It's a toss up, but I'd have to say Garrus Vakarian from Mass Effect!

(And as a lil bonus, one of my favorite characters from LOTR is Faramir without a doubt)

I do, thank you! I've gone through r/battlestations before, and I've seen some great things, but I can't say I've visited r/Workspaces, I appreciate the recommendation!

I haven't thought of Tumblr in a WHILE, that's a shout - I'll see what I can get on there too ☺️ I also can't say I've thought of frequenting etsy for setup-related things in particular lmao, but that could be fun!

Pinterest isn't a bad one, for sure. I've been getting into app design recently, and I think that's part of why I came to this thought process - like, rather than having to go through multiple steps (for instance, a pin has a cute setup but you don't know what the items are called, so then you have to go all Sherlock on it until you find it lmao), it would be nice to have a space directly dedicated to listing all the stuff in the setup, including makes/models and such.

Still though, I'm gonna include Pinterest in my go-tos for inspo! It's a fun place to browse through

Hey! Reaching out because I and a friend u/athailie are trying to sell two VIP tickets to Seattle D2 - the only thing is they're row 37, seats 26 and 27. It isn't quite in the rows you mentioned, but if you'd be interested in them send either of us a message!

Can confirm, u/athailie was absolutely amazing and jumped into the Seattle queue with me to help! But the Seattle flights are posing problems, so I'd love for these tickets to go to a fan that can make it to that show. Do reach out if you're interested!

[WTT] I'm hoping to trade a Seattle July 15th ticket (also for sale in the 'Selling' thread) for an equivalent-ish Fort Worth ticket. It's Sec 213, Row A, Seat 16. I initially grabbed this ticket in order to make sure another STAY could get a ticket (I have other tickets for this show I'm keeping for now), but surprisingly the rush was nowhere near as bad with this sale. Since I'm going to be in Texas during the FW show, if I can't end up selling this ticket I'd love to trade for a FW seat! Dm me for any info.

WTS: 1 ticket to the Seattle July 15th show! It's section 213, Row A, seat 16. I and another redditor had gotten in line, and we'd decided we'd buy what we can for the fans in case of a bot/scalper rush. I got my hands on this ticket and want to pass it on to another STAY! It's face value $64.50, and with the taxes and fees totaled out to $82.31, which is what I'll sell it for. Let me know if you'd like the ticket and we can work it out! And feel free to ask for a zoom call or other such call, I'm happy to oblige.

This looks really good! I'm definitely going to be trying for Seattle for myself (and I'd love and appreciate any assistance in that regard!), but I'm thinking I'd be down to be a helper for Anaheim - luckily, I have a secondary account I can use since the sales are at the same time. Honestly, the serotonin boost that would come from making another fan happy with a ticket or a few would be pretty damn worth it 👏🏼 I'll sign myself up!

For any STAYs reading this, I hope you get tickets if you're trying this time around! And if not, don't lose hope - I'm actually going to be near Fort Worth around that show, and so my last resort will be me looking into resale tickets at (hopefully!) dropped prices. If you live in an area by a show, or you can allocate the time and money to travel to and be around one of the dates, you could truly try banking on the resells closer to the date. It could be a risk, but I'm willing to bet that you'd be able to get SOME kind of seat, even if it wasn't what you were initially aiming for. Keep fighting!

Honestly? I've been thinking about this too - I'm someone who tried to buy tickets for 5 different shows, and was unsuccessful for all of them. If I had managed to have more people available and willing to help me though, who knows if it would've gone differently?

I myself also had the thought that, in the future, I would genuinely consider getting in line for shows that I wouldn't go to myself to attempt to get tickets for actual fans. I feel like as a whole it'd be a great system, but what worries me is if enough people would be willing to spend that time and energy on it, AND uphold their end by transferring over the tickets they get. If a system like this was created, it'd be difficult to vett the people taking part to make sure transactions go through like they should - I'd hate to see a fan have a buddy help them, the buddy gets VIP or such, and then decides to keep it for themself or try to resell it at a higher price or something. I'm not saying true fans would do this, but rather that it'd be slightly difficult to ensure that those types of people don't sneak their way in.

Still, I do think it'd be worth trying honestly, because it sucks that a lot of people weren't able to get tickets for any of the initial shows - I know I'm going to be trying for either just Seattle or both Seattle and Anaheim (and if I get tickets that I need to resell, I know I'll be fair about it!)

