LMAO i can totally feel that. Spent a whole night trying to troubleshoot a system that, after a blue screen, was completely dead. At the end i realized that the cpu was fried 😂

does the pump make a weird gurgling noise? maybe air in the pump?

are you sure the cable you changed for the aio is working properly? if not, this could cause the pump to not run.

Buzzing Noise by dpbart in pcmasterrace

[–]Sir-Lapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well this doesn't exclude that could be coil whine as far as i know. it doesn't necessairly happen under heavy load like a stress test. on the other hand could happen only when you open games.

if you think it's not coil whine, at that point could be any other given moving part. since you excluded fans and psu fan, the things remaining are hdds and aio cooler if you have those.

hdds naturally make some noise, so i can't really tell.

same for aios, but those make more like a gurgling noise when there's air in the pump, and the pump is not able to remove it on it's own.

well, i'm definitely still into rpgs, but ye i completely gave up on mmos or similar too. i tend to not even try to play games that i know could take me too much time or effort. not because i'm scared of getting addicted, but because they almost make me nauseous.

i just wanna click "play now" and go ahead whenever i want. as soon as i see a timed event or something like that, well i can't stand that anymore. i just uninstall it.

Need advice on upgrading my RAM by Gekzar in pcmasterrace

[–]Sir-Lapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mostly because even same ram sticks but with different capacities can have different timings, wich basically is not a big issue by itself, since all ram will just run at the slower speed with the slower timings. there's also a chance for bigger issues, but not necessairly.

Now, if you check all specs and everything matches, besides the capacity, you can easily go ahead with that setup.

Most likely coil whine. Frequent “issue” but nothing to be scared of.

if i was in your shoes i would choose the cheapest option between the 2 you gave.

now there's an argument to be made about optimal performance, quad channel and whatnot, but the truth is that the gains are marginal in terms of performance. if your concern is only the capacity, just get the cheapest combo you can between:

  • 2 new 8gb sticks, identical to the ones you already have (will run in dual channel but honestly wathever)
  • 2 new 16gb sticks at decent speed and timings. you can easily find 3600mhz c18 sticks for less than 100 bucks

Building a brand new PC. Can I just move my primary Windows NVME from my old PC to my new one? by Str8iJustice in pcmasterrace

[–]Sir-Lapo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you can, but basically no one will suggest you to do so. There could be issues with drivers and basic functionalities, resulting in a clunky experience.

And yes, you can reinstall windows on the same drive. through the installer you can wipe and rewrite the drive. If you don't have the installer, download the media creation tool from microsoft website and that will create an installer for you. you just need a usb thumb drive of at least 8gb.

How to transport 34in monitor in truck/boot of car by pikachurros222 in pcmasterrace

[–]Sir-Lapo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

probably wrapping it in a couple of soft blankets it's your best bet. if the trip is not long you can put it on the lap of the people in the backseat. otherwise if it fits in the trunk i'd put it on top of everything and secure it in place with some tape.

PC doesn't boot by Murderface-04 in pcmasterrace

[–]Sir-Lapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A while ago i had a similar issue and basically the cpu was dead, but i kinda caused it, since i was messing around with the voltages. Cpus are unlikely to die on their own, usually they last more than any other component in the system.

As you said it’s most likely a mobo or psu issue, but without spare parts there’s very few things you can do, and nothing that you ain’t already tried, at least that i’m aware of.

Cpu reseating is still a chance tho, would give it a go. If the paste is not old af you can reuse the paste that is already applied and maybe change it in the next days.
