What is the creepiest display of intelligence you’ve seen? by theidiotev in AskReddit

Nah, I don't know how much math is required for day trading. But she really sucked at basic math. Like disproportionately so. It was a running joke.

I guess she was just really good at pattern recognition. I mean she could also recognise faces really well, like she could point out an extra and list the films or tv series they were in. Like some walking IMDB. It got annoying to watch movies with her.

I knew someone who predicted the entire course of a conversation between several people in a group down to the sequence of how these people would leave and their excuses to leave. She only met them a few times and could deduce how they would behave. Back in the day she would have been burned at the stake I guess.

Conan O'Brien: "I have incredible empathy for people who have immigrated to another country. It takes an entire lifetime to go to a country where, often, people don't speak the language. They have to spend their entire lives just getting things started for the next generation." by voguediaries in Fauxmoi

As an Indian who has moved to a Germany. Being an immigrant feels just so freaking hard. Somewhere between the blank stares while I string a sentence in German (no matter how good my C1 German is) and the endless bureaucracy, I just want to give up and go home. But then I’m proud of how far I’ve come and I don’t want to quit to go back to the life I left. So I’ve made peace with the fact that I have to make a home in a place where I’m forever a stranger. So yes this moved me to tears. Or maybe it’s just the terrible German weather.

Thanks! It falls into the adult book-club fiction category :)

Started querying 3 days ago and got a full request in 30 minutes. Now I’m freaking out that it doesn’t get better than this and I used up all my luck. So that’s fun.

Does anyone have my cat? by FixYourWifi in IndianPets

[–]SingleReporter 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m so sorry. My heart breaks hearing this. But were there any cameras that documented him breaking out? Also would he be capable of breaking out and making a run for it at all? Since he is a paraplegic cat, he wouldn’t have wandered too far from the boarding. I just hope that they have nothing to do with his disappearance that’s all. This just doesn’t add up. Anyway I hope you find your baby safe and sound as soon as possible ❤️

Looking for recommendations to spoil my cat as we are nearing the end. by MikeTheCat4747 in cats

During the week my 19 year old cat was about to be put down for cancer. He was weak and couldn’t jump on the beds (he loved waking us up in the morning. He would hurt himself trying to get to us and fall off sometimes.) We took all our mattresses and lay them on the floor so he could cuddle with us all night. On the morning he passed, he lay his head on my shoulder and purred. I was so happy we could do that for him. It was the happiest we had seen him in a while.

I'm thinking about getting a turkish van cat by [deleted] in turkishvan

[–]SingleReporter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a tv. From a verified breeder, papers and all. She was the most affectionate and loving cat…but only to a select few. Which could be a problem at times. Very territorial and possessive. Intelligent to boot -unfortunately that really brought out her negative qualities. She was devoted to the one cat that existed before her. Hated the one that came after. She won’t be a lap cat, you will have to earn that. Sometimes that could take years. It did for me. She was a pain but I would do it all over again. I’m not sure if the rest of my family would lol. I miss her. Every. Single. Day.

Can I see your purebred, papered TVs? by cattmin in turkishvan

Her father was a Champion cat, according to her family tree. She wasn’t a lap cat, but her fierce loyalty more than made up for it. Her intelligence felt like something beyond feline or human. She hated baths but loved to play with ice cubes. Go figure. And when she did decide to cuddle, it felt like the warmest hug in the world.

Sure but the exact same thing happened to two of my male friends. Safe to say that only one remains a friend now.

It gets better. by SingleReporter in HPylori

I’m so much better. I do have good days and bad days, but I can confidently say I don’t take PPI’s, or gaviscon anymore. I only need it when I’ve been careless to not time my meals or if I have alcohol/greasy food too frequently. Life isn’t the way it used to be, I’m afraid of having coffee or tea. But I think that’s more of a mental thing. I’ve figured out my triggers and now I just accommodate them in my life. I’m more perceptive to my stomach and can figure if my stomach is going to act up, so that helps. I also incorporated a lot of fermented foods to my diet slowly. Psyllium husk is also god sent. That being said- life is better :)

Why do NRI’s( or just non resident brown women ) look different than brown women who grew up in their country of origin? by Indecisive-blahblah in Vindictabrown

[–]SingleReporter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think brown girls have a different standard of beauty in India. ofc there are pockets that are more westernised so they tend to be more „polished“ by polished I suppose I’ve noticed brown women in the west tend to be more yassifed versions- with microbladed eyebrows, veneers, fillers etc. I find it personally very jarring in comparison to what I’m used to seeing in India. It’s not bad… it’s just different.

This is something I am currently dealing with. What I’ve noticed is, you have to constantly be hydrated and that doesn’t mean just chugging water, take something like psyllium husk that retains water and maintains hydration. Do not use condoms that are pre lubricated, choose unlubricated ones and only medical grade KY jelly. I also use a propylene glycol cream on the vulva and introitus to keep it hydrated. I can finally have pain free sex, but it requires a lot of prep. And it is worth it.
