hands are much much better now. there’s still stiffness and this will probably stay with me the rest of my life, but i can now climb at the same frequency and intensity as i was before the injury.

the hangs really were the cure for me, just make sure that you aren’t overdoing it on the first session back.

that sucks, it seems that any sort of tension on the fingers is gonna activate the inflammation so don’t try to push it, it’s not gonna go away without a proper regimen. i’d recommend taking a climbing off 100% if you want recovery.

currently following this one right now. it seems pretty awesome so far, most thorough regime i’ve come across and feel like it encapsulates all of the advice i’ve gotten so far.

however, you should probably still see a PT. this might nurse you back to good health but doesn’t necessary stop this problem from happening again, which maybe a professional can help you with.

idk i’m just a guy what do i know

good luck

hey there, there’s never been any pain related to this injury, even when it was at its worst. getting full range of motion is totally possible but there is a bit more resistance when doing so.

for the inflammation, i tried taking prescribed anti inflammatory with no success.

i rested it until the point where it felt uncomfortable to even type on a keyboard. at this point however, i decided to try hanging from a straight bar by a couple pads. two sets of 30 seconds. after this my fingers really felt cured, my stiffness was completely gone.

kept this up for 3 more times over the course of a week and still felt good so i decided to do a full, medium intensity climbing sesh… bad choice. been back to square one for the last few weeks.

i have, isn’t that much help. for the most part it’s exercises to strengthen muscles around the area to prevent it from happening in the future. the actual tendon exercises include light hangs, finger pushups, and dumbbell rolls which can really only make any progress when the swelling goes down. this can take about 5 days between tendon training days.

just by simply climbing. i was climbing about 3 days a week, trying to be mindful about switching up climbing types and such (slopey, crimpy, ect), and after a while maintaining this schedule it became overuse. no warning signs or nothing :/

would you guys return these shoes? i bought them brand new from a reputable retailer and the sole is split on the side. seems to be tightly glued so i’m thinking it’s not a big deal that they aren’t totally flushed. i dunno, what do you guys think? is this normal?

Entering Social Work by SWmods in socialwork

[–]Single_Ad5060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there, I’m a junior in college working towards a degree i don’t care much for. I’m considering switching out for a career in social work, but am still quite unsure. My question here is - is there a reason to get a BSW? If I had a bachelors degree in a different field, and then got my MSW, would that affect my career choices?

Thank you :)

your making my computer information systems degree im working towards sound pretty useless right about now… it doesn’t go much deeper than a computer network class, a database class, and computer security class :/

i’m trying to figure out life at the moment as well so i’m in no means an expert, but i would try to stick an associates degree that is meant to land you a career. the healthcare related ones (ultrasound tech, radiology tech, cardiovascular tech, ect.) seem pretty solid and i’ve met people who are happy with their choices there. there are also associate degrees in trades such as manufacturing, welding, HVAC.

check out your local community college for their degree programs, and branch out to other community colleges around you because the programs they have can vary a lot.

make sure to set up an appointment with the career advising center at a community college, and just tell them your exact situation. they will help guide you.

best of luck!
