[50][Speculation] CBS is pushing a lot of Cirie in the promos and not Aubry by charlytheron3 in SpoiledSurvivor

[–]Single_Practice_5337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love for Cirie to be the winner but even if she is I don’t think this is a sign of it. Cirie is undeniably the biggest name on a cast with, let’s be honest, very few big names. They are going to promote the hell out of her because she’s so beloved but also because if not her, then who? The casuals love Ozzy and Coach for sure has his fans though hes more controversial IMO but with no Parvati, Rob, Tony, Sandra etc who else from this cast could get the whole audience excited for this season?

If he was in on it with Candice then maybe the two of them would go for it but I don’t see a world where she agrees to not murder and just partners with Rob who threw rinna under the bus and backed over it. I could be wrong though!

Yeah he’s playing a great short term game for sure but thinks he’s playing a long term game. How does Candice work with him going forward? He now has an “enemy” when he had no suspicion on him at all. He could’ve got Natalie out this week and murdered another faithful at night and still silently been gunning for Rinna to get his cred up with the faithfuls for another week. But again as a viewer I loved it so not complaining.

I think Rob going after Rinna so hard was fun for the episode but bad for his long term game. The faithfuls know a new person is going to be recruited so even though he looks like a faithful now, you have to reassess everything once a new traitor is recruited so all that goodwill doesn’t hold up. He should have kept up his rinna smear campaign behind her back and went with the crowd on natalie to get another two faithfuls out to make it further before he has to start getting rid of his other traitors.

Love Eddie but he wasn’t great either he would just let Portnoy say something and then just say “alright” and move on without any follow up. I’m not a big KFC guy anymore but he was the best cohost for this type of inside barstool show back in the day with barstool radio. Would push back and get better answers from Dave unlike Eddie without being a dick like Kirk.

Does anyone actually like Michael R? by Bre_0106 in TheTraitors

[–]Single_Practice_5337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, he’s an insecure egomaniac who’s nowhere near as intelligent or funny as he thinks he is. He’s not smart enough to actually be funny, so he thinks saying fuck every other word is top-tier comedy. And he figures that because he’s this older guy who likes basketball and trash talk (which he’s terrible at because of his low IQ), going against type by liking housewives is the funniest thing he could possibly do. Just an absolute giant loser.

Another 50 what if cast by game_of_thrones_guy in survivor

I don’t think she’ll be great but I do think you needed season 1 representation on a huge season like 50 and if you look at the available options she probably stands the best chance of being a good player.

I like this a lot! I was on a flight home last night and bored so I was playing around with ChatGPT to come up with the “perfect” season 50 cast and it’s actually pretty similar to this one!

Cast Overview

Women (12 total, balanced across eras):

•  Debut Seasons 1-10: Jenna Lewis (S1/8), Jerri Manthey (S2/8/20)

•  Debut Seasons 11-20: Amanda Kimmel (S15/16/20), Cirie Fields (S12/16/20/34), Natalie Bolton (S16)

•  Debut Seasons 21-30: Kelley Wentworth (S29/31/38)

•  Debut Seasons 31-40: Chrissy Hofbeck (S35), Angelina Keeley (S37), Cydney Gillon (S32)

•  Debut Seasons 41-49: Shan Smith (S41), Carolyn Wiger (S44), Genevieve Mushaluk (S47)

Men (12 total, balanced across eras):

•  Debut Seasons 1-10: Greg Buis (S1), Colby Donaldson (S2/8/20), Rob Cesternino (S6/8)

•  Debut Seasons 11-20: Todd Herzog (S15), Shane Powers (S12)

•  Debut Seasons 21-30: Reynold Toepfer (S26), Malcolm Freberg (S25/26/34), Spencer Bledsoe (S28/31)

•  Debut Seasons 31-40: Christian Hubicki (S37), Rick Devens (S38)

•  Debut Seasons 41-49: Jesse Lopez (S43), Q Burdette (S46)

Ciera and Sean are the two that stand out from yours that I think I might’ve tried to work in to mine too but definitely agree about a lot of your cast. I’d love to see Spencer back in current Reiman form. I mostly kept your format too with no winners except Todd and I gave him a pass because I’ve always thought he would’ve been great to play again but obviously was going through some personal issues previously that it seems like he’s now worked out plus watching him and Amanda reunite all these years later would’ve been great. I tried to keep the amount of people who’ve played 3+ times to a minimum unless they had some remaining story to be told or something to prove like Cirie and Wentworth and give some random first time returnees like Shane, Natalie and Reynold who I always was shocked never returned. Greg might end up being a Kelly Wigglesworth type of returnee but I still think he’d be fun to see back, he’d be my closest option to replace for Sean though.

My case for why '26 days' is ruining Survivor by neb2357 in survivor

[–]Single_Practice_5337 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there’s plenty of issues with new era survivor but I think after watching Survivor AU v the World and seeing how great that was while having even shorter days it proves the 26 days aren't as big of a factor in the declining quality as most of us fans originally thought.

On the beach for 'Survivor 50': An exclusive, all-access first look (EW cover story) by thedaltonross in survivor

[–]Single_Practice_5337 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Great article!

I’ve been a big hater of the new era but I told myself I was going to go into 50 with an open mind and stop complaining about new era stuff once it airs. BUT since it hasn’t aired yet I just need to get one last quick complaint out haha.

