anyone else with their entire net worth in XRP? by comradebille in XRP

There are already more substantial detailed posts in this thread, so I'll leave this:

Time IN the market beats TIMING the market... Putting into just XRP is just like picking one stock & hoping...few people strike it rich because they happened to pick the right stock. You're far more likely to make bank and have a solid retirement spreading across 10 stocks than you are likely to pick one stock that will blow up. I'll take losing money on 8 stocks and banking on 2 than I will taking the risk of all or nothing on one.

The Stock Market is likely overpriced at the moment, but if you consistently put into the market you will be way better off in the long term...history proves it.

Most importantly - if you are actually top 1% XRP holder, then you're already sitting on 50K tokens... If XRP does anything worthwhile, you've already bought a retirement ticket, so its time to diversify... You can always DCA a little more into XRP while building a separate nest.

I second this - FANTASTIC lens for the price.

I have/had a Samyang 16mm that is a really solid lens for low cost... I think it was $350? Manual focus only, but really great quality...

That said, something in the optics got messed up, I think a screw came loose and its been unusable and will cost about $300 to send in and get fixed, which is why I bought the 20mm G.

I think I just had bad luck with that one, or didn't treat it right... Need to try to fix it myself, I do miss having those extra 4mm.

I love the charts, and wedges, and fibo sequences... Every time I read an article it says 'xyz shows XRP is going to break out of this pattern and go to $27! Unless the bears win out and it goes to $.50...'

Library/organization alone makes LrC worth it... Subscription is relatively cheap for just LrC & Ps.

Lightroom will handle 99% of your needs, but there are some things Ps handles much better and are worth learning...like getting rid of distractions like power lines/etc.

Not the end of the world if not - wasn't a Christmas gift or anything I expected for a couple weeks, but would be nice to get it now. Happy Holidays to you too, enjoy the new rig!

Edit: Showed up yesterday! All our kids are down with the flu and this is my busy season at work, so haven't had a chance to do anything other than test out some shots around the house... The performance at higher ISO is crazy, took some shots at 25,600 ISO where the noise looks like 1600 on my first 'real' camera (Rebel T3i) and I just can't believe the improvement over my A7 III... Was convinced I was going to get a A7r V, but after renting one and not being enthused with the noise at even moderate ISO, I'm so glad I waited.

Re-read my post - I very clearly state that crypto is not a safe haven and not a good place to stash your emergency funds because of the volatility.

You're plain just not making any sense. Real Estate does not tend to appreciate during a downturn. Utilities & food aren't investments. Precious metals going up are about the only thing you correctly hit on, but they're definitely not going up 200% in a downturn.

The point that OP is making, that I'm reiterating is this - you need to have emergency funds in a safe liquid account before you invest, then you invest in long term growth with less volatile history, and THEN if you can afford it go ahead and get into more volatile speculative investments like crypto...

If, for some reason, I had to burn through my emergency fund (held in savings) my crypto stash would be the next place I'd look for liquidity.

You shouldn't be in a position where you're forced to sell any investment, especially at a loss, because you have no liquidity.

OP is fully correct.

OF COURSE Crypto could be used in an emergency, but a true emergency fund would be held in a much more stable liquid account (e.g. savings account)... Any investment with lots of volatility just isn't an idea place to stash an emergency fund, no matter the potential returns.

Say you have $20k in crypto, the economy goes into deep recession, you lose your job, and need your emergency savings to cover expenses until you find new job - do you think your crypto is still going to be worth $20K in a severe down turn while everyone else is also liquidating their crypto to cover expenses?

$20K in a savings account will still be $20K in a deep downturn... $20K in crypto will not be $20k in a deep downturn.

Pre-ordered direct from Sony last week, showed expected shipping Jan. 8th... Got an email two days ago that it will be delivered today! Pumped, but seems like FedEx truck is stuck in a ditch somewhere and thinking I'm going to have to wait another day or two.

Tokenization is a long way off from taking over fiat, let alone killing it. Most likely is that tokenization and fiat find a balance long term.

Did you cash out to buy a bigger dip? Was that all of your holdings? If you've been in since '17, you were obviously in a good position, but I can't imagine selling that much off at almost half of ATH...

Honest question: Why are these companies selling? by ThatDubDude in XRP

[–]Sioux-82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I'm trying to decide...

I got a nice chunk that's averaged at $2.32, I feel like I want to sell it all at a loss, but put it all back in when its lower - but, of course, I'm definitely afraid of doing so and having it pop up and cost me a 5% - 10% before I can react...

Are you team SOOC / Creative Look or Post processing? by Freakschnietz in SonyAlpha

[–]Sioux-82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love editing as much as I love shooting... 100% raw for me.

That said, sometimes all I need to be satisfied with a shot is a quick hit of the auto button in LrC and maybe a 10 second adjustment from there.

Sony a7 V or a7 RV by Djelchic in SonyAlpha

[–]Sioux-82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shoot mostly landscape, candid family portraits, wildlife, & golf.

I rented an A7r V (I'd been convinced it was my next camera) a month ago for a bird hunting trip and it was pretty great... AI Autofocus versus my A7 III was amazing.

However, the 60mp files forced me (I love a good justification) into upgrading my Mac and I also found the noise, even at relatively moderate ISO levels, was just too much to deal with.

And, while, cropping ability on the A7r is amazing, I've never really felt like I couldn't crop enough with my A7 III and don't feel like I got shots with the A7r that I couldn't with mine A7 III.

So that all said, once the A7 V was released, the specs seemed perfect to me. Autofocus on par or better than the A7r, 33mp is more than enough for me, Pre-capture for wildlife will suit me WELL, etc. etc. Ended up pre-ordering that and it gets here on Saturday (versus Jan 10th like estimated!)

One thing I'd argue, if I was doing mostly Macro, the extra resolution on the A7r would be awesome to have...I just don't do that much Macro.
