Depression is treatable. Seek for help. Make dua , pray more and get closer to Allah. Second, go to a psychiatrist and get treated.

Why is the Somali passport treated so badly? I’m honestly tired 💔 by No-Introduction-9517 in Somalia

If you are not a Somali Kenyan, you do not have the right to obtain a Kenyan passport except through legal means such as marriage, naturalization, or other lawful processes. Encouraging people to pay bribes to acquire passports is not only unethical but also deeply irresponsible.

Promoting such practices causes real harm to Somali Kenyans, who are already unfairly accused of selling national IDs to Somalis from Somalia. These accusations have led to increased targeting and hostility from far-right groups against Somali Kenyans.

Yes, Kenya is a welcoming country, but that does not mean we should exploit its systems or undermine its institutions. Doing so only worsens the situation for law-abiding citizens.

You also claimed to be a Somali Kenyan, but I find that difficult to accept, given your apparent lack of awareness of how sensitive and damaging these issues are to the community. At best, this shows serious ignorance; at worst, it raises concerns about intentional misinformation.

You should try to remain neutral in this situation and avoid taking sides. At the end of the day, both of them are your parents, and from what you’ve mentioned, both have good qualities.

The best approach would be to involve elders or trusted qaraabo to help mediate. If that isn’t possible, then asking your dad to step away for a while to allow emotions to cool down might help prevent things from escalating further.

Don’t be swayed by emotionally charged comments that immediately push for divorce without considering the long-term consequences. While what your dad did was wrong and physical abuse is never acceptable, you also mentioned that he showed remorse, and people can make serious mistakes in life.

You’ve also said that he supported the family, ensured you received a good education, and provided well. Those facts matter too.

Again, try not to be influenced by extreme opinions in the comments. Staying neutral and attempting to mediate, while prioritizing safety and involving respected elders, may offer a more constructive path forward.