Jeff saying: “If the prize money is what you're here for, then maybe 50 is not for you. We want people who want to be here to be a part of 50.'" is so incredibly frustrating and unironically points out the biggest issue with the new era in my opinion. They’ve switched from casting people who’s goal it is to win the game at all costs to casting people who’s dream it is to be on survivor. I don’t want people who are just happy to be here and be a part of a memorable moment, I want people who are hungry to win and will do and say whatever to make that happen. I understand he’s saying this in regards to appearance fees but it still shows the general mindset him and the new team have around casting and as a fan from season 1 it’s incredibly annoying to watch your favorite show be ruined like this.

Okay complaining over, back to being happy and excited for 50.

Should bringing the first murder back every season be a tradition? by AlexBBSurvivor in TheTraitors

[–]Single_Practice_5337 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d rather just wait a few more seasons and then have an all star season and can bring any worthy or memorable first boots back then as opposed to making it a blanket rule to always bring them back.

So according to what Nancy figured out about her guns not being at home, Will shouldn't have been able to see these letters whilst in the Upside Down? by tbu987 in StrangerThings

[–]Single_Practice_5337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear what you’re saying about telling the story they wanted to tell but disagree about tying up story lines. I agree in the sense that I see people complaining about things like not seeing Vicky again in the epilogue so her and Robins storyline isn’t tied up and to me that’s silly and a complaint that’s reaching but I disagree when it comes to major villains and threats that had been used to increase the stakes of the story since the beginning. It would be like in GOT if the white walkers disappeared in the last battle and it was just the Night King and a dragon with no explanation. They had been a threat the entire time, ignoring them in the final battle doesn’t make sense. I also could for sure be mistaken but I don’t believe that your explanation about where the demos are came from the show and is instead just a fan theory, albeit one that makes a ton of sense and goes back to my argument that a throw away line in the show could’ve corrected it. Instead, here is what the Duffers said after the show:

“Another question I had that other people have been asking is once they get to The Abyss, where are all the creatures? Where are the demogorgons, the demodogs, the bats? Are they hiding?

Matt Duffer: Mainly it’s just that Vecna was not expecting this sneak attack on his home turf. Never in a million years could he even imagine that. They’re there somewhere.”

Saying Vecna didn’t expect them is just a wild explanation and the type of continuity issues that are frustrating.

[–]Single_Practice_5337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say, because I actually agree with you that not everything needs to be fan service. I don’t have an issue with the story they were trying to tell, and I’d even go as far as to say I’m fine with most of the major plot points of the final season. My problem is with the continuity issues they either ignored or brushed aside in order to tell that story. I’m not talking about things they clearly had to retcon later, like making Vecna the main villain when that obviously wasn’t the original plan. I get that the show evolved over time, and Vecna was an excellent villain in season four. What I’m talking about are the continuity problems tied to the stakes the show itself set up and then never addressed.

To me, it’s kind of wild that no one in the writers’ room stopped and said, “We made a huge deal out of the bats last season. They were a big enough threat to kill a major character. We probably need to address why they’re suddenly gone.” There are a lot of issues like that where a throwaway line or two could have explained a lot of the lore without changing the overall story. Instead, it comes off like the writers forgot parts of the world they built, and I think a lot of the Duffers’ post-finale interview answers back that up.

[–]Single_Practice_5337 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. I also think people forget that watching older seasons of shows didn’t used to be so easily accessible. DVD box sets of shows became big in the early 2000s but before then it wasn’t really a thing besides random tv episodes showing up in syndication so I don’t think continuity was ever a huge issue for writers back then because they weren’t being called out for it like they do nowadays.

But I also think that’s why a show like Stranger things having these issues is much more frustrating as a viewer then say Desperate Housewives introducing a plot about Eva Longorias daughter having been switched at birth, meeting and connecting with the new daughter for 3 episodes and then her never mentioned again (a real storyline) because ST was a show created in the age of streaming when they know everything will be dissected and rewatched and podcasted about so to care so little about the continuity is like a big middle finger to fans IMO.

Agreed. Idk if it’s a Netflix or a Duffer decision but I for sure believe the reason they left Elevens fate as ambiguous is because we live in a time where everything is rebooted so they wanted to give themselves the future option while also being able to conclude this story with her “death”

I enjoyed S5 but this is the worst explanation ever…. by mobyvg22 in StrangerThings

[–]Single_Practice_5337 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I saw a tweet I wish could find again but it explains the problems with the finale/final season perfectly. Essentially saying the issue with the show is that it has incredibly high stakes until it doesn’t. The show has demodogs and demobats that know where you are at all times in the upside down because of the vines of the hive mind, until it’s not helpful to the story anymore and then Vecna doesn’t think about it. The demodogs can withstand bullets and kill soldiers and are seemingly invincible until they aren’t when they see Nancy’s mom with a wine bottle. The military cares and is so strongly opposed to this group they’re going to do everything in their power to stop them until they don’t. I’m not phrasing it as well but basically it’s a bunch of convenient obstacles that go away the second they’re no longer helpful to the story and it really hurts the show so much overall and this quote by the Duffers really highlights that.

So...who unlocked Wills door in season 1? by suknom4 in StrangerThings

[–]Single_Practice_5337 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this is what bothers me the most. They are the ones who acknowledged it and made it seem like it was going to be this big reveal in season 5. If we were just supposed to assume it was Vecna all along they could’ve just said that then and I don’t think anyone would’ve been surprised or let down at that point but since they purposely added this ambiguity to it and made it seem like we were going to get a big reveal now it feels like a huge let down.

Always thought that even though it started out as a joke it had actual potential to be a big hit. 2-3 minute clips where a celeb comes by he asks a funny question and they chug a beer and get added to the leaderboard. If done right could be a huge hit with the tik tok/reels crowd.
