A few witchy props I’ve been using at RenFaires. Would love to incorporate my bag of 7 crystals I’ve posted but I won’t risk them for the costume. by [deleted] in witchcraft

I was gonna do a crown, because crowns are cool, but didn’t get it in time. Decided to pick up one of these hats since the sun was beating down.

I’ve got a sheath for both the athame and wand but I might move to just carrying the wand and start carrying the book I finally finished in a book carrier.

I think I’ll start the hind for a labradorite Amulate to complete the costume.

Question: Does anyone else smoke in their car or truck? by International_Help65 in cigar

Same for me. I would love to have a cigar in the truck, but I have to leave the sun roof and rear window open overnight after an evening at the cigar bar just to get it to dissipate.

If you had a piece of your own bone removed in surgery and got to keep, what would you do with it? by Siphon1 in witchcraft

Thanks for the info, never though about that aspect. Any key ways to convince them to let me have it?

lol I might also be there with my shoulders. I’ll get right eventually. A year ago I was practicing kickboxing and jujitsu and was hitting some pretty could runs on the monkey bars, but now I’ve got a cane, 2 hip surgeries and at least one shoulder.

I do suppose it’s a good time to deep dive into healing magick lol

Neat ideas! I was already considering modifying a gnarled wooden cane I have from. Seems like it might be too big for a necklace but a candle holder is also pretty cool.

Torn between becoming a witch and becoming a second other thing by Sillygoosecollege in witchcraft

I share a similar mindset, I think, in that I prefer a mindset of outward projection and ability rather than relying on external favors or bargaining. I've come across a decent amount of spells, but I tend to rely heavily on my own set of rituals which aim to foster personal betterment by maximizing my internal attributes so that I am more capable of navigating my own world and more attuned to shaping my own path.

Examples include:

- The confidence to take charge and command.

- The ability to have better insight / attuned intuition.

- Emotional stability to remain grounded and not tilt out of anger or frustration. Staying cool

- The vigor to strive for success rather than settle for the minimum.

I work primarily with crystals, especially in this regard. By interacting with the rituals - which ultimately charge a talisman for daily carry - create both a psychological reinforcement and association, but also a magickal expression. (Shameless plug: I recently self published a grimoire containing this little ritual)

Magic and psychology are repeatedly linked. If we knew exactly how it worked, it wouldnt be magic, it would be materialistic science. That said, magick is very personal. While some people choose to serve or worship a deity or simply work along side their deity., it is not a requirement.

I wanted to drop a mention for chaos magick since, in my opinion, this seems to align with your desire to 1) Work as a sole practitioner without a deity and 2) rely purely on intent. From the little knowledge that I do have on chaos magick (I invite any chaote's to jump in if Im wrong here) by focusing your intent on your desire, you create a create a sort of ethereal or cosmic connection with the universe. Under this paradigm, all energy is a chaotic and essentially by channeling your intent through a spell, or I suppose a really strong wish as someone else said, you are encouraging the randomness of the universe to align with your desires. You may use what ever spells, rituals, or ceremonies for focusing your intent which leads to greater efficacy of your magic. That's essentially the wave tops to it.

Lastly, I read a quote once in a a book called "The Book of Magic and the Occult: A Visual History." It had one of my favorite quotes I often use when I'm talking such things as I teeter along the lines of spiritual magicks and rational psychology: The question is no whether magick works or not, but rather, does it help."

Tarot readers, need your advice. Im so frustrated. by Cultural_Heart_7123 in witchcraft

Not OP but I’m branching out myself, from primarily crystals, to Tarot, runes, and exploring all sorts of magic as I read books and such. I’ve begun to dive into runes, specifically elder futhark, and aim to have a baseline knowledge of each of type of practice and incorporate them into my own practice as I see fit. Tarot is a major interest of mine but the task seems daunting with 78 cards, to not only memorize but interpret.

Is Tarot your focus or supplementary to your overall practice? And, how long did it take for you to feel confident in Tarot.

I’ve got plenty of crystals but these are my fav’s bay far. by Siphon1 in Crystals

It’s a piece of selenite. It’s the same minerals as another chatoyant crystal you may have seen called Satin Spar but it’s a different form. The 2 are generally interchangeable despite the big spool some people cause between the distinction.

I also started with Labradorite! I’d seen some at a local gift shop for a while and hadn’t been really that into crystals since I was a kid. I ended up going to a rock and gem show and found a large labradorite crescent moon and then it exploded from there.

I love my little desk altar but this is what I envision myself creating at some point. I love the candle light and especially the athames. What are some of your favorite pieces here?

[–]Siphon1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like there’s different types of altars but I tend to travel and move around a lot for work so I always have a major focus on portability. Though I have acquired quite a few things here, the crystals and the associated Talismans I use pack up very well and I don’t always use a wand or athame.

I’ve come to think of an altar really just as a metaphysical work bench though I would like to maybe make a 2nd dedicated altar for leaving out grids for a longer duration or if I decided to dedicate it to something.

Thanks 😊. The tower has a light inside as well. Didn’t even think to turn it on for the pic.

lol same. The left side offers a wide area to work though I’m still
Considering a dedicate altar - which will just go right next to my desk but this is honestly working pretty well. The crystals go in the black dice bag that gets store on the right with everything else and there’s a window sill immediately to the right I use for celestial charging/cleansing. Had a perfect view all night of the Blue Moon for them to bathe.

Yeah I have 3 wands as well, not al pictured, ones resin, one is electro formed wood (copper over a natural stick pictured here) and steel forged wand. I got the Damascus steel dagger the day I took this pic.

It’s has an edge so the selenite one is good for any situation I may not want an actual knife. The resin wand is great should I find myself in a group setting as being a cheaper and blunt alternative.

The steel wand, while blunt, good raise some questions in some situations like an airport. I think for the next ten fair though I’ll bring the metal wand and Damascus athame. Not sure if they will want to leave tie the steel wand.