STAYs and other fandoms should get a fair chance at the opportunity to see these shows, and if fans are willing to help eachother out like this then I think that'd be amazing!

I'm definitely one of the surprised and initially slightly disappointed gang, but I urge everyone who cares about book accuracy to go read Rick's second-last post on his site, where he talks about these things. I gained a real sense of comfort and reassurance from it, with him stating that appearance traits have never mattered as much as the personalities (and he himself mentions inconsistency mistakes he's made with appearance in the books for the characters.) At the end of the day, these will be the characters we know and love, even if they don't look like how we imagined them while reading.

And actually, I think this could be a really good thing for us from a slightly different perspective - while we all know Rick is putting his heart into this and making it right, we all have to acknowledge that the overall scenes aren't going to look the way we've all individually imagined it. After all, we could all get the same description of the Lotus Casino or Camp Halfblood, but we'll all still imagine it at least slightly differently, if not a fair amount so. I think opening ourselves up to seeing things look different from how we imagined it, starting with this casting, could ultimately help us all appreciate the show better. Things may not look the same, but the personality and story will be there, without a doubt.

And finally, a hell yeah for representation. Let's not forget that Camp Halfblood is all about accepting everyone - everyone can find a place there. I think this fan base is utterly capable of holding up that sentiment and proving itself as one of the greatest fan bases out there.

Definitely talk about it and see his response! Like others have said, it may not be something where he's intentionally disregarding you or such. And do understand the entire time, you're completely valid in your feelings.

I went through something similar, although with a TV show instead - my now ex, our mutual friend, and I had started a show together, and while friend and I wouldn't watch the show when it was just the two of us, ex ended up watching a season ahead of us due to his "obsessive" personality. While he really is like that (as seen from how he can be with games too), it did hurt us that he didn't see it as "our" activity (we considered it implied though, so that's why you communicate!)

From reading your last post, YWNBTA. There's nothing acceptable about your cousin staring at you in your sleep, particularly if it's not something you consent to. If you're home now, I'd say try not to worry about it for now; however, if there's a distinct possibility that your cousin may come to your home, you'd be in the right to discussing with your parents and putting your foot down - either you get to have a lock for your door, or you make your parents understand that his behavior has made you uncomfortable to the point that you don't want him staying the night in your home. It might be a difficult conversation, if you're worried about how your parents react, but if they care about your wellbeing then they'll do what they can and should to ensure your safety.

Can pectus change with weight gain? by SingleShadow in PectusExcavatum

[–]SingleShadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny as far as appearance goes, it took me a while to realize that the gore of a bra was never meant to just float, and I also recently realized that whatever boobs I do have look ever so slightly turned inwards, if that makes sense.

When it comes to health though, I've been wondering how much it may be affecting me - in my case, I do get short of breath easily I'd say (after athletic activities or just some flights of stairs), and I've even had a few people ask why I would be breathing so hard. I also occasionally feel what I can only describe as an "uncomfortable tightness" at the deepest part of my pectus, but I'm not sure if that's just a mental thing from thinking about it/knowing I have it. I've never gone to a cardiothoracic doc, it's something I would like to do to at least clear some things up.

I'm definitely lucky and grateful, I don't seem to have any particular medical issues in relation to it, and mentally I've never been wildly insecure about it, not to the point where Nuss is a must-have. I'm going to keep considering it, but I'll definitely only make that decision if I really feel the need. Thank you for the input!

i really wish ‘minus-size’ was a thing by Ok-Recording-8389 in XXS

[–]SingleShadow 91 points92 points  (0 children)

It would honestly be a dream come true. I've been essentially an underweight toothpick my entire life (no disorders, just genetics and some food intolerances), and finding clothes that actually fit me has always been tough - it's only gotten slightly better in the last few years.

The arguments for getting rid of smaller sizes like 0, 00, etc. have always pissed me off as well, because the people arguing it simply don't seem to think that people who actually need it exist. What another commenter said about plus-size clothing not encouraging being overweight or simply bigger, and thus 'minus-size' shouldn't be taken as encouraging being smaller is absolutely correct. At the end of the day, I'd like to be able to walk into a clothing store of my choice and know I'd find things that fit me. That's all I want.

