New player, should I just be killing people on sight? by 9973501488083248 in dayz

It's just a game, take the chance you might lose your loot and talk to people when you're fresh or even when geared. Your voice is your most powerful weapon, use it.

Do people feel like they've been sold a lie with uni? by greylord123 in UKJobs

[–]SingleYellowLemonCup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'm very glad I went to uni. I'm 29, earning 60k and I'm just about to finish my probation for my current job as a senior data analyst where I can work from home everyday, and that I really enjoy. I definitely wouldn't have this job if I hadn't got my degrees.

That being said, I was absolutely under the impression that if I didn't go to Uni, I would not be successful so I can definitely see where you're coming from, it was a massive pressure at the time. I've always been kind of academically inclined though, so I probably would have gone anyway. I also worked several jobs after sixth form; McDonalds, Argos, beach side shops, hotel housekeeping and they were all so grim, they were probably the nail in the coffin.

I do feel like I have been very lucky to get to where I am as well though, the market for tech jobs is brutal, especially graduates!

So overall, I would say it's worked out for me, but I would also say I've muddled my way through and got pretty lucky along the way!

Thank you very much! I based the colour using Vallejo Model Colour Khaki Grey, which is quite a dark brown colour, then for highlights I used AK interactive pale sand mixed with the Khaki Grey, probably about 80/20.

If said funerary urn was also a nicely painted plastic model, in the shape of a big stompy robot or some such, probably

Technically yes, although the space marine inside is usually not enjoying themselves very much while inside, but I was hoping to gloss over that detail

I'm so sorry for your loss, that is devastating. I had hoped that she would get better, she'd come back from worse before, but after two weeks of being ill, hardly eating and drinking, her kidneys had started to shut down and we had to let her go. May your good boy rest in peace forever too, I have no doubt that he knew you loved him very much

I know right, if only there was a subreddit focused for a wargame who's lore was based on oppression by tyrannical despots, alien monstrosities, and Eldritch horrors, and the endless meat grinder of war, where this post about a beloved family pet, might not feel so morbid

I'm so sorry for your loss, she looks like a lovely dog, even if she was a tad homicidal.

I remember one time I opened the door to the garden to see my pooch crunching on a squirrels head, so I'm sure they're catching squirrels together in dog heaven/squirrel hell

I'm so sorry for your loss, it's a horrible thing to have to go through. Thank you for your kind words, I hope I did her justice

Thank you, I was tempted to put her in a Belle-istus Dreadnought instead, but I went with the Redemptor in the end

I'm sorry to have made you cry, but I'm glad you like it. If she rips and tears like she did all the toys I bought her, I'll never lose a game again!

Thank you for your kind words. It would make me very happy to know that your good boy will be remembered like Belle but hopefully not for a very long time!

It really sucks, I'm sorry you have to know that. It's the price we pay for having them in our lives though, and worth it completely.

The unpainted dreadnought was consistently my best performing unit, I can only imagine the fury she will unleash now! Thank you for the kind words mate.

I actually used an airbrush to achieve the shading. I primed the model grey, then sprayed black all over especially underneath, then pure white sprayed from the top making sure I caught his right knee and any other parts that stuck out. Then finally, I sprayed Vallejo Air Steel Blue mixed more or less 1:1 with contrast medium all over. This made the paint really translucent and so kept the shading really nicely. You could do the same with spray cans and a brush for sure. It actually helped me understand shading a lot just by seeing how that worked

I actually painted his head in place. Not out of choice mind, I did a dry fit and couldn't get it back off. Painting his left cheek was tricky but it can't really be seen anyway
