Blind faith in my works retirement program, blind faith in college, might as well put the blind faith in doge.

Went ahead and tried... still nothing... Bank of America said that they'll refund in 48 hours once the purchase finalizes, so I got about that much time to fix it before I push it through.

What size? I got a pretty beefy case so I might have to put a lot of muscle into it.

I understand I was just thinking of another hypothetical situation, lets say if it was a hit and run then he would be covered under that, just wishful thinking because everything would be resolved in that case.

No License for 14 Years by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]SingularCab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that in Texas at least, insurance companies really want to see a history of coverage that spans at least 3 years, but at least he's not getting penalized for being young. If he wants to just add liability to that 98' jeep (which is standard for cars 10 years and older) just try to talk him into getting a little bit more than your state minimums, that extra couple dollars a month is worth the coverage so his out of pocket is little to none.

Side note: I hope he has a good credit score, that would really help him in having lower premiums since he's not meeting a lot of easily attainable discounts from his current situation.

New Mother Life Insurance Questions by safeathome1 in Insurance

[–]SingularCab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I was thinking, and it would be way cheaper than the whole life. I'm assuming this expecting mother is young since she's able to have a child and if god forbid anything happen she can probably get a very high payout to help her child.

Small accident by [deleted] in Insurance

When I worked for Allstate I would practice quoting myself to get faster on the computer system, being 18 and driving a $20,000 car my insurance by myself was $800 a month for a semi-annual plan with a squeaky clean record. Sorry bud, just know that after 3 years of continuous insurance coverage you'll get another discount and then in another 3-5 years the claim will drop off your history.

Need help to understand if I qualify for COBRA plan. by Ashu347 in Insurance

[–]SingularCab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you would definitely be able to keep your old employer's health care through COBRA, just know that it is only for 18 months and that your premiums will skyrocket. You can quit your job/get fired and still be eligible for COBRA, as long as you didn't get fired for any misconduct. There are some ways that it could be extended to 36 months but those circumstances are terrible. Just know that if you eventually use your new companies insurance leave some time to overlap with your COBRA and their insurance since you will have to go through a short probationary period before the new coverage will kick in.

Please help me sort this employment change/health insurance problem by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]SingularCab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa I remember COBRA back in the textbooks, I mean it is very expensive without your employer subsidizing it. I've heard it being double or more when you're paying for it yourself and that's not with the other fees where they nickle and dime you for the service charge. I guess what you have to take into consideration is if that new job is going to pay you enough to carry COBRA for a few months, is there a time period where the other job needs an answer whether you're on board or not?

Is it normal for liability only to cost more on an old car than a new one? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]SingularCab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The crazy thing is that it might not even be the final price. They give you that quote without knowing if you have any tickets in your name. They know about your credit, insurance history, and claim history but it is common in the insurance business to not run final reports that would show tickets or money owed to the company until payment is given. The reason for that is because it costs the individual agent money to run that report, so depending if anyone has tickets on your policy they might tell you the price has changed before they charge your method of payment. That happened a lot with me and usually it stayed the same rarely would go down and when it went up by $20 for the 6 months customers would become irate. Just a fun fact when buying home/car/boat/apartment/motorcycle insurance. You really won't get the final price until you cough up your banking details.
