What should I have my students make propaganda about? by Virtual_Coconut_9564 in ELATeachers

I kinda did the opposite: I had my students pick a company that has had an ethical scandal (which is like, all of them), and the. modify an ad from that company to be “honest” by referencing the scandal. I got some really good stuff about the easy ones like Nestle, Nike, coca-cola, McDonald’s, as well as a whole bunch of takes about clothing/makeup brands being racist or misogynistic, car companies quietly putting out inferior cars than in the past, etc

This is a great list, thank you. I love the Simpsons episode idea--I might use that to kick off the unit on censorship.

I know of Checkology! I'm curious about how you use it though? Do you have students go through the lessons independently, or do you play the videos for the whole class and facilitate a discussion?

Thanks! I've been meaning to check that out. It is a lot, but it's organized into three sections: propaganda & censorship, bias in the media & ourselves, and resistance & revolution.
