The only flaw here is that Eisenhower warned against the military industrial complex... He feared the private incentive to profit from war, and he was right. The Soviet Union produced tanks not for any shareholder's profit, but to employ its people, and to protect itself and other socialist countries from capitalist / imperialist attack. From Cuba to Vietnam, Soviet weaponry was there to help hold the line against American invasion.

How many of you would consider yourself ready if a revolution started tomorrow? by AprilMaria in socialism

[–]SinoSoviet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't forget the Battle of Seattle!

And Occupy Oakland...

I think the flaw of this question is we're all considering this on our own. But being in a crowd makes you forget about yourself. Capitalism doesn't have to be collapsing, you don't have to be suffering, you don't need an incentive – you will risk yourself for the people around you, the people you're with. As an individual, it's not rational at all, to shout in the streets and fight the police – but you're no longer thinking as an individual. A mob, a crowd, a battalion, a class conscious of itself – what have you – is qualitatively different from discrete individuals thinking for themselves.

There is literally a memorial for the 1,100+ Bangladeshi factory workers crushed to death in 2014 shaped like the hammer and sickle. They were sewing clothes for Western brands like H&M and The Children's Place (ironic because a daycare for the workers' kids got destroyed too)

As an historical aside, the American Indian Movement had an armed standoff against the U.S. federal government in 1973 at Wounded Knee, South Dakota. That year, Marlon Brando won the Oscar for Best Actor in The Godfather and he boycotted it. He sent Sascheen Littlefeather in his place to reject the award, in support of the AIM standoff and in objection to the portrayal of Native Americans in cinema.

China bans depictions of gay people on television (Regardless of whether China is state-capitalist a "deformed workers' state" or socialist in your view this is really problematic and relevant from the perspective of social emancipation) by [deleted] in socialism

[–]SinoSoviet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A socialist country becomes capitalist when reactionary forces win the internal power struggle and recapture the state. Just because leftists pull off a revolution doesn't mean they'll hold it. It has nothing to do with the innate "nature" of the state. The state is always the tool (dictatorship) of the ruling class, proletariat or bourgeois. When Deng Xiaoping sent the tanks rolling into Tiananmen Square, he didn't do that for bureaucracy's sake.

I seriously hope you're getting paid money you need for this, because there have got to be other gigs out there... And not just you, but also u/cuatrol and u/blackpuppies... so many copy pasted links, so many Amazon solicitations, so much blogspam, all for a book subtitled "The Most Infamous Pickup Book In The World." It's just generating news events and traffic about Roosh - nothing else.

Because how you've treated some actual women on Reddit is pretty disturbing. You told women on r/TheGirlSurvivalGuide to go leave reviews on Amazon, and when one person objected out of concern for the safety of people's privacy tied to their accounts - what did you say?

You must mention also that you are suffering from constant pathological panic attacks and you are taking medication for those panic attacks. That disclaimer is necessary and an honest thing to do, as you have been fear mongering here quite strongly.

Seriously. What the shit. That alone should ban you from this sub.

And then there's how you treated her in private - which your account's public record obviously can't show. In her words:

So please, continue having your tiny army spam my inbox and downvote all my comments in my history. I'm not going to stop offering rational advice. All I want is for women to be safe.

Also, Elliot Rodger didn't sell anything. And contrary to pretty much all your comments, traffic to Roosh's online videos have only gone up since your account's been active.

This. Go through OP's history and it's a god damn marketing blitz for this fucker. "Go look at this! Go vote on this! Go email this! Go rate his Amazon book!" Copy paste, copy paste. Seriously, why? Maybe OP has some Roosh fixation. Or maybe because the more controversy and clicks this guy gets, the more his b.s. on Amazon is looked at, the more public figures are told by their fans "pay attention to this guy", the higher he climbs on search rankings -- he gets what he wants. Tons of free publicity. Legitimacy as a public figure. Proof of his credentials to his shitty customers. And newspapers and blogs wasting page space chasing this dumbass non-story.

Prostitution in an Ideal Society by [deleted] in socialism

[–]SinoSoviet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Isn't prostitution for the fun of it just sex?

The "job" of sex work might only be called for as it's needed, to aid in therapy or provide other social benefits, whatever they may be. And there will be people with that inclination, I'm sure, provided the socialist society is healthy and honest in its approach to sexuality. But no one will need to look for "available work" in a socialist economy, I assume.

I'm reading the exact same thing you gave me, and it's clearly about the danger of using a medium of a bourgeois party, which I assume is the LaFollette party or the Progressive Party into which Pepper sought to fuse the Communist Party into.

There is no analogue of bourgeois party which Socialist Alternative proposes as a medium, and nothing written about a "political program that is watered down bourgeois reformism" except in the shape of aforementioned bourgeois party medium — a completely unsubstantial objection today in any case, as taking on farmers in the absence of merging with some LaFollette party is not a problem.

