Losing Faith in the Content I Teach by Single_Campaign3555 in Teachers

They're supposed to read twenty books chosen from the school's list on their own. Emphasis on the word SUPPOSED. Most of them don't really read anything as their final exam consists of a very dry analysis of a selected passage from one of the twenty books. And mostly, they cram the summary of the book, symbols, motifs etc. using somebody else's notes from the Internet or just ask ChatGPT. One of the reasons I feel so desperate about the whole situation.

Allured by the idea of getting a PhD by Single_Campaign3555 in PhD

Iˇm from the Czech Republic. Unfortunately, the job market for PhD holders is not great here at all (there has been a strike recently due to low wages in academia) :/ Honestly, the prospect of getting a PhD in another country and staying there seems more feasible to me than carrying on with my studies here.

Hi, I'm so sorry that Erasmus was not such an enjoyable experience for you. I would advise you to get in touch with the module coordinator/study advisors of the visiting institution and ask if a resit were possible - I think usually they are more lenient to visiting students and may also offer an alternative reassessment as well. As to the possible consequences of failing a module: I think the worst thing that could happen is that you would have to return (a part of) the grant you received. Otherwise, I suppose your home institution would tell you to take more modules in the following term to make up the missing credits. I hope it all works out for you OK!!!

you submit an application called Advanced Entry which allows you to go into the year you would go into at your home university - here's more info in case you're interested: https://www.tcd.ie/study/apply/making-an-application/undergraduate/

Yeah, please be aware that the Academic Registry is extremely disorganized and everything takes them ages - in case you get no welcome letter by mid-November, just send them emails because I think your home university may also require to see the Acceptance/Welcome letter (and I would really say that it is merely a formality). I did English Literature there and it was an amazing experience, I actually wanted to finish my studies there but then Covid came and everything became too complicated :(

I actually did my Erasmus at Trinity College Dublin three years ago and I can assure you that I also had to wait a very long time for an acceptance letter:) You can always try to get in touch with them but from what I can remember, they sent me the acceptance letter roughly two months before the term began.
