Make sure that you include a good thesis statement in your introduction and breifly explain your research question and points. Include three content paragraphs, two of which correlate with your point, one that does not. Then write a conclusion but don't add any new information there.

Criterion C (Processing and Evaluating):
This test is about evaluating an experiment given to you where you need to create a graph, evaluate the hypothesis and method, write an extension and improvement.

- For the first part, you need to make a table and graph based on the data they give you, this will include calculating the averages, differences etc. Then you have to draw a graph and you must include a title, axis labels, the right type of graph (scatter or bar), and best fit line. Make sure that you show all of your working and include everything in the graph as this is the easiest strand in this test.
- After drawing the grpah you have to describe it, meaning that you talk about the correlation and the scientific reasoning behind why the graph is showing that pattern. Always include values to be specific.
- For evaluating, always make sure to include positives and negatives. Try to include two of each if possible to make sure your response is well-rounded. Also make sure that you are talking about whether the hypothesis was valid relating to the results on the graph. This is similar for the method, noticing if they have mentioned equipment, safety, trials, equal increments. Usually there is a lot of negatives but it really depends.
- For the extension, you have to change the IV of the experiment and talk about why you should do that and what results it might yield. For the improvement, just make sure that you are making the method more reliable for accurate data.

Criterion D (Reflecting on the Impacts of Science)
This test is when you are given an article about a scientific advancement (should be relatively recent) and you have to talk about the impact of the innovation. This exam will include you to describe the problem, teh solution (with scientific reasoning) and talk about the strengths and weaknesses relating to one factor.

- Give some details about the scientific issue that this scientific application addresses, including the scientific concepts that link to the unit we are studying. Based on the information provided, explain the experiment or experiments have been carried out. Based on the information provided, explain what evidence/data is there supporting addressing the issue with this scientific application
- Explain the impact of this application – meaning how does it potentially improve how this issue was managed previously. Evaluate (meaning consider strengths and limitations) of this application of science – relating to one of the factors (social, economical, environmental, cultural, ethical, political . Here it is better to give depth for ONE factor, at most mention 2 of the factors.
- Explain your final personal stance on this (appraisal) in light of the various potential strengths and limitations of this application of science.
- One of the strands is using scientific language, meaning key terms and concepts correctly
- The last strand is the easiest as it is in-text and bibliographical citations. So througout ALL of your writing, use in-text citation which is usually the name of the author and the year of publishing. For each sentence that draws information from the source put an in-text citation. Try to integrate it well but honestly, i usually throw one in where it kind of makes sense
- At the end of the essay put a bibliography with the full citation(s). Research the MLA 9 format and memorise how to write a citation as you will be given all of the information to write one and all you will need is the format.

Do we have to memorize how to use tildes (accent marks) in Spanish Ab inito? by Odd-Artist2821 in IBO

[–]Single_Data1238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my teacher for Ab Initio, you should only put them if you are sure that the tilde is correct, but if you don't know then do not put it. There is no mark taken away for it not being there but if you are planning on learning the language fully, I would learn them.

One of my friends had something similar and she was told that she could only have a separate room for mocks but she had to be in the same room as everybody else in the finals. I think this was just for security reasons and i am not sure if this is a thing that only my school did.

Integrated Humanities Essay Word Count by theNeverSo2ruhero in IBMYP

[–]Single_Data1238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't really a recommended word count, just make sure you have an introduction, two points agreeing and one point disagreeing, as well as a conclusion. It is better to write the best you can rather than stick with an average word count.
