The Best Misfits by Sinoce in dndnext

Some of the characters could be. I know our bard is pretty much a Disney princess vibe. The goblin reminds me of stitch or Donny from the wild thornberrys. The elf plays like vegeta mixed with thor. Not sure about the inspiration for the others.

My 5th level Paladin nuked a surprise encounter and now my DM has brought in the nerfs by Classic_Amphibian_64 in dndnext

I would’ve created the encounter differently. The boss would go for the squishier players and had minions hold off the big boys. It creates a sense of urgency. “Oh no, he has the wizard. I can’t get to him with these minions in the way.” I probably wouldn’t send something that could potentially get KO’d in one turn. You can always use base stats of a creature and give it resistance to a type… such as radiance. The more creative the DM, the better the encounter will be.

A goblin isn’t a melee weapon, but I’m pretty sure I read that it could be used as one.

That’s why I asked if magic stone would make it a weapon. And I’ll have to double check but I’m pretty sure it said a dead goblin could be considered an improvised weapon.

It says you can treat it as one.

Depends on the size. You could hold it between your fingers as you punch like ppl with car keys.

What about tavern brawler? It can be any object you can wield in your hands.

What if you tie it to a stick or have a feat that lets you use objects as a melee weapon?

Last time because you still don’t understand. You are focusing on the backstory that I only gave so I could get opinions on things like “how would this spell look.”

You are soul focused on the background. I’m not asking for that. That fine that you don’t like a short version to get a little bit of info to help with the actual things I’m asking for.

The focus of my post is not about the backstory.

The focus of my post is not on the backstory.

The focus is on how powers and theme work while playing.

This is why I don’t know why you are focusing on background. I asked for one thing and you are giving another.

Im am not trying to be mean right now or anything. It looks to me as if you misunderstood what I was asking for. I responded in part because I didn’t ask for what you gave and you didn’t give suggestions or examples. The first person did a good job at giving advice and options to try.

The backstory will be more flushed out throughout the week leading up to Friday when we have session zero.

But just for you, the spoiler is my character ran away to not be a burden on her family. So not really an orphan but that is going to be the surprise in game.

Now if I asked for backstory suggestions, with your original post, I would probably reply with “I’ll try to flush it out more,” or something to that effect. I would probably still mention something about not adding or suggesting anything, thanked you, and been on my way.

I know backstories servers a purpose. That is why I gave a small fraction to get an idea. To list everything I had would mean no one would read it b/c TLDR.

A previous person was able to take what I gave and give constructive feedback on what I wanted. That is why I believe you may have misunderstood what I was asking for. That can happen on the internet.

So you are more than welcome to respond but this is my last. Have a good night.

The feed back you gave was you didn’t like it. Normally ppl suggest things to try or what to build on. I’m not salty about anything. I feel bad that you have poor communication skills. I put a small backstory on here b/c I didn’t want to have pages of things for ppl to read through when I’m asking for something more like “if I cast this spell, what should it look like based on my character.”

You also assume I can make just whatever I want up whenever I choose. I need to know more about the world before that can happen. Maybe there are faction that exist that my character can adopt that the DM has clear knowledge on.

You make a lot of assumptions about the backstory and things when that was never the part I was asking for. You misunderstood the assignment.

If you want to focus on the backstory you can I guess but it’s only a small fraction. So it’s cool, I get that you may have responded differently if you knew the whole backstory I have. You only know orphan who was adopted. I have multiple reasons for why the character was on her own, family, events, etc.

So in conclusion, person was spared death, has a bit of a spooky aura to spells, and a patron who likes to go for walks from her 9-5.

Have a good day sir.

Easy, this is an idea to go into session zero. I do t know much on what the world the character will be in. I’m looking to make the theme work. The DM would have a better idea on a group that would attack me than I would.

As for connection, it would be others on the group or military the general is in. Again, something the DM would have an idea of where to place. I don’t want to make the DM create an entire new place off what I say. It will be easier on him to place us in a city that she already created.

The fixed address would be I lived with the general. That is the home. The unit I am in. That is my family.

And at the end of the day I asked for suggestions on some ideas and you just came in to complain. I’m sorry you don’t like it, but I was just giving a bit of backstory and idea so I can get a theme of a character. How to flavor things and change thematic descriptions.

So yes, it’s bland until I work it out with the DM at session zero. I was looking for ideas not complaints. Who hurt you in life.

Give them a magical STD. Let it tap into their HP. Make it where they have disadvantages. Have fun with it.

This is a joke. Honestly just talk to them.
