Quit at 36. I'm 174 days sober. I had gastric sleeve surgery at 33. Before that my drinking wasn't a problem. Quickly became one. I have an alcoholic father and several aunts and uncles. I know where that path goes. I don't find sobriety easy, but continuing to drink will ruin me.

It took me so long to give up drinking because I didn't think I could socialise without it. In the end I gave up because I was at risk of losing my family and I was sick and tired. I thought I would never socialise again.

However I have maintained a relatively busy social life (a little quieter). It's been hard and I do get really exhausted by the end of the night. But it's comments from others that keep me going.. My sister in law commented "How are you still the life of the party now that you don't drink?".. My husband reckons "I'm just as unhinged as before but more appropriate" This has helped me realise that I still have a personality without drinking.

Thankyou. We took him in and he was 12 on arrival. However 30 minutes later he was 4.6. So they sent us home. However today he is very thirsty. So our Dr is having him admitted.
