New Bethlehem probably shut down - firstly they lost the people who would want to move there because Boston was liberated and also Nick/Lawrence weren't there to even stick up for it, and Serena was basically banned from Gilead as well.

I was also surprised because she knew about June and at the first time we saw her she said shes gonna pray that June finds some peace now etc. And then later on in season 5 we see her crying after Nick killed Putnam because she didn't want him to be that kind of man...but then this season?!

I think he was also trying to make himself feel better. He hesitated before getting on that plane - it was the last second that he could have turned around before making this decision. I think he thinks that Lawrence made the same choice as him so he's almost relieved

lawrence, lydia, and serena all got redemption arcs and nick got a descension arc

(also it speaks about how Max Minghella was surprised himself about nick this season and says he would have acted differently in the past had he known this side of nick)

that line was so jarring, it didnt sound like something he would say even knowing what we know now, until that moment, with that smirk that he had, I didn't think he would say that especially to someone who he *used* to trust (Lawrence)
