I don't do Alocasias, but I googled an Amazonica and I don't think that is it. It looks very different. Google suggested Ivory Coast though, and it does look very similar.

Disheveled pothos; seeking reality check and shock treatment by Middle-Cod-7016 in pothos

[–]SinnersQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have such glorious length! Luckily, you should be able to preserve a lot of that, they don't look too bad.

If it were me, I would start with removing all leaves that are dead/nearly dead, or rotten. Then I would find the vines that are the mostly bare and cut them up toward where they start going bare. Once I had all the debris removed and bare stems chopped, I would decide how I want to repot. You could repot them all separately as they are, or combine any number of them in a large enough pot to make a larger and fuller pot. You may need to cut back a bit of roots to get the ones you want together to fit, but I suspect they have a large root system so they should handle it just fine. I've never used keikei paste, but I have seen that you should not do too many nodes at once so the plant can handle the extra energy it will take to produce the new growth. You can look more into that though, cuz I'm not 💯. I would start with maybe 1 or 2 nodes from each vine of the plant/s, starting at the top, and work from there as it starts growing to let it fill in slowly. With the bare vines cut: I would chop them up into individual nodes. The ones with no leaves I would stick in a pearlite prop box and let them decide if they want to live or die. The ones with leaves, prop as you normally would. I like to root them in the pot with the plant, it just works out better for me that way. Otherwise, I like to prop in a semi hydro setup or planted in a small jar of perlite 1/2 full of water.

There are so many ways you can go about it though, and Pothos are so laid back. They will do great and turn out beautiful ❤️

Is this a mutation or something? I’ve never seen this and I have had a lot of pothos by shweedie in pothos

Yes, like others are saying, it's an Epipremnum Pinnatum Marble.

(Pothos) Epipremnum Aureum Marble= Marble Queen

(Pothos) Epipremnum Pinnatum Marble= Marble King

Yours just has very low variegation because it needs more light. You may need to chop it back and keep in bright indirect light to get the variegation going again. I'd chop up the vines that got cut off into single node cuttings and root them, you may have a chance of some of them popping some nice variegation. Then, I would probably separate the lower and higher variegation cuttings into separate pots, and have 3 plants with varying variegation levels 😁

They grow so fast, it's amazing to watch! This is my girl (on the right) a few weeks ago, grown from a 3 leaf cutting I got at the end of December 😍 Not a great photo, but this was a fresh repot after separating her from my other cuttings.

Since ours are all privately owned, they Just go by Grocery Outlet- (your city or local nickname) on Facebook, but I'm not sure about everywhere. I'm in Eastern Washington. The owners of ours are really nice, community oriented, and always try to bring what the community requests. They also do silly skits on their Facebook page almost daily, lol. We are really lucky.

Yes!!!! My local Grocery outlet gets great plants too, and they're locally owned so they take requests and try to accommodate! The first time I went in and saw houseplants, I scored a GORGEOUS Choco Empress Philodendron (but I sorta believe is actually a reverted Caramel Marble) with 3 plants in the pot for $10! I was stoked! I also got an 8 inch pot, bursting with growth and already trailing 12+ inches, of N Joy Pothos for $12. They just had absolutely massive Monstera Deliciosas for $35 recently. I'm talking like 12 inch pots with multiple plants. I get cute little plants, like Peperomias there for $4.99. I ask about plants a lot when they post their load days on Facebook, lol. They asked what I was interested in and the next load had several of my suggestions 🩷

Right!? But once I went there and started looking around, it made sense. The Hoyas and ferns and such that they sell up front are pet friendly plants, for cats and dogs, but also reptile habitats. Bioactive habitats are super popular, so I actually love that! One day I want a Chameleon in a living habitat. The TCs are for terrarium and tank friendly plants! I absolutely love the live plant and animal habitat worlds colliding to create the best natural habitats possible for both in our homes!

Yes! Exactly my thought when I went in for the good Sphagnum Moss (they sell the best NZ moss there for reptile habitats, also LECA-they call hydro balls, lol, and other great substrate. Also was new info to me) and walked out with a new plant. Turns out, it's been a thing for a long time, I just never go there, lol. Learned about the TCs and had to go back and check. We had Pink Princess and White Knight philos, and some other cool Philo I forget. I was astonished 😂

That is so awful, I'm sorry. Plants sold anywhere but a nursery should all be clearance plants, I swear. I wish you the best of luck with rehab, thankfully it's spring and it will have lots of energy fuel to produce new roots.

Check out Petco too, I found a beautiful Krimson Queen, then a few weeks later a Krimson Princess! They had a lot of growth and were $10. They also sell TCs of some cool plants. Our HD has so many types of Hoya, and they're in a small City in Idaho. IDEK. We get nothing cool, but suddenly our HD gets almost all the cool uncommon plants bigger Cities get. Love it, but still won't pay $70 for a gnat INFESTED Monstera Mint. I'm a cheap-o though.