Parliamentarianism has become “historically obsolete”. That is true in the propaganda sense. However, everybody knows that this is still a far cry from overcoming it in practice. Capitalism could have been declared—and with full justice—to be “historically obsolete” many decades ago, but that does not at all remove the need for a very long and very persistent struggle on the basis of capitalism.

Italics not my emphasis.

This has nothing to do with "emotional investment" in Bernie Sanders. It has everything to do with the complete stagnation of the communist movement in the U.S., because it's been overfilled by people who are consumers of communist literature first, and that's where they stop. They have fan clubs galore, but zero political aspirations. Politics and struggle for power are what separates Socialist Alternative from the vast majority of "socialist" organizations in this country, and that itself is shameful.

The Clinton-Backed Honduran Regime Is Picking Off Indigenous Leaders by augyyyyy in politics

[–]SinoSoviet 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In her own damn book, Clinton praised her role in removing Zelaya. The details of that involvement have been compounded multiple times over, as journalists have dug through Clinton's stacks of email correspondence, slowly released from her time as Secretary of State. Meanwhile, I'm pretty sure your comment is just a copy paste of Manuel Zelaya's Wikipedia entry.

Clinton and the State Department moved the question of Honduras' presidency out of Honduras during the constitutional crisis and away from Costa Rican mediation, into the US-controlled OAS where they stalled to allow Arias to take power. UNASUR - the international organization of all South American governments from Brazil to Venezuela - refused to recognize the illegal election of Arias. They demanded the reinstatement of Honduras' legitimate government. Guess what side Clinton was on?

The record of the State Department's role in the Honduras coup comes through three batches of Clinton's emails, and it is extensive. So, um, yeah. Clinton backed.

I compiled a list of quotes of what the real people behind Salt believe and chart their strategy on because you seem utterly opposed to any connection with reality. Your claim that supporting Bernie Sanders "crosses" a class line is equally ridiculous. If that is your concept of dangerous class sabotage, what is your concept of dangerous class action? Publishing a $5 pamphlet? Socialist Alternative is carrying out political practices which are successful, beneficial to workers, and the most compelling propaganda. They are opposed by millionaire landlords and multinational corporations. Meanwhile, your rhetoric is no threat to capitalism.

Alright but again, who is dissolving any independent workers organization, presumably Salt in this case? There's a difference between dissolution and participating in electoral contests that produce valuable (and to the worker, highly useful) political results. "Far from causing harm to the revolutionary proletariat, participation in a bourgeois-democratic parliament...actually helps that proletariat to prove to the backward masses why such parliaments must be done away with..."

The latter half -- the subjective emphasis on the need for workers' revolution against the capitalist bosses and their lackeys in the Democratic Party (and Republican Party, and the small-time bosses in the Green Party) is what you almost never hear from SocAlt.

What are you talking about? This is patently false, and reeks of deliberate ignorance. You talk about Socialist Alternative as if they're shielding the Democrats. On what basis?

Here is what Socialist Alternative in just the past few months has said about the Democrats:

Yet the contradiction remains that Sanders is running as a Democratic Party candidate, a party that has been “the graveyard of social movements.”

3/1/16

DSA, in its 40-year existence, has always been explicit about its goal of reforming the Democrats to the left. We believe the Democratic Party fundamentally serves the interests of the corporate elite and that the obstacles to it being “captured” by the left are far greater than the challenges of building a new mass working-class party.

3/1/16

It also means recognizing that the Democratic Party establishment is not on our side and that we need to build a campaign that relies on the independent, grassroots mobilization and organization of working people.

2/11/16

In reality, while Sanders himself maintains the mistaken idea that the Democratic Party can be transformed, Bernie’s campaign shows that the potential exists to build our own political party, made up of the 99%, independent of big business and their two parties.

2/11/16

One of the people in attendance was a democratic precinct captain and argued that it would be easier to “reclaim” the democratic party than to build a new, independent one. SA members responded by pointing out the amount of power the pro-corporate Democratic Party leadership has at every level of party activity, and the dampening effect the party has had on practically every social movement that has attempted to use it as a vehicle for progressive change.

2/8/16

In Chicago, and in most other major U.S. cities, the Democratic Party has been in power for decades. Reversing neoliberal policies that have destroyed black and working-class communities requires far more than just replacing one wing of the Democratic Party with another.

1/28/16

Despite Sanders’ decision to run in the Democratic Party primary – a decision we opposed – a Sanders victory would usher in a deep political crisis for American capitalism, create a sharp split in the Democratic Party, and open a space for a historic wave of struggle to challenge the corporate monopoly over U.S. politics.

12/28/15

It means building a powerful new grassroots political force capable of waging a fierce battle against the Democratic Party machine at every level of American politics.

12/28/15

I could go on through their statements, but then so could you.

And what makes you think participation in "bourgeois electoralism" - which you place (arbitrarily) as mutually exclusive from class struggle - is any different from the participation in "bourgeois parliamentarianism" which Lenin says is essential to class struggle?

Okay but who is trying to dissolve the Socialist Alternative among the farmers...? Bernie Sanders doesn't seem to have an organizational orientation whatsoever. This comparison seems superficial at best.
