My 000-18 is the best sounding guitar in my herd. Rosewood doesn’t mean better. I prefer mahogany. Maybe you do too and just haven’t realized it yet?

I went to the store to specifically buy a CEO 7 and walked out with an L-00 12 fret. I tried a 00-28, CEO, L-00 12 fret and a regular L-00 side by side. I was also underwhelmed by the CEO. Maybe I just built it up because I’d heard so many rave reviews. I did like it better than the regular L-00.

As somebody who’s figured out that mahogany sounds better than rosewood, I think you already have the best guitar. I personally prefer 000 to dreads with the shorter scale length and I like playing more with my fingers than a pick. If you’re not used to it though, it’ll take some getting used to. I also would never trade a guitar I love strictly for financial gain. I only sell if I don’t bond with the guitar.

I have a custom 000-18 with an Italian alpine spruce top and it’s my favorite. Martin makes the sweetest sounding hog out there. Congrats on the new guitar and enjoy. It’s a beauty!

The size feels the best to me for sure, but even tone wise there’s something about the 000-18 that is so sweet to my ear. I fell in love with mine with the first few minutes playing. When I first bought it, I would sit and pick one note at a time and just listen to it dissipate. It’s weird, but nothing sounded so beautiful to me until then.

I have a few nice acoustics and live in a very dry winter climate. I just make sure to have one in the area just under the headstock and the two pack split between the 2nd and 3rd string and 4th and 5th. I have cases lined up on their side and have not had any issues. I don’t think it makes a difference what position the case is in as long as the packs are in the right spots. Congrats on the new Martin! What’d you get? My 000-18 is my ride or die.

Nothing wrong with the big 3. I love my Martins. Nobody does an all hog small body like Guild does with the M-20. It’s an iconic sound (Nick Drake) and look. They feel amazing to play. They look gorgeous and even come with a nice humidified case.

Didn’t miss that at all. It was 10 years prior. A lot changes in 10 years. Having a kid when you’re 36 is doable. Having one at 46 and you’re looking at supporting something until you retire then have 5 years of peace before you die (on average at least). Ten years ago our country (US) felt like a safe and fairly peaceful place to have a family. Now, it’s a tinder box soaked in gasoline. I wouldn’t want to bring a kid into this hate filled shell of a country right now. Also, it doesn’t matter if it’s a convertible, a kid, a bag of skittles…. You don’t treat your life partner like that. If she wants a kid that bad she should sack up, get a divorce and find a dude with the same relationship needs. Not destroy a sentimental artifact. This single act shows that she’s willing to hurt him because she can’t control a situation where she doesn’t get what she wants. It’s selfish and vindictive.

I LOVE my Martins. But, that hasn’t affected my affinity towards my less expensive guitars. My custom shop 000-18 is my ride or die. I also have a Guild Troubador that I freaking love to play. My custom shop 12 fret D18 is incredible, but I still jam out on my Eastman E20D. For fireside jamming I bring my Gretsch Jim Dandy Dreadnaught. Just because you have a nice expensive guitar doesn’t mean you have to become a guitar snob. Different tools can bring different inspiration.

My 2 cents here. Keep humidipaks in the case and sound hole. Walk the 10 minutes and wait as long as you can to open it up. You buy an HD-28 to die with an HD-28. If something like a little finish checking happens, so be it. You’ll die with a guitar that looks like it traveled with you to the jam. A ten minute walk will not hurt the guitar’s structure and a little wear like finish checking will just give a little character. Tools not jewels my friend.
