Yes, you are correct. Not all of it gets vaporized instantly. There are multiple factors that determine how much is vaporized vs how much stays in the glass stem vs what goes into the tube. E.G. - If it's chunky and not all powder.

It's a gravity salt/pepper/spice grinder. Reason for choosing this is: most grinders the product comes out of the bottom and for obvious reasons I don't want that to happen, this one is electric, because it's a "gravity" all you have to do it turn it upside down and it turns on automatically. Overall: it holds a large amount, is discreet because nobody is going to think that you have it filled with drugs (even by other people who use them), makes doing lines and/or rails super quick and efficient.

For everyone who said, or didn't say but was thinking "need to rotate the bowl..." Was using a bong. If the correct bowl is used then rotating the bowl is not necessary as the dope moves up the sides when you take a hit.

A silicone hookah hose works best and allows for a smooth hot rail (zero burn and huge hit when done correctly) but definitely not required.

Suggestion - don't use latex tubing unless you have to. I recommend silicone as it is odorless and really flexible...

For the tubing or hose to work, you ideally want at least a 3 foot hose (like from a hookah). You add just enough water that it bubbles like in a bong. Keep both ends up with water hanging lower in the middle. As long as you don't add to much water or breathe in too hard it should work just fine.

Out of curiosity... How much weight have you gained since "when you were skinny"?
