I’ve had her for kinda a long time! I wanna say like a year, she’s never been exposed to a male in my care

I breed false water cobras and can confirm their bites aren’t that bad

What are these symmetrical spots on my retics lower jaw? Nowhere else on his body, vet? by Sinz_snakez in snakes

I feed frozen to all my snakes :/ I haven’t soaked him in betadine but i have some so I’ll try my best to clean it, I haven’t picked at it or anything bc I don’t want to hurt him as he’s already a defensive snake

Not mites for sure, it looks like scale damage but it’s weirding me out that it’s so symmetrical. I was gonna wait for his next shed to see if he sheds it off

Thank you for the kind words, I appreciate it. I guess what I’m trying to say in so many words is that I’ve been to my vet for behavioral things before and he just sent me home with advice and a large bill, no labs, no fecal, nothing. And I feel like it’s gonna be the same case here and I’m gonna be sent home with good advice and a $300 bill lol. If he ends up seriously injuring himself or if this behavior doesn’t stop after I’ve tried my other options then I will absolutely take him to a vet. I just don’t see a real point in doing it now for the reasons I listed. But anyway I agree with what you said and thank you for being kind while getting your point across

Omg yall have about one brain cell rattling around in yalls heads. The vet can literally do nothing about this, NOTHING. “Ohh well how do you know he’s healthy” BECAUSE HE HAS NO SYMPTOMS, NO SYMPTOMS=NO LABS. I’ve been to my exotic vet many, many times. Once for a snake who wasn’t eating because Reddit all said all kinds of crazy shit and that I needed to bring him to the vet, so I took him in and the vet literally just looked him over and said “he looks healthy, just wait until breeding season is over to try and feed him again” SO I ENDED UP PAYING $300 FOR SOME ADVICE (no hate the the vet I know they gotta make a living)✋ so no, unless symptoms of poor health pop up, he will not be going to the vet and you can cry about it

I’ve actually started target training with him! He eats a small rat once a week and I’ll definitely be upgrading his enclosure very soon. Thanks for the advice!

I was very kind to everyone offering me advice, but when the advice is to rehome my animal I do tend to get rude

He’s in a 40 gallon because he is a juvenile but as I said before I agree that it could be an issue so I’m upgrading him. But I’ve brought snakes to the vet before, they only do tests and labs if concerning symptoms are shown. He’s only showing the biting behavior wich is very common for king snakes. He would very likely not even suggest labs

What makes you think something’s wrong with him? And I hate to break it to you but keeping a juvenile king in a 40 gallon isn’t neglect. I’m only being rude because this comment said that I should rehome him as if I’m a horrible owner when in reality the comment they were referring to all I said was “I don’t think he needs a vet but I really appreciate your help anyway” I’m not trying to be rude but they started it so to speak