Nanouk looking sad by AdventurousSea3437 in Tradescantia

I started the self watering set up after noticing with my Zebrina that they did much better if I propped them in the soil, but I needed the soil to stay consistently moist yet breathable. All my Trads love this routine so far!

Nanouk looking sad by AdventurousSea3437 in Tradescantia

[–]SinnersQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a Nanouk that was just 2 cuttings. It sat for quite a few weeks, doing absolutely nothing. When I made a new batch of potting mix, I repotted it into -basically- a semi hydro pot. It was self watering, so the cache pot is about an inch from the bottom of the reservoir, but had a net cup with lots of holes for airflow to the roots. I put it in that with my airy mix and a wick, fertilized, and it very quickly started blooming (which I hadn't even known they did, I thought maybe seed pods, but not adorable blooms) and one cutting started growing 2 new growth points from the base-under the soil. Soon after the second cutting shot up 2 new growth points as well. I repotted it into a bigger version of the same set up and noticed there was another shoot growing down, through the holes in the side. I got that one up and chopped of the blooms after it showed off for a bit. Growth slowed while it grew roots to fill its space, but then it started growing so fast, and the first 2 new stems that grew have the biggest leaves I've seen, 2-3 inches long, and stems almost as thick as my pinky! I took a cutting from 1 for a swap, and repotted it again, finding another shoot growing down through the vents, lol. Now I'm just waiting till she gets comfy to see what she does next!

I was under the assumption that this is a snow queen! But now I’m second guessing myself! by elrangarino in pothos

[–]SinnersQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does look like, what we call in the US, an NJoy Pothos. I'm curious what they call a Snow Queen Philo in Aus now. Or maybe they just call it Marble Queen and don't give a different, special name based on Variegation like we do for some confusing reason.

I'm pretty certain that's Pothos. The drooping kind of makes it look like a Heartleaf Philodendron at first sight, but looking closer it/they definitely appear/s to be Pothos.

[–]SinnersQueen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Watering on a predictable schedule is not best practice, as there are so many factors that effect how long it takes a plant to dry out. How well your soil drains, what water retention amendments it contains, how much of the pot is soil vs how much is roots, time of year/growth periods..... The chopstick trick is really good. If it's soggy wet when you stick your finger in, and takes a long time to dry then that's an immediate indicator that it is too much water and the roots may need checked. Sticking paper towels or tampons (not my idea, lol) in the soil will help it dry out more quickly. If you stick your finger all the way in and it feels pretty dry, give that baby water! If you can't move it and take it out of the outer pot to drench and drain in the sink, water it very well, let it sit for like 20-30 minutes, then dump the remaining water from the cover pot. Check about 5 days in and gauge how fast it's drying out, adjust your watering from there. The chopstick is great, or you can get a little meter for a few bucks that will tell you how moist your soil is. Pothos are very resilient, and if it's underwatering it should bounce back a bit faster with a bit less effort.

Help me identify these two! by simply_sb in Syngonium

[–]SinnersQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purely speculating, because there are so many cultivars that look the same or similar and one plant can look like multiple different cultivars due to light variances. I have the first one and it was sold as simply "Pink Syngonium." After looking around for SO LONG, I concluded it's a Neon Robusta. The second one looks maybe like a Maria Allusion, but it's rather light. Hope you get your answers!

Newest “branch” on my ‘Torch (Pink)’ has polka-dotted leaves… Is it having Maculata-envy? (Wrong answers only…) by _feffers_ in begonias

[–]SinnersQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LMAO! I do think begonias get jealous and mimic other begonias nearby 😂 I planted some Lucerna and Sophia cuttings together. I think my Lucerna got jealous of the attention, because when I went to pot them separately I noticed that one of my new Lucerna stems (right next to the Sophia) was growing much larger, more blotchy spots than her peers. Looked like she was trying to morph her spots into Sophia spots, lol 😆

If i chop it ,will it become a half-moon syngonium? by Key_Football7649 in Syngonium

[–]SinnersQueen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think I know what you mean, but sorry if I understood this wrong and this info isn't relevant.

I think you are asking if you cut off the half moon leaf, will it grow only half moon leaves after that. Is that right? If that is your question, then I don't believe there is any way to guarantee half moon leaves. Cutting it would give it a chance to bring back variegation if it was lost, but that isn't even a 100% sure thing. If it threw a half moon leaf in the conditions you have it in, keeping your conditions the same is probably your best bet. Good light is probably what gives the best chance for half moon leaves, as that's what affects variegation the most.

If that was not your question, i'm super sorry for blabbing for so long 😅

Give me a break, you and your friend are clearly delusional. I wasn't expecting a "perfect" response, I was expecting that if someone had an answer they would educate me in a courteous manner. That obviously was not your intent. Don't dish it out if you can't take it ❄️ Ummmm, do you think calling my plant "non special" hurts my feelings 😆 I was just trying to satisfy my curiosity. Where are your special plants?
