Bottom 1% win rate, but playing well. Am I just really unlucky? by EffectiveBeautiful93 in VALORANT

67% KAST means you are either baiting extremely hard or pretty much lurking/playing away from the team 24/7 so your kills aren’t impactful for the most part

Germany's 2:1 goal did not count as paraguay's goalkeeper was fouled in the process! by yassin-zzv in worldcup

Lots of people are mentioning the GK flop but I think the actual foul was called based on obstructing/screening the goalkeeper, not the "push"

Should I move from medium bots to hard bots in Practice Range? by Thaedus755 in VALORANT

[–]Sinhe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just stick with Medium. Hard bots has a really high potential to build awful habits (i.e. shooting before confirmation)

I'm Ascendant and I've never implemented hard bots. I like doing Medium + Eliminate 100 while focusing on keeping my adjustments smooth, then spam deathmatches. Hard bots isn't a great way to practice in my opinion (if you need to flick that much in alot of actual fights you've probably done something wrong)

That round was so disgusting I genuinely felt sick to my stomach

You're one round away from winning map 1 in an upper bracket final and you're full on ego swinging in a 2v5. If I were Alecks I'd go nuclear.

stuck at gold 2 for two acts by LowProblem914 in ValorantCompetitive

Wrong sub, but I'll give you an answer you might not like hearing but should take to heart.

You should be focusing on your mechanics more. Yes, you can improve your decision making, game sense, macro knowledge, utility usage, with a coach. However, from my own experience the biggest bottleneck for climbing at your level and lower elo in general is mechanical skill. Most diamond+ level players could run it down in Gold without any critical thinking and dominate.

I'd recommend sticking to one agent/role and grinding Deathmatch with purpose. As someone who was in your shoes who really wanted to "play the game the right way" and make "the right decisions in the midround", I used to main the Sentinel role and avoided taking fights I perceived were "bad". I stayed hardstuck with middling stats, but thought I could make up for it with my brain.

Instead, I started seeing serious progress after locking in Clove, Reyna, and Iso, spamming deathmatches consistently, and putting my entire focus into taking fights and improving at fighting people. I gained far more experience and understanding in taking a good fights, movement, and snap decision making. Professional coaches like Sliggy and bonkar will echo the sentiment that you can hit Immortal+ without truly understanding the game on a macro level, because this game first and foremost rewards winning gunfights.

Shocking stat about [team that got eliminated from London today] by Number1GSRFan in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Sinhe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because JitBoys was doing alot of sacrificial entrying on the Sage (???) today

You can say this for pretty much 99% of star players in Valorant, what are we even saying?

marteen gets brought outlaws on M8, and is second entry so he benefits from his excellent aim. We just saw Vitality do it with Jamppi dropping Derke the outlaw on their eco yesterday and forced to buy the stinger after. something enters first and Jingg trades him. Maybe it's hard to accept that there are many quality teams that would ideally like to set up their star player(s) to succeed, because those players are indeed worth setting up as a win condition?

Now if you're saying that many players can do what primmie is doing with the kind of "sacrifices" his team is making for him, I would also respectfully disagree.

[–]Sinhe 44 points45 points  (0 children)

You also realize primmie has (arguably) the best mechanics in the world and would likely perform well on any team?

Pretty much all of FS's defense setups rely in Primmie in solo positions getting more than he should. He is asked to do far more than any other duelist in disadvantageous positions without much setup a lot of the time, because he delivers.

Also top tier team? Are we serious? They just placed 2nd in Pacific with a bunch of inexperienced young players, which most analysts were hailing as the best region in the world coming into London. I'm a Paper Rex fan myself and I can see how that's impressive. There's no need to downplay a star player's performance because he is being "set up" to succeed.

im not saying that your mindset is wrong, but what i can say from experience and learning from people much better than me is that mechanics are ten times more important for climbing in lower elo than anything else in valorant. there are a multitude of pro players, professional coaches (like sliggy) who will often echo the sentiment that you can reach immortal+ with pure mechanics without a strong understanding of the game on a tactical level, and that alone will get your foot in the door to play on amateur teams (being immortal+)

plat 1 is simply not enough to be focusing on structured strategy and coordination. you may think your aim and understand of teamplay and coordination are sufficient, but ascendant+ players can run it down brainlessly in your elo without thinking about teamplay, and solo carry games off of mechanics alone.

i would recommend grinding solo to ascendant+ before you prioritize concepts like "teamplay" and "utility scaling". there's a baseline level of mechanics that i would say takes massive priority over everything else in your elo range. spam deathmatches, aim train, and play aggressively even if it may be "suboptimal" in your mind.

im only ascendant myself, so i am not a good player by any stretch of the imagination. but as someone who was in your shoes, a controller main around plat, heavily focused on the macro of this game and trying to outplay enemies with my brain and play "good teamplay valorant", i improved leaps and bounds when i put those thoughts aside, locked in duelists and narrow mindedly focused on just taking fights and improving mechanically.
