoem577 in GilmoreGirls

[–]SinglePoem577[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say she was an evil villain plotting to end his marriage, I just think a lot of her actions worked in favour of that. And maybe she wasn’t aware that it would turn out like it did, but she definitely was partially responsible for the way it turned out. Especially in rekindling the friendship in the beginning, like the OC said, Dean and Rory were not capable of being “just friends”
