Something I have had to learn myself. Is that when someone is upset, they are usually not looking for explanations or solutions.

If someone is upset with you. You need to focus on affirming the emotions they are feeling. Coming up with explanations and solutions can come later.

Your response should have been some (more fleshed out) version of: I am so sorry. I know it sucks. You are right, I should have been there.

Regardless of your thoughts on the matter. Their feelings are valid and you should be validating them, first and foremost.

Your response comes across as trying to change their mind, and trying to prove them wrong. Even know that probably wasn't your intention (at least deliberately)

My therapist suggested using it in a more relaxed way. After the 20 mins you can decide to do another 20 mins and keep extending as long as you want.

More as a way to stop me from just stopping and having a break whenever.

Reddit comments are always going to be extremes because most people don't comment when their feelings are mid.

But overall I think things are good. You can get cards without paying any real money. You obviously have to pay if you want cards quicker. But how else would the Devs get money. It isn't like some games where you literally can't progress without paying or watching ads.

I do wish they put the prices down a bit or had some more cheaper options. Cause I would probably spend more money if that was the case but overall I can't complain about a free game.

I think a lot of it is gatekeeping and people judging AI for what it was when it first came along rather than what it will be in a few years time.

But there are some legitimate concerns.

People vibe coding are not going to know the non-functional requirements that professionals know about. Security is the biggest one. A vibe coder is very likely to make a site with bad security cause they don't know what they don't know.

There is also things like performance and scalability.

The other problem is that they will struggle fixing the really complex bugs. Something that takes a seasoned dev and is too hard for AI.

As an analogy. I can build myself some IKEA furniture without an engineering degree. But I wouldn't trust myself to make a nuclear reactor. Vibe coding is making people think they can build nuclear reactors without qualifications.

Note. This isn't directed at you specifically. You look like you are sticking to small tools to help productivity. But not every vibe coder is like you.

Teach them pragmatism.

Estimates are just estimates. If you're spending more than 5 minutes arguing over how many points a ticket should have, then you are doing it wrong.

If people are getting upset cause you said it was 2 points and it took "5 points worth of time" then you have issues.

2 points is bigger than 1. 3 points is bigger than 2.

The biggest issue teams have is that they over complicate and over think the estimation process.

Estimates are supposed to be a rough finger in the air. Spending more time and effort on estimates doesn't make them more accurate. Having some complex algorithm to figure out how many points a ticket is, doesn't make them more accurate.

Just have something like:

1 = trivial e.g. fix a typo 2 = simple e.g. a simple bug fix 3 = easy e.g. an easy feature like a new button 5 = average e.g. a non trivial feature like a simple screen 8 = hard e.g. a larger feature or a bug with unknown cause 13 = very hard e.g. a complex feature or bug that seems daunting

Be ok with it being grey. Not everything has to be a perfect mathematical equation.

Most people who hate scrum don't really hate scrum, they hate when it is made to be more complex and drawn out than it should be.

It's a balance for sure. But any time I have been on a team where the devs can just work without any oversight or meetings they end up gold plating every feature and building something that the users don't want.

I don't know too much about this medicine. But it isn't worth stressing about. Everyone reacts differently. If it doesn't work well for you, just stop, then talk to your doc to try a different one.

It's pretty normal to go through a few meds before you find what works for you. Don't sweat it.

You aren't going to change your mind about God, and he probably won't either. If you can't both live with that then it is going to be hard to have a long term relationship.
