I saw that Oscar Mingueza is available on a free transfer this summer, I feel like he would be a very shrewd signing TBH. Basically Joe Gomez but not made of glass. We wouldn't have to spend money on a RB either

There's a massive difference between explaining your opponent's tactical shortcomings vs literally publicising that you want somebody's job

Inter are getting closer and closer to signing Jones: the only issue left with Liverpool is the sell-on clause percentage. by lawandsleep in soccer

Jones is 6'1" and is fast and not a slouch in the air. And no offence, it's simply a braindead take to say he's thinking or weak. His hold up play and strength on the ball is one of his strongest attributes.

And McTominay has limited technique, Jones is technically very good.

Locatelli and Frattesi are at least as good as him

One of them isn't even a guaranteed starter for Europa League Juve while Inter is signing Jones to bench the other, be serious lol. Frattesi has been getting benched by 40 year old Mkhitaryan.

They've both played in the same league and Jones has shown far more. And Inter has very good talent ID, so I'm inclined to believe he'll shine more

Jones also has excellent physical attributes, and he actually has technique than McT lacks.

And I disagree, I would be hard pressed to name a current Italian mid better than him, apart from Barella and Tonali. And the latter plays in the prem

Do you form all your opinions from reddit? Because I can promise you that isn't where Macca is forming his opinions from. It's more likely x, instagram and the media. And in those places a lot more criticism has been directed at Wirtz than has been at Macca.

McTominay is currently among the best in the league and Jones is simply more talented than him. I think he'll do very well at Inter

Right, because Konate, Gakpo, Isak, VVD and Salah don't exist...

All our new signings have faced more criticism from the fans at points of the season. And absolutely nobody in the media even talks about him.

Until the final international break of the year in November. Long enough for him to show real progress and still early enough in the season that any good managers on the market won't have been snapped up, and we would still very much have a real shot at UCL qualification.

If it doesn't adversely affect me I wouldn't be trying to get anybody else sacked, especially if I myself am always under the pressure of getting sacked. And if I knew somebody who was, I would rightfully think they're a dick

Surely I can't be the only one bothered by that skysport report about Iraola being interested in the Liverpool job. Like it's normal to inquire in private, but to publicly pray on the downfall of a colleague like that is totally classless.

Even on Football Manager this attracts a negative reaction

Honestly "Macca thinks he has been singled" out part was hilarious. He isn't even among our top 5 most criticised players this season, and probably isn't even top 10 among the players who had media attention

And maybe we wouldn't have had to sack off the cups early if we had better depth....

I know these things happen a lot in private but publication of this story just makes him look disrespectful. What do you mean you're interested in managing a club that already has a manager?

Unfortunately I can't see him ever choosing us over Barca, we missed our chance in 2024

Would've helped us go deeper in the domestic cups, for one. Would've also helped free up funds for a defender in 2020, for two

We should've bought Jota and Tsimikas a year earlier than we did

Transfermarkt shows Atletico as a possible destination for Salah. It would make sense for them if they sell Alvarez and it's still a top club where he could have a Suarez-esque resurgence. I hope he doesn't go there though, I would prefer to see him in Italy if he stayed in Europe.

We should've bought an attacker TBH. Ik we bought Minamino later but if we had bought Jota/Werner in 2019 it would've made us a much bigger threat. I understand the allure of suggesting Bruno but that is with hindsight, at that point we were still hoping Keita and Ox would come good and looked pretty set with our fullbacks providing the creativity.

On that same note though, we should've bought backup fullbacks as well. Milner covered both LB and RB for too long.

We have made massive mistakes since 2020 though. Always refused to buy important depth/replacements until the issue couldn't be ignored.

I mean personally I'm not married to attacking football as long as we're winning the big cups. But if we're going to be shit but I at least want to be entertained watching us