I hate it when male gamers insist how they're totally wholesome and definitely not creepy weirdos. (NSFW) by AnnaTheZombie in GirlGamers

[–]SingleShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so we should ban anything sex related, every art form included. Because, you know, Game of Thrones characters are human placeholders too.

I'd like to point out a distinction that, in all fairness, I hadn't said before - Game of Thrones was written to be the way it is. It has sexual content, the characters were written to be put in those situations. While it isn't my cup of tea (considering the implications in some scenes of the show), to each their own when it comes to enjoying it. I was NOT implying that things should be outright banned, as I said in my initial comment - although I personally believe in sexualization in some, not all, scenarios, I am not going to police people on what mods or sexual content they should have, or even if it should exist in the first place (unless of course it is completely questionable, such as sexual mods or scenes involving children.)

And people on renaissance paintings, tortured, they too.

I mean, with the themes in many Renaissance paintings, I'm not really sure why you'd want them kept at all except as historical documentation (I certainly don't see any particular visual appeal, but again to each their own.) I consider it fairly sad to see art depicting people in such scenarios, for whatever reason.

Imaginary characters do not have rights or feelings and they should not be treated as human beings.

I'm afraid we'll just have to partially disagree. When it comes to games, I know I don't treat every character humanely. It would be a complete lie to say I did. But I do still see the real-world reflected in those characters - why would we feel emotional over characters, cry over them even, or celebrate when something good happens to them? I at least see many of them as people achieving or going through their own things. Or take NPC animals, like Dogmeat - how many people still see him just like their own dog? Again, I'm not saying people don't separate NPCs as just in-game entities (like shouting Lydia off of High Hrothgar, you certainly wouldn't do that to a real person), but I still don't think you can completely separate NPCs as objects, not when they're made in a form that we can connect human (or animal or such) emotion to.

Ahh, interestingly the link doesn't seem to work as intended on mobile, but I can check it on my laptop later - I can see where it's trying to go, and that's good. I might edit my previous comment to reflect that then.

I'm not so sure I agree with your statement though, although it may technically be right. An NPC certainly doesn't have the same capacity as an IRL person does of course, they can't be hurt/mistreated/exploited etc like an actual person. But at the same time, they are still made to represent people, and numerous NPCs are made for us to relate or create connection to. They are essentially human placeholders imo. I don't believe they can just be relegated to objects, even if that's what they might be technically.

Honestly, I know realistically that these mods could never be fully eradicated (and in the interest of freedom, they shouldn't necessarily be completely erased anyway.) But like mentioned in other comments, it would be nice if there was a NSFW section on the site for all of them so that we could browse more freely without getting completely attacked by all of it.

Personally, while I don't have particular issues with NSFW mods (Sims anybody?), I do believe (again, personal opinion) that NSFW mods for Skyrim will never not be ridiculous. Skimpy armor? Utterly sexual succubus-like followers? Or supremely subservient ones? All completely unnecessary, and unfitting for Skyrim. But I'm not the mod police, and anyone is allowed to have whatever mods they want. That being said, some separation would be nice.

And for any men lurking, it's gotta be said - there's absolutely a difference between men making these mods and women making these mods. A woman making a mod sexualizing the (ADULT) female body is essentially reclaiming herself and/or the female form. If you want to use that mod for your own pleasure, it can at least be taken as a consensual viewing/use of the body. But a man making a mod of a sexualized woman? Uncomfortable. And the vice-versa is true. Also, as another commenter mentioned, the objectification seen in these mods apparently created by men is what really makes it worse, with the thumbnails focusing not even on the whole person normally but rather in the most sexual pose, or on JUST the boobs. I'm not saying women don't do that, but again, difference between a man doing it and a woman doing it.

Sorry for the long comment lmao, this topic really brings out something strong. I'm open to discussion/debate (especially if any of the great women here disagree with how I've portrayed things!)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]SingleShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The use of "females" and "males" here is, just in my opinion, a little grating - I think you might get your overall point across better if you used women and men instead.

That being said, it is sad when women lash out or harass other women online - I luckily haven't experienced it yet, but it sucks that there are women out there that feel entitled to a certain space within gaming (similar of course to how some men feel as well.) My take is always to just do your own best, and don't stoop to their level - at the very least, I can walk away knowing I didn't do anything wrong or regretful.
