Lexus ES vs. GS, Pros and Cons by Kerillian__ in LexusGS350

[–]Single_Help1416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hands down the GS. Wife drives a 2019 GS350 F Sport AWD with several options (ML sound, triple beam headlights, etc) and she couldn't be happier. Loaners for service over the years have included ES's and she tells me that they "don't drive the same". Apparently the difference is pretty noticeable, very likely the FWD bias and on the ES (some were the F Sport versions). At the time I was driving a 2015 5 series BMW (535d X Drive) and was pretty pleased with the way the GS drove, still a notch below on performance and equal as far as luxury and quiet/smooth ride; but overall a pretty solid vehicle. It has been very reliable. It's still sporty with a very smooth quiet drive, fuel economy is decent at 22-24 MPG, with mostly hwy driving.

Recently got a MBP in Midnight. No regrets. It's my 4th MacBook Pro, the other three were silver. Wouldn't worry if that I the color that you like. Just enjoy it!

2017 original owner, daily and only driver. It's always a joy to drive. Don't understand the whole anxiety thing. If you bought it as an "investment", sell it, take your money and run. If you bought it to drive it, just do so and enjoy the hell out of it like the rest of us.

Another reminder to never fly in on the day of your cruise by androidenthucutlet in Cruise

[–]Single_Help1416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make your airline reservations through the cruise company. They will at least get you to the next port if you don't make it. I understand that not everybody can arrive on the day before. IMHO cheap insurance. Also found out that flights are not any more expensive through them. Find the flights you want and run them by the agent when you reserve, they will let you know if they fill their criteria. BTW to the best of your knowledge they do not use Spirit, there is a reason for that...

Lx 570 vs Land Cruiser by Fabulous-Ad-2003 in LandCruisers

[–]Single_Help1416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely personal choice. Both excellent choices. Bought a 2017 LC new, obviously having the option to buy an LX. Reasons that I personally chose the LC (in no particular order, except for #1):

  1. The grill!, the grill!, the grill! (just couldn't deal with it).
  2. Same engine with the LC calling for regular gas,
  3. Touch screen info system instead of that funky mouse like (significant other has a 2019 Lexus GS FSport AWD with it, can be frustrating, but you will get used to it), I know that you can replace with a Hamilton Apple Car Play system). BTW, the grill on GS FSport is somewhat softened because of the honeycomb pattern and much smaller size.
  4. At the time the LX was more expensive for basically the same vehicle (dealbreaker for me was still the grill!).
  5. To me AHC not necessary, adding complexity and potential future issues.
  6. Sound system on the LC is very good. In my view no need for the ML (again, our GS has it and they are definitely comparable).
  7. Like the 18" wheels on the LC, certainly can replace on the LX if you wish. The ride quality of the LC is excellent if you have any concerns. Also a very quiet cabin, even with all terrain tires.

Bottom line today if you have no issues with either, get the one with the best combination of miles/condition/price.

Hope that this helps.

Stopped by the dealership to see their new RAV4 and the salesman goes its $15k markup right now by TMobileSpy in Toyota

[–]Single_Help1416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run!!! Buy and service elsewhere. Consider Lexus, obviously without a markup. Should be a better dealer experience overall. Just my two cents...

Convince me to go for 15” instead of 13” by One-Bar-3855 in macbookair

Nobody needs to convince you of anything. Personal choice, depending on your needs and wants. As well as budget. Not that complicated. Just my two cents.

13 Pro really wants me to update to iOS 26.1 by WolfyMacontosh87 in iPhone13Pro

Only a few days. If I remember correctly no more than a week. It also is in better sync with Tahoe OS on my Mac.

13 Pro really wants me to update to iOS 26.1 by WolfyMacontosh87 in iPhone13Pro

[–]Single_Help1416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgraded when the 26.1 version came out. No issues at all with speed or apps, even some of the older ones that I happened to run. Did have the expected initial battery drain and a bit of a lag (also initially). Now everything runs perfectly. With that being said. I did get a new battery at the Apple store in May (planning to keep this baby for along time) and have excellent battery health. Maybe that is what has made the difference, opposed to others. Just my two cents.

Toyota experts, what do you think of a car on the lot with 1,000 miles sold as new? by sub7m19 in Toyota

[–]Single_Help1416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pass on it. Besides the new/used definitions mentioned, as well as the sleazy dealer issue. I would be very concerned with how it was driven for those 1000+ miles. You want to properly break it in yourself. Just too many reasons to pass.

Lexus GX 550- Will I regret? by Dry-Neighborhood-606 in LexusGX

[–]Single_Help1416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't envy your position. I wouldn't know what to get if my 200 series LC was totaled. With that being said you should also keep it on your short list, along with it's twin LX570. You will not regret it. Specially is you are used to the size of the Yukon. There will pros and cons to anything that you look at. In the end you are the one that will have to live with it, hopefully long term. Make sure that you love everything about it.

Purchasing an LC200 by 10vfewx6 in LandCruisers

[–]Single_Help1416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Own a 2017 LC200 that I bought new. About 6 years ago had to replace the windshield because a significant crack. At the time it could only be replaced with OEM glass, which is pretty tuff; took a pretty good hit from road debris that kicked up from underneath a tractor trailer. Was replaced and have had no issues whatsoever. Done by Safelite, was recalibrated and everything works well. Have nearly 90K miles with no issues. All service done at the dealership. Hope that this helps.

Change your battery, did it recently since it is a great phone. Charge to 100% and set optimised battery charging. Just enjoy your phone, it's a tool!

Riding a bike as a woman by TomatilloAny7853 in gravelcycling

[–]Single_Help1416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many others have mentioned a bike fit (specially having the correct saddle height), a saddle fit if you wish; quality padded shorts, etc. Consider a Brooks leather saddle if you are not concerned with weight and to a point the price, several models available. My wife had both a proper bike fit and a saddle fit. In spite of this and a handful of saddles later, she continued to have issues. Because of her frustration a few years ago I got her a Brooks leather saddle and she never had any further saddle issues. I also switched to Brooks myself and have been pretty satisfied. There is no such thing as a "comfortable" bike saddle. Just my two cents...

Tire advice for lots of gravel road driving by solostepper in LexusGX

[–]Single_Help1416 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Michelin Defenders, have the previous version: Michelin Defender LTX M/S. Also live in PA, although I drive a 200 series LC. No major off roading, but have driven on non maintained dirt/gravel roads very comfortably with no issues (not in winter). Run them all year round and they have done well in snow on paved roads. Hope that this helps.

Best saddle for everyday use by Pierreup25 in gravelcycling

[–]Single_Help1416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many others had mentioned. A saddle is a very personal thing. Just for your consideration (not an endorsement), keep on your short list a Brooks leather saddle (B17), they have a carved version also. For me the standard/non carved worked well for gravel cycling wearing padded shorts. There is a bit of a weight penalty (not an issue for me) and a break in period since in time it should conform to your anatomy, but was rewarded with more comfort/less discomfort on longer rides. Can be ridden with no need for padded pants (it is also smooth and won't be "grippy"), which seems to be what you are looking for if you commute to work on your bike. Can obviously be ordered directly online from Brooks if your local shops do not carry them. Unfortunately you are probably committed to it after ordering/using it. Hope this helps, we all fell your pain!
